The hallway to the dungeon was dark and very dusty.

Obviously, no one has come here for months. Maybe years even, judging from the thick cobwebs.

How sure was Sophia even saw anything here to begin with?

How sure was I that she was telling the truth?

What if this was some sort of trap?

I stopped in my tracks, but shook my head.

In as much as I wanted to be cautious, Sophia had given me a reason whatsoever to doubt her. She had stood by me and had kept my secrets.

She had earned my trust.

I continued walking down the hallway till I got to the dungeon doors. A very long gate which was also covered in dust and cobwebs.

I placed my hand on the door knob and gave it a push but it didn’t bulge. Not that I was even expecting it to.

The gate was locked, but if my father was really keeping someone here, how come he did not place a guard here?

Maybe he didn’t, to avoid raising suspicions.

That made sense.

Because no one believed that there was something down here.
