Chapter 5

ผู้เขียน: Pretty Lucky
Cole dragged me off the bed without a hint of mercy, yanking my arm and pulling me toward the door.

"Cole, what are you doing? Let go of Lilian!" Leena cried out, rushing forward to stop him, but Cole shoved her aside.

"Cole, how could Lilian possibly hurt that woman? She doesn't even remember who she is. She lost her memory! And do you even know that she…" Leena shouted.

"Shut up!" he snapped murderously. "You traitor! Whose side are you on?

"That child would have been your family! If you dare side with her again, I'll report you and have you exiled to the wastelands!" Cole roared, ignoring all of Leena's pleas. He dragged me into the treatment room next door and threw me hard onto the ground.

I landed in a pathetic heap on the cold floor. Every injury flared up at once, and on top of it, the grief of losing my child made my tears spill uncontrollably again.

On the bed, Shia lay in apparent weakness. When she saw us entering, she slowly pushed herself upright. "Lilian, I know you're jealous that Cole loves me, but the baby in my belly was his child, too. How could you be so cruel?"

"The healer said it was a little girl who was already showing signs of magical energy…" She clutched her stomach, sobbing like her heart was breaking.

Cole immediately pulled her into his arms, full of pity. "We'll have more children! There, there, don't be sad."

I was pinned to the floor by two towering goblin guards, unable to move. All I could do was cry out in desperation, "She's not pregnant! She practices dark magic! Ask the healer for yourself!"

Cole glanced at me coldly and with disdain. "Do you think I'd believe your nonsense and suspect Shia?"

He spat out venomously, "You're still so unrepentant. Lilian, if you still want me to marry you, repent at the goblin cemetery for a full day to atone for what you did to my child! If not, leave and give Shia her rightful place as princess consort!"

A wave of helplessness surged up inside me, drowning me.

I clenched my jaw and forced back the tears that were burning behind my eyes. Calmly looking at Cole, I spoke with a tone of finality. "Alright, let that be the end of the years I've spent with you."

I used all the strength I had left to stand up from the floor and turned. Then, I walked out of the treatment room without ever looking back.

Cole watched my retreating figure, and for a fleeting moment, felt a pang of regret in his heart. He frowned as he tried to suppress that unfamiliar feeling.

He continued tending to the weeping Shia in his arms and didn't leave the room until deep into the night, feeling utterly exhausted.

When he returned to his now-empty residence, an unfamiliar panic gripped him.

"Lilian!" He suddenly called out, but no one answered.

He searched the entire palace but found no trace of me. Even my belongings had all vanished without a trace.

Frantic, he picked up the communication crystal and contacted Leena.

"Leena, is Lilian with you?" he asked urgently, his voice carrying a hint of panic.

There was silence on the other end before she replied with calm indifference, "Lilian? Didn't you say you were calling off the engagement? She's already gone."

"Gone? Where?" Cole choked.

He suddenly remembered all the cruel things he'd said at the treatment room earlier that day and felt his throat tighten. "I was just angry. Where could she have gone?"

Leena let out a cold laugh as she revealed with scorn, "She went to fulfill an arranged marriage. Right, I forgot to tell you. Right before you forced her to apologize to that woman with dark magic, Lilian had just lost your child."

Suddenly, a surge of powerful magic forcefully knocked Cole back. He crashed to the ground in a heap. When he looked up, he saw Ash standing there, wearing a bright, dazzling smile. In front of everyone's stunned eyes, Ash casually slipped an arm around my shoulders and grinned at Isa and Orion. "Mr. and Mrs. Vanderbilt, I'm here to take Lilian to form our magic bond!"My eyes widened in disbelief as I stared at him, trying to figure out if he was joking or just helping me out of a tough spot. However, the clarity and determination in his eyes left no room for doubt. My heart started racing wildly. As if driven by instinct, I took Ash's hand right in front of Cole and said coldly to him, "Scram. I'm going to get engaged. Stay out of my way."All strength seemed to drain from Cole's body as he looked at me one last time, his eyes filled with sorrow. Then, he turned around and walked away, defeated and alone. It was like what I had said—I really formed a magic bond with Ash in a

