Chapter 2

Author: Pretty Lucky
A female goblin in a flowing white dress stepped inside. Her complexion was much lighter than Cole's, and her hand gently caressed her slightly rounded belly. There was a soft, gentle smile on her face.

It was Shia.

The moment Cole saw her, his eyes widened. He immediately let go of my hand and rushed to her side.

He had flung me aside so forcefully that my lower back slammed into the sharp corner of a table. The pain was so intense that I couldn't speak for a while.

Leena gasped and rushed over to support me. "Lilian, are you alright?"

Cole, however, acted like I didn't exist. He walked up to Shia and asked gently, "Shia, why are you here? Is the baby making you feel uncomfortable?"

Shia's eyes casually flicked past me. There was a trace of smugness in her gaze before she leaned weakly into Cole's arms. "The morning sickness has been awful lately, and my feet are so swollen that I can barely walk. I missed you, so I came to see you."

At this, Cole's face was filled with concern. He immediately scooped her up in his arms and walked out.

Leena looked at the blood soaking through the back of my clothes and couldn't hold back any longer. She shouted at Cole's retreating figure, "Cole, Lilian is your fiancee! How could you treat her like this for some outsider?"

Cole stopped in his tracks, and Shia, in his arms, clenched her teeth. There was a flicker of viciousness in her eyes as she said, "It's all my fault for following you without any status or name. It's brought you nothing but trouble…"

Cole gently laid Shia down on the couch, then suddenly turned around and stormed toward me. Without any hesitation, he raised his hand and slapped me hard across the face.

The sharp slap echoed through the room. My mind went blank as my ears rang from the impact.

Cole shook his wrist as he said coldly, "I thought you were a quiet, obedient woman. I didn't expect you to just be another vicious woman. Lilian, I'm warning you. If you so much as try to influence Leena again, I'll keep slapping you until you learn your lesson!"

He looked down at me like I was nothing but an insect. "8:00 pm the night after tomorrow. Central Magic Tower. Don't be late!"

With that, he didn't spare me another glance. He picked up Shia and walked out without looking back.

Leena's face was streaked with tears. She carefully helped me up, avoiding the wound on my back. Her voice trembled, "Lilian, I'm so sorry…"

Leaning on the couch, I tried to process what had just happened. I smiled weakly at her. "It's not your fault, Leena."

Leena helped me onto the couch, fuming as she stomped her foot. "That bastard goblin! No wonder you remembered everyone but him! Serves him right! Lilian, marry that half-elf! You have my support! Make Cole regret it forever!"

I laughed bitterly. The burn from the wound on my back caused me to grit my teeth in pain.

But inside, I felt unusually calm.

Though I was still technically his fiancee and had to play along for now, it was time I started making plans for myself.

Just seven more days.

In seven days, I would embark on a journey that was entirely mine.

On the last four days, I spent the past few days clearing out my place when I wasn't tending to my injuries.

I stared at the pile of things in the living room and silently tossed them into the dimensional pouch by the door. It was meant for destruction.

Included were the 999 magical letters I wrote for him, the 365 kinds of healing potions I developed for him, the defensive runes I prepared, the 108 teleportation stones aimed at his castle, and the scroll of safety from climbing 9999 steps at the ruined place of worship to pray for his safety.

Just as I turned, my heart skipped a beat.

Cole was standing at the door. I had no idea when he had arrived, but his amber-colored eyes stared right at me, and at the pile of "trash" on the floor.

His voice was hoarse with disbelief. "Why are you throwing those away?"

I replied indifferently, "Trash should be thrown away."

As I said that, a wave of unprecedented relief washed over me.

Suddenly, a surge of powerful magic forcefully knocked Cole back. He crashed to the ground in a heap. When he looked up, he saw Ash standing there, wearing a bright, dazzling smile. In front of everyone's stunned eyes, Ash casually slipped an arm around my shoulders and grinned at Isa and Orion. "Mr. and Mrs. Vanderbilt, I'm here to take Lilian to form our magic bond!"My eyes widened in disbelief as I stared at him, trying to figure out if he was joking or just helping me out of a tough spot. However, the clarity and determination in his eyes left no room for doubt. My heart started racing wildly. As if driven by instinct, I took Ash's hand right in front of Cole and said coldly to him, "Scram. I'm going to get engaged. Stay out of my way."All strength seemed to drain from Cole's body as he looked at me one last time, his eyes filled with sorrow. Then, he turned around and walked away, defeated and alone. It was like what I had said—I really formed a magic bond with Ash in a

