LOGINIt was around 10:45 in the morning when my laboratory class ended. I was just trying to get through the day. My Molecular Biology lab had been pure chaos. Not because of the lecture or the project work, but because Ashley, Sophia, Ryan, and of course, Regina, were all in the same class as me.
It felt like I was being stabbed repeatedly by their face during our class. I just kept my head down and did my lab work. When class ended, I was already starving so I made my way to the cafeteria and joined the lunch line. But after a few minutes, I saw Regina and her little pack of followers behind me. Just as it was my turn to get food, I felt the sudden rush of people behind me. Regina and her friends shoved forward while laughing as they cut my line. Damn! When will they ever stop bugging me? And then, one of them accidentally bumped into me. My tray flew out of my hands. I lost my balance and hit the floor hard. The whole cafeteria went silent for a few seconds until laughter echoed around the whole building. I could hear it everywhere. My cheeks went red as I stared at the mess of food splattered across the tiles. And above me was Regina. "Oh no," she uttered sarcastically while towering above me. "Did the little omega trip over her own clumsy feet?" Her friends just giggled. I clenched my fists but inhaled slowly. "The line was meant for me," I faintly replied while pushing myself up. "I was here first." Regina smirked. "Aww, she's so cute when she tries to act brave." I wiped my hands on my jeans and walked past her. I didn't even acknowledge them after that. I just ordered a new tray of food and just left without looking back. I thought I could sit alone, maybe by the windows. But my feet betrayed me. They led me toward my old table, our table. For years, it had been mine, Ashley's, and Sophia's spot. Now, they were there with their new pack members, all cozy in the seats we once claimed. I just stood in front of them and froze. Sophia looked up first. "All the seats are taken, Sarah," she uttered and not even pretending to sound nice. Ashley glanced up too. "You can find another table, Sarah. There's plenty of them." I felt something ached inside me. But I just forced a smile so tight that it hurt. "Right," I responded. "Of course." I gently turned while fighting the sting in my eyes. But after a few seconds, gentle grip wrapped around my arm. I turned and was startled to see Tyler in front of me while his brown eyes were staring at me softly. He said nothing at first. He just wiped the tear I hadn't noticed had slipped down my cheek. On the other hand, the whispers in the cafeteria grew louder, but I barely noticed them. "Is that Tyler Blackstone?" "Isn't he one of the triplet alphas? I told you they're all gorgeous!" "Why is he with that weak omega Ryan just dumped?" Tyler didn't care and gently pulled me along with him. I didn't even have the chance to resist. I just followed him and was too stunned to protest. After a few seconds, he led me past rows of tables all the way to the VIP area where only high-ranking alphas could sit. I didn't know how to react. Ryan was also here. He looked up when he saw us and I knew for sure that he was surprised to see me here. For the past two years, I had never been allowed near this space even if Ryan was still my boyfriend. But now? I was standing in the middle of it while holding my lunch tray and was completely out of place. Was this supposed to be an achievement for some lowly omega like me? Jason grinned when he saw us. "Look who's finally joining the cool kids!" he uttered while standing to pull out a chair for me. I hesitated and glanced at Tyler. "Am I... even allowed here?" Tyler just smiled a me. "We permit it, lady," he replied. "From now on, this is your table too and you will be eating with us." I just looked at him, then at Jason's bright smile, and then at Ethan who was watching me with a strange look. He was nonchalant as always and I shouldn't expect anything from him. I took a seat and heaved a deep sigh. "I didn't know what to say but... thank you, Tyler. Thank you for letting me feel that I belong somewhere—" "You don't belong here, omega," Ethan cut my words and sat straight in front of me before staring coldly at me right in the eyes. "My brother just felt pity for you. Don't assume other things," he added. I didn't know what this meant or where it was going, but I just ignored Ethan and glanced at Tyler. "Still, I wanna say thank you."The sun was already high above the campus when Ethan and I finally made our way back, walking side by side through the university gates. The soft autumn breeze brushed past, and I couldn't stop smiling as we talked.I didn't even realize how light I felt until now. Maybe it was because of the skating or maybe it was because I saw Ethan actually laugh today. Either way, I couldn't wipe the grin off my face."I still can't believe I fell that many times," I said, laughing as I hugged my bag close. "You must've been so embarrassed."Ethan glanced sideways at me, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "Not really. It was kind of funny watching you panic every time you moved an inch."I gasped dramatically, nudging his arm. "You're so mean!""I'm just honest," he said, his voice calm but playful in that subtle Ethan way.We were still laughing when someone suddenly called out my name from behind."SARAH!"I halted and turned around, blinking as I saw Lily running toward us, waving one hand fra