I said hoarsely, "Ash, this marriage isn't child's play, I'm sure you know that. My last relationship.."I paused, struggling to go on. "I'm scared you'll look down on me for being pregnant before, even if the child didn't make it. I'm scared you'll be like Cole and fall out of love years later, leaving only pain behind. I'm scared I won't be a good wife. "Also, I'm scared of falling into another messy marriage."I saw him about to explain something and quickly cut Ash off. "I know. Maybe you're just caught up in the moment, or maybe you think I'm not bad. However, I hope you think this through seriously. This isn't just about two individuals. Rather, it's between two families."Then, I added, "When you've truly thought it through, and you still want this, we can sit down and have a real discussion. We can talk about the future and even about what to do if something ever goes wrong where we need to dissolve the engagement."After I finished, I didn't dare to meet Ash's eyes. My h

"He fell in love with me after I left? What about his precious Shia?" I asked."That's the funniest part!" Leena burst out laughing on the other end."That's why I said he's gone insane! He blamed Shia for your departure. Then, he started digging into her background, and guess what he found?" She deliberately paused there."Stop teasing me. Just spill it," I urged."He found out Shia was never pregnant! She faked the pregnancy just to buy time to practice dark magic in the underground chambers of the palace! Her goal was to control the entire kingdom! "The two of them had a complete falling out, and it's a full-blown scandal!" Leena said. She continued, "The reputation of the goblins is at rock bottom at the moment. My parents and the chieftain are in a state of mess, constantly stressed out daily. They walk around looking like they've been dipped in chimney soot!" Hearing all that, I couldn't help laughing. "And you're happy about all this?""Of course I am!" Leena answered.

The chieftain shouted, "And look at you now! You didn't even bother hiding the fact that the woman outside had a child, and even flaunted it everywhere! What was the result? "You lost your wife, and you lost that brilliant marriage alliance with the Heroic Alliance! You've utterly disgraced the goblins!"Cole looked as if he had been struck by lightning. He could barely remain on his knees. His face turned ashen as he hoarsely asked, "She knows why I wanted to marry her?"Leena let out a cold laugh and mocked, "Of course she knows. She heard every word you and your drinking buddies said at the bar. Then, she was attacked, badly injured, lost her memory, and had a miscarriage. "Cole, are you satisfied with how it ended?""A miscarriage…" Cole still couldn't accept the word, even now. When the chieftain heard that word, his fury spiked to a new level. His expression darkened even more as he berated, "You idiot! You blind fool! That was royal goblin blood! And now it's gone. You d

Isa caught the look on my face, and a flicker of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. Then, she introduced, "Lilian, come here! This is my friend's son, Ash Silverwind. He's two years younger than you!"Ash had a refreshing smile as he said, "Hello, Lilian!"The sweet way he said my name made my cheeks flush.I instinctively raked my damp hair back and quickly wiped the sweat from my palms. Then, I reached out to lightly touch his long, elegant fingers.Isa watched us with such delight that her eyes squinted upwards. "I'll leave you youngsters to chat. I just remembered I have something to take care of."With a wink at Orion, the two of them disappeared from the courtyard in a flash. Only Ash and I were left standing there, slightly awkwardly.I gave a nervous little laugh and gestured toward the stone bench. "Come, have a seat."Ash nodded and sat across from me. His posture was relaxed and natural, without the slightest trace of unease from meeting someone new. He took the init

Cole's subordinate suggested, "Look for her and wait by her door for as long as it takes. Cry your heart out and beg her for forgiveness. She'll definitely relent."Hope instantly ignited in Cole's eyes. "Yes, I'll look for her and beg! My dignity means nothing if she's willing to come back."Just as Cole stood up to take his first step, two towering guards appeared and blocked his way like two solid walls. One of them spoke emotionlessly and formally, "Your Highness, please return to the palace with us. His Majesty wishes to see you."…I woke up with the soothing scent of elven herbs lingering around me.Turning my head, I saw Orion Vanderbilt and Isa Nolan, who were the leaders of the Heroic Alliance. When they saw me wake up, their eyes filled with pain and concern.Isa gently stroked my hair with reddened eyes. "Lilian, how could they treat you like this all these years? What kind of torment did you endure there?"Orion stood with his back to us, his shoulders trembling. I
