Chapter 48- She came back for me!

Liam’s POV

I didn’t realize how heavy my chest felt until I finally lowered myself onto the barstool outside the small wine shop across the street from school. It wasn’t much — just a wooden canopy, a few stools, a dusty counter, but it had become my hiding place for the past three months since Yvonne disappeared out of the thin ear. Sometimes I hardly attended classes as I sat here all day, just like today.

But then, every time I sat here, the same weight settled in my stomach.

The same questions circled my mind.

The same guilt poked at me like a knife pressed too close to the skin.

I stared at the glass in front of me — a deep red wine I'd never even liked, but forced myself to drink because it dulled the ache in my chest. Even if it was just a little for that moment.

I took a slow sip.

The liquid burned my throat, but it seems like the ache in my chest didn’t budge.
