Chapter 10

‘500 bucks isn’t enough?!

‘Is he planning to buy branded goods?’

Cecelia clenched her teeth and said, “Then, how much do you want?”

William copied what Cecelia’s gesture from the night before and raised two fingers.

Cecelia’s eyes widened. “I only spend about a thousand plus monthly, yet you need 2000 bucks just to buy some clothes? Pretty boy, there are some things that I must let you know since we’re married. You can see the kind of condition I live in. Thus, I can’t afford to give you a comfortable life.”

Cecelia thought that by saying so, William would be understanding. After all, he was a man and should not be relying on a woman to feed him.

The truth was, Cecelia had underestimated the thickness of William’s skin. He did not feel ashamed, instead, he continued to say without the slightest sense of dignity, “Then you should work harder to earn more money.”

Cecelia was rendered speechless for the umpteenth time.

What else could she say?

Cecelia fumed as she made her way out. She dared not explode at William.

Nevertheless, when Cecelia left, what she failed to see was the hint of a smile within William’s black eyes.

Looking at the ‘X’ that was scribbled on her newspaper, Cecelia felt like a deflated balloon as she recalled William’s words, ‘work harder to earn more money’. She had searched throughout the whole morning to find a job but failed to even find one.

It was as if those companies had discussed whether or not to hire her beforehand; whenever any of them found out that she was Cecelia Shayne, even those who were rather satisfied with her work performance, they would change their minds immediately.

Cecelia was not a fool and could guess that it had to be that fat pig, Patrick Mason’s doing behind the scene.

Patrick probably knew that she would not dare return to his company to work and thus blocked off all her escape routes.

She did not know that the fat pig was that capable!

‘What should I do now?

‘If I were alone, I wouldn't starve to death for a while even without a job. But that fella at home...’

“Cecelia Shayne, tell me, were you even thinking at that time?” Cecelia knocked her head in frustration. “You had been bullied, but you could have found a spot to cry your lungs out. Of all the things you could have done, why did you have to pull grab a random guy and get married. Also, you were the one who had to fork out money?”

Cecelia was filled with so much regret that she was kicking herself. Nevertheless, there was no turning back.

She could not beat William in a fight!!!

After feeling down for a while, Cecelia picked up her spirits and continued to job hunt.

Since those well-known companies would not hire her, she had to lower her standards.

She did not believe that Fat Mason had control over the whole of City A.

Nevertheless, reality proved otherwise and she had underestimated the powers of Fat Mason. Cecelia was unable to find a job even as a waitress in a restaurant!!!

Downfalls always came in pairs. Right when she was being chased out of a place, she bumped into Hawick.

In his arms was that cougar Cecelia had caught him having sex with at his rented house.

Since they had become enemies, Hawick held nothing back and mocked her.

“Sigh, jobs aren’t easy to come by nowadays. Why don’t I introduce one to you?”

Cecelia ignored Hawick, but he purposely blocked her way.

“Don’t be shy.” He kissed the cougar in his arms and said, “Darling, isn’t your company looking to hire people lately? Are there any suitable positions for her?”

The old woman guessed that Cecelia was not as what Hawick had described the other day, a part-time cleaner. Her gaze was filled with animosity as she sized up Cecelia. The old woman smirked with her blood-red lips and said, “I still have an open position for a toilet janitor.”

Cecelia realized that the couple in front of her was a match made in heaven.
