Chapter 10

I ended up skipping my PE class due to what happened. But I wasn't unfortunate since I was exempted from our relay challenges, and it was actually quite incredible. I got to skip the physical activities that I hated the most.

Thanks for that ball that hit my head.

The while infirmary smelled like medicine. While I was sitting on the edge of the bed, the doctor checked the side of my head with a small flashlight.

"Does it still hurt here?" she gently asked while pressing near my temple.

"Just a little, Doc. Not as bad as earlier," I replied.

"You're lucky it wasn't worse," she uttered while writing something on her clipboard. "It was a mild concussion symptoms, but nothing serious. Any nausea? Or blurred vision, dear?"

"No, I'm okay, Doc. I just felt lightheaded earlier, but it's gone now."

She smiled. "Good. I'll give you something for the headache, but take it easy for the next few days. No intense activities and rest when you get home. Are we clear?”

I nodded while brushing my hair behind my ear. "Thanks, Doc. Noted on that.”

She was just about to hand me some pain relievers when the door opened. Ryan and Ethan walked in and behind them was our Coach while his whistle was still hanging around his neck.

"How's she doing, Doc?" Coach asked.

"She's fine, Coach. There was no damage. Just a little rest and she'll be good to go."

"That's good," Coach replied and gave me a faint nod. "Head home for today, Miss Evans. Don't overdo it."

I just gave him a small smile. "Yes, Coach. Thank you."

When Coach left, I got off the bed and ready to head out until I saw Ryan and Ethan standing right in front of the door. I raised a brow while crossing my arms.

"I can walk on my own, you know," I told them and I glanced at Ryan. "What do you want?"

Ryan stepped forward while hands were in his pockets. "You should come back to the condo, Sarah. Rest properly and I'll take care of you."

I groaned. "No thanks. You know what? I like my skin for Regina might tear it off if I show up there."

Before Ryan could speak again, Ethan stood in front of me an I got behind his back. "Come with me, omega. I'll take you home."

Ryan turned sharply and grabbed my hands. "Why do you care so much? Since when did you and Sarah become this close?"

Ethan didn't say anything. He just stepped between us and gently moved me behind him. “Touch her again," Ethan growled while his voice soft and sharp. “And I'll rip your lungs out."

Ryan held his hands up and clearly backed off. But he looked at me. “We still need to talk."

Ethan didn't let me answer. He just grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the infirmary before I could react. The hallway was crowded with students, and all of them turned to look as we passed by. Their whispers followed us and I didn’t know what to feel.

Damn! I felt like I was gonna get buried alive from their stares.

"Ethan," I whispered while walking behind him. "Everyone's staring..."

"Let them," he muttered and wasn’t even looking back.

We left the campus after a few moments while I was trailing behind him.

When we finally reached the condo and stepped inside, a familiar voice called out from the couch.

"For the last time, Ethan!" the girl uttered with an annoyed tone. "Stop bringing girls to my—" She paused mid-sentence when she saw me. I blinked at her in shock.

She was wearing some pastel pajamas and her hair was tied in a messy bun while holding a tub of ice cream. She was so adorable and pretty.

"Tanya?" Ethan said and he was clearly not surprised. "She's not my girl. She's the new tenant."

My jaw dropped. Oh! So this was Tanya Edwards, the respected medical researcher. And obviously, she was the real owner of this condo.

Tanya gazed at me while straightening up quickly and wiped her hands on her pajama pants. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't know! I thought, uh, never mind." She rushed over to me and offered a hand. "I'm Tanya. Welcome. I didn't expect you to arrive while I was... eating ice cream and yelling."

I laughed awkwardly and shook her hand. "No worries, Miss Tanya. I'm Sarah. Sorry for, um, being dragged in like this."

She smiled and brushed her hair behind her ear. "It's okay. I'm really glad we've finally met. I'm barely home, so I'm trusting you'll get along with my cousins."

Ethan scoffed from the corner. "Not happening."

I rolled my eyes at him and pulled my hand from his grip. Then Tanya glanced between us and chuckled. "Well, it looks like you're getting along just fine."

Ethan just turned and walked away without saying anything and disappeared into his room.

Tanya leaned closer to me. “Don't mind him. He's always like that. But honestly, the three of them? They're good guys. Bit rough around the edges, but they mean well."

I looked at her while I was unsure, but nodded slowly. "I think I'll be okay."

"Good." She smiled warmly. "Just give them time. They're not so bad once you get used to them."