At first, I told myself I'd just sit and watch.Really.I was perfectly fine sitting on the bench, hugging my knees, and watching the others skate around like graceful birds gliding over ice. The neon lights danced across the rink, music thumping softly in the background, and laughter echoed from every direction. And then there was Ethan. He was right in the middle of the rink, skating effortlessly, like he belonged there. His balance was perfect, his movements smooth and confident. It was honestly kind of mesmerizing to watch him.Until I noticed them.A few girls had gathered near him, giggling, pretending to wobble just so he'd catch them. One of them even held out her hand dramatically."Ethan! I'm gonna fall, help me!" she said in a high-pitched tone.Ethan, being the gentleman he always is, reached out and steadied her with a small smile. And just like that, my stomach twisted a little.I told myself it didn't matter. I mean, it's not like he's mine or anything. But still... wat
The walk to the laboratory was quiet except for the faint hum of students chatting down the corridor. My heart was beating a little too fast, though I wasn't sure why, maybe it was the silence between me and Ethan, or maybe it was because we were about to meet one of the strictest professors in the department. When we finally reached the laboratory, the familiar smell of disinfectant and chemicals filled the air. The lights were bright, reflecting off the silver lab tables and equipment. Professor Delgado was at her desk, flipping through a pile of papers, her glasses sliding down her nose slightly.Ethan didn't even hesitate. He walked straight toward her desk with the project in his hand."Good afternoon, Professor," Ethan said politely, placing the folder neatly in front of her. "We're submitting our project for the midterm requirement."Professor Sage looked up from her papers and adjusted her glasses. The moment her gaze landed on Ethan, her expression softened. "Ah, Mr. Blacksto
When Monday morning arrived, I groaned softly into my pillow, not ready to face the world again. The thought of going back to school was already tiring enough, but what made it worse was the problem I'd been dreading since last night, how to hide my scars.I sat up and stared blankly at my arms, tugging the blanket away. My heart stopped for a second.Wait... what?I rubbed my eyes and blinked, thinking I was just imagining things. But when I looked closer, my skin was perfectly smooth. Not a single mark. Not a single scar."What the—" I gasped, immediately jumping off the bed.I rushed toward the mirror, almost tripping over my slippers, and stood there in disbelief. I touched my arms, my neck, even my shoulder, nothing. My skin looked... normal. Like nothing ever happened. My heartbeat quickened, half in shock, half in relief. "They're gone," I whispered to myself, a wide smile forming on my face. "They're actually gone!"I didn't understand how or why. But for now, I didn't care. W
The mall was buzzing with people when Lily and I stepped inside that afternoon. The air smelled like coffee, perfume, and freshly baked pastries, a mix that somehow felt comforting after everything that had happened. I tugged the hood of my light pink hoodie a little tighter around my face, it wasn't cold, but it helped me hide the faint marks that were still visible on my neck and collarbone. Even though they were healing fast, I didn't want anyone staring or asking questions."Finally! You're out of your healing cave!" Lily teased as she looped her arm through mine. "I was starting to think you and your bed had already formed a lifelong bond."I chuckled softly. "I was just bored, not dead. And besides, you said we'd go shopping today, remember?"She grinned and pulled me toward the escalator. "You're right! And we're going to make up for those three days you were asleep. I need new clothes, and you need, well, something that doesn't scream 'I just fought a rogue last week.'"I roll
It was already late at night when Lily finally stretched her arms and shouted in triumph, "Yes! Finally done!" Her voice echoed through the veranda. Tyler leaned back in his chair, exhaling a long sigh of relief."I can't believe we actually pulled that off before the deadline," Tyler said with a small laugh, rubbing his temples. "My brain's about to explode."Lily giggled and slumped against her chair. "Same. I swear, if I see another research paper this week, I'm going to scream."I looked up from my book and smiled at them. "Congrats, you two. At least now you can finally breathe."Lily turned to me, grinning proudly. "We deserve a trophy for this. You didn't see how chaotic it was last night. Tyler almost deleted our whole file."Tyler raised a brow. "That was an accident! You're the one who spilled coffee on my notes!""Because you scared me when you shouted!" Lily shot back, but she was laughing now, too.Jason, who was lounging on the couch with his feet on the coffee table, ba
