Iris’s POV

His fingers tightened around my throat.

“I know.”

The words came out low, steady, and far too calm for the way his hands were pressing into my skin. I clawed at his wrists, my nails digging in, my body twisting beneath him as I tried to pull free.

“I know what you’ve been doing.”

My lungs burned. Panic surged through me, sharp and immediate. I tried to speak, to say his name, to deny it, but nothing came out except a strained, broken sound.

“Marcus…”

“You think I wouldn’t find

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 131

Marcus’s POV I wanted to scream at him and tell him that his arrogance and his assumption that he was always the smartest person in the room had put Iris in danger more than once. But yelling at my father wouldn't find my wife, so I swallowed my anger and forced myself to focus. "The black sedan. Do you have a description? A make and model? Anything that could help us track it?" "I have photos. My people took them as a precaution. I'll send them to you now." The photos arrived a moment later, and I stood on the sidewalk outside Meridian Press staring at them on my phone. The car was a dark sedan, unremarkable in every way, the kind of vehicle that blended into traffic and vanished from memory the moment you looked away. But there was something about it that made my skin prickle because I had seen this car before. Not recently, not in any context I could name, but somewhere in the back of my mind a memory was stirring that I couldn't quit

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 130

Marcus’s POV The letters were a dead end, but I didn't know that yet. I had spent three hours in the conference room at Meridian Press with Rachel the junior editor hovering in the doorway like she wasn't sure whether to offer me coffee or call security. The stack of fan mail had yielded exactly what I expected it to yield: obsession dressed up as admiration, threats wrapped in flowery language, and one unsigned note that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. None of it gave me a name or an address or anything I could take to the police. What it gave me was a pattern. The letters had started arriving six months ago, right around the time the book came out, and they had increased in frequency over the past few weeks. The sender knew details about Iris's life that weren't public knowledge, like her favorite restaurants and her writing habits and the exact route she took to her parents' house. The kind of details that could only co

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 129

Iris's POVThe morning passed in a blur of forced choices and false compliance, each hour bringing a new delivery and a new opportunity to pretend I was playing along. Margaret returned at ten with another team of assistants, this time carrying handbags that cost more than some cars I had owned. They lined them up on the chaise lounge near the window like soldiers awaiting inspection, each one positioned just so, each one waiting for me to acknowledge its existence."The boss thought you might appreciate some accessories," Margaret said, her voice carefully neutral. "He said a woman of your stature should have options.""My stature. Does the boss always talk about me like I'm a collectible he's acquired?"Margaret didn't answer. She just gestured toward the bags and waited.I walked over to the display and pretended to examine them, running my fingers over leather and suede and exotic skins I couldn't name. They were beautiful, objectivel

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 128

Iris's POV I woke up in a bed that wasn't mine, and for a long moment I just lay there with my eyes closed, trying to piece together how I had gotten here. The mattress beneath me was impossibly soft, the kind of soft that came from expensive sheets and a frame that didn't creak, and the pillow cradled my head like it had been designed specifically for the shape of my skull. I could smell fresh coffee and something baking, and somewhere in the distance I heard the soft hum of classical music playing from a speaker I couldn't see. The blindfold was gone. The restraints were gone. I lifted my hands in front of my face and flexed my fingers, half expecting to find fur-lined cuffs still wrapped around my wrists. But my skin was bare and unmarked, and someone had dressed me in silk pajamas that felt like they cost more than my first car. I sat up slowly, taking in the room around me. It was beautiful. Not beautiful in the way h

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 127

Marcus's POVThe list my father sent me contained four names, and I knew two of them by reputation alone. The first was a security consultant who had been on Victor's payroll for over a decade, a man named Gerard who specialized in what my father euphemistically called "sensitive acquisitions." The second was a former intelligence officer who had traded government secrets for private sector money and never looked back. The third and fourth were lower level operatives who handled logistics and surveillance, the kind of people who knew everything about an operation but had no stake in its outcome.None of them were answering their phones.I stood at the edge of the crash site while the police finished their preliminary investigation, my phone pressed to my ear and my father pacing behind me like a caged animal. Iris's parents had been taken to the station to file a formal report, and her mother had gripped my arm before she left with a desperation that made my chest ache. "Find her," sh

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 126

Marcus’s POV I couldn’t believe what I just heard. No wonder Iris stood no chance against him."She told you she was done and you decided to abduct her. That's not love, Dad. That's a crime." I stepped closer, close enough to see the lines around his eyes and the tension in his jaw and the faint sheen of sweat on his forehead that betrayed the panic he was trying so hard to hide. "You've spent months telling yourself you were protecting her. You drugged me on my honeymoon and followed her across the country and bought her publisher, and you called all of it love. But love doesn't run people off the road. Love doesn't hire men to intercept a woman on a dark highway. Love doesn't stand in the wreckage and pretend it had nothing to do with the disaster.""Marcus...""I'm not finished." My voice was steady, steadier than it had any right to be, and I realized somewhere in the back of my mind that I was no longer afraid of him. He had spent my whole life looming over me, an impossible sta

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 93

Victor's POVThe silence from her end had stretched from days into weeks, and I had stopped counting the number of times I had picked up my phone only to set it down again. I was not a man who chased and I had never needed to. The women in my life had always come willingly, eager for the attention

  • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 91

Iris’s POV Victor's office was on the thirty-fourth floor of a building that bore his name. I had been there once before, months ago, when Marcus had given me a tour of the family empire and I had nodded along like a good fiancée, pretending to be impressed by the corner views and the original ar

Iris's POVThe last two days on the island were a fever dream I couldn't wake from.Victor had abandoned all pretense of caution. • Let Me Go Daddy, I Am Engaged To Your Son!   Chapter 83

Iris's POVI followed Marcus into the dark, leaving the candles smoking in the living room and the phone dead on the dresser where I had dropped it like it had burned me. The villa had changed. Earlier it had felt like a sanctuary, all billowing white curtains and the soft hush of waves below the t