I said hoarsely, "Ash, this marriage isn't child's play, I'm sure you know that. My last relationship.."I paused, struggling to go on. "I'm scared you'll look down on me for being pregnant before, even if the child didn't make it. I'm scared you'll be like Cole and fall out of love years later, leaving only pain behind. I'm scared I won't be a good wife. "Also, I'm scared of falling into another messy marriage."I saw him about to explain something and quickly cut Ash off. "I know. Maybe you're just caught up in the moment, or maybe you think I'm not bad. However, I hope you think this through seriously. This isn't just about two individuals. Rather, it's between two families."Then, I added, "When you've truly thought it through, and you still want this, we can sit down and have a real discussion. We can talk about the future and even about what to do if something ever goes wrong where we need to dissolve the engagement."After I finished, I didn't dare to meet Ash's eyes. My h

"He fell in love with me after I left? What about his precious Shia?" I asked."That's the funniest part!" Leena burst out laughing on the other end."That's why I said he's gone insane! He blamed Shia for your departure. Then, he started digging into her background, and guess what he found?" She deliberately paused there."Stop teasing me. Just spill it," I urged."He found out Shia was never pregnant! She faked the pregnancy just to buy time to practice dark magic in the underground chambers of the palace! Her goal was to control the entire kingdom! "The two of them had a complete falling out, and it's a full-blown scandal!" Leena said. She continued, "The reputation of the goblins is at rock bottom at the moment. My parents and the chieftain are in a state of mess, constantly stressed out daily. They walk around looking like they've been dipped in chimney soot!" Hearing all that, I couldn't help laughing. "And you're happy about all this?""Of course I am!" Leena answered.

The chieftain shouted, "And look at you now! You didn't even bother hiding the fact that the woman outside had a child, and even flaunted it everywhere! What was the result? "You lost your wife, and you lost that brilliant marriage alliance with the Heroic Alliance! You've utterly disgraced the goblins!"Cole looked as if he had been struck by lightning. He could barely remain on his knees. His face turned ashen as he hoarsely asked, "She knows why I wanted to marry her?"Leena let out a cold laugh and mocked, "Of course she knows. She heard every word you and your drinking buddies said at the bar. Then, she was attacked, badly injured, lost her memory, and had a miscarriage. "Cole, are you satisfied with how it ended?""A miscarriage…" Cole still couldn't accept the word, even now. When the chieftain heard that word, his fury spiked to a new level. His expression darkened even more as he berated, "You idiot! You blind fool! That was royal goblin blood! And now it's gone. You d

Isa caught the look on my face, and a flicker of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. Then, she introduced, "Lilian, come here! This is my friend's son, Ash Silverwind. He's two years younger than you!"Ash had a refreshing smile as he said, "Hello, Lilian!"The sweet way he said my name made my cheeks flush.I instinctively raked my damp hair back and quickly wiped the sweat from my palms. Then, I reached out to lightly touch his long, elegant fingers.Isa watched us with such delight that her eyes squinted upwards. "I'll leave you youngsters to chat. I just remembered I have something to take care of."With a wink at Orion, the two of them disappeared from the courtyard in a flash. Only Ash and I were left standing there, slightly awkwardly.I gave a nervous little laugh and gestured toward the stone bench. "Come, have a seat."Ash nodded and sat across from me. His posture was relaxed and natural, without the slightest trace of unease from meeting someone new. He took the init

Cole's subordinate suggested, "Look for her and wait by her door for as long as it takes. Cry your heart out and beg her for forgiveness. She'll definitely relent."Hope instantly ignited in Cole's eyes. "Yes, I'll look for her and beg! My dignity means nothing if she's willing to come back."Just as Cole stood up to take his first step, two towering guards appeared and blocked his way like two solid walls. One of them spoke emotionlessly and formally, "Your Highness, please return to the palace with us. His Majesty wishes to see you."…I woke up with the soothing scent of elven herbs lingering around me.Turning my head, I saw Orion Vanderbilt and Isa Nolan, who were the leaders of the Heroic Alliance. When they saw me wake up, their eyes filled with pain and concern.Isa gently stroked my hair with reddened eyes. "Lilian, how could they treat you like this all these years? What kind of torment did you endure there?"Orion stood with his back to us, his shoulders trembling. I
