Chapter 9

She had struck gold in the form of a person. Although William was a man of few words and did not have a good temper, he was a true gentleman.

Later on, even though they shared the same bed, William did not do anything to her.

On the other hand, as Cecelia looked at William who was sleeping, she found him even more dashing than before. Consequently, she began having wild thoughts.

His eyelashes were long, and they beckoned her to touch them.

Nevertheless, Cecelia only wished she could and kept her hands to herself. Feasting on the sight of him with her eyes would have to do for now.

Cecelia thought that after going through so much in a day, and having a man next to her, she would have trouble falling asleep.

However, the truth was, she very quickly drifted to slumberland while staring at him.

Unexpectedly, the moment Cecelia closed her eyes, William opened his.

His dark obsidian eyes locked on to Cecelia and an indiscernible glint lit up in his eyes.

After a night of sweet dreams, before fully waking up, Cecelia stretched lazily. However, she then recalled something and turned to look to her side.

William was gone.

‘Did he go to use the toilet, or has he left already?’

Cecelia could not understand why she was so eager for William to leave, but the thought of him having left already made her feel rather dejected and empty.

“Get up and have your breakfast.”

William’s voice rang out of the blue. Cecelia blinked and looked at William who was standing by the door.

‘He hasn’t left!!’

“Why are you smiling goofily, hurry up.”

“I’m not smiling.” Cecelia purposely pulled a stoic face and got out of bed to chase after William who had turned around.

Cecelia followed William to the kitchen where the dining table had been set with some millet porridge and fried eggs.

She sniffed the air. ‘Smells good.’

Once again, she felt emotional. ‘Indeed, I’ve struck gold. He not only washed my feet but cooked for me as well.

‘Regardless of what happened, the heavens are still being kind toward me.’

“Ouch, why?”

Cecelia had just picked up her chopsticks and was about to dig in when her hands were pinched by Wlliam. She pouted in displeasure.

“Wash up.”

Cecelia was once again rendered speechless.

Nevertheless, after breakfast, Cecelia washed the dishes without question.

After cleaning up everything, Cecelia was puzzled for a moment when she saw that William seemed to have no intention of going out. She asked, “Are you going out?”

The truth was, she wanted to ask if he did not need to go to work. However, when the words reached her mouth, they came out as an indirect question.

William was sitting on the sofa and reading a magazine that she had used as a coaster for her fruit platter. He looked up at her and said, “I don’t work.”

Cecelia was rendered speechless.

‘I thought that I would hurt his ego, but it seems like he isn’t bothered about it at all.’

Cecelia pursed her lips slightly before taking 200 bucks out from her pocket. She placed it on the table in front of William. “I’m going out and will be back around 6 PM. You can order some food delivery, or if you don’t like food delivery, there is a supermarket nearby as well.”

Once she finished speaking, she reached for her jacket and bag that were hung on the hanger by the door. However, as she opened the door and was just about to leave, William spoke up.

“Not enough!”

Cecelia turned her head around. “What is not enough?”

“Money!”

‘...

‘Is 200 bucks not enough for one meal?’

Cecelia nearly rolled her eyes in front of him. “The restaurants nearby are not expensive unless you intend to have a gourmet feast.”

William did not blink as he stared at her. “Clothes, shoes, daily necessities.”

‘He may be gold, but if I need to feed him...

‘Oh forget it. He not only washed my feet but even cooked for me. I can’t let him do all that for free.’

Cecelia took out her purse and opened it. Her heart ached as she passed him another five bills. “There’s a men’s clothing shop opposite this residential community. You can shop over there.”

Cecelia’s purse was now bleeding profuser, yet William still said, “Not enough.”
