Chapter 4: Chapter Four: Is President Gu Satisfied?

Venus Kellogg felt a sense of unease rising within her. She told herself not to overthink, but her hand involuntarily fell to her abdomen.

Her belly was as flat as ever, and Venus Kellogg could only pray that she was just imagining things. The next morning, with no scenes scheduled for her, she got up early and rushed to the hospital.

She was in a panic, and on the way, she called a friend. By the time the results were ready, her friend had arrived.

Cathy Nathaniei squeezed in front of Venus Kellogg, took her hand, and looked at her abdomen. "How is it? Do you have the results?"

Venus Kellogg's face was pale, and she shook her head. Cathy Nathaniei's mother was a close friend of hers, and after her mother's death, Cathy Nathaniei's parents had treated her and her brother like their own children.

Apart from her scumbag father, Cathy Nathaniei was the only other person who knew about Venus Kellogg being kept by someone. Cathy Nathaniei felt the coldness of the hand she was holding and quickly tried to comfort her: "Don't worry, don't overthink it. Maybe you've just been too tired lately."

Even as she said this, Cathy Nathaniei realized how weak the excuse sounded. It was almost time, and Venus Kellogg stood up to get the test results, but Cathy Nathaniei pressed her back down. "Stay here, I'll go get them."

Venus Kellogg sat back down, but she was restless, feeling as if the chair was full of needles. Not long after, Cathy Nathaniei returned with a few sheets of paper. Without even looking at the papers, Venus Kellogg could tell from Cathy Nathaniei's expression what the result was. Her heart sank.

Cathy Nathaniei, holding the papers, sat beside her and asked worriedly, "What are you going to do?"

Venus Kellogg was in a daze, taking the papers without a word. Cathy Nathaniei's voice softened, "Is it Malcolm Godwin's?"

The hand gripping the test results tightened, and Venus Kellogg opened her mouth, her throat dry. She swallowed and nodded. Cathy Nathaniei was worried for her, unsure whether this child was a blessing or a curse.

Suddenly, Venus Kellogg spoke, "It's over between me and Malcolm Godwin."

Cathy Nathaniei was shocked, stammering, "W-what did you say?"

Venus Kellogg's face was devoid of color, but her eyes were bright. "The arrangement has ended, so whether I'm pregnant or not, he can't control me anymore."

Cathy Nathaniei hesitated, "So, you mean...?"

Venus Kellogg stroked her abdomen, determined. "I want to keep this child."

She had very little family left; her mother had died early, and aside from her biological father, she only had one brother. She couldn't bring herself to abort the child.

Cathy Nathaniei, who had been friends with Venus Kellogg for years, knew that once she made a decision, she would stick to it. Just like when she sold herself to Malcolm Godwin to raise money for her brother's medical treatment.

Cathy Nathaniei sighed, swallowing the words she wanted to say, and squeezed Venus Kellogg's shoulder. After the check-up, Venus Kellogg hurried to the set.

Kristin Bennett also arrived late, surrounded by bodyguards and assistants. Malcolm Godwin followed silently behind her, like a guardian. Several well-known actors gathered around, and Nelson Francis greeted him, "Mr. Godwin, why are you here at this time?"

Before Malcolm Godwin could speak, Kristin Bennett smiled and said, "Big Brother Mohan came to accompany me."

Nelson Francis couldn't help but admire, "Mr. Godwin is so good to Miss Bennett, always accompanying her to the set."

Kristin Bennett's smile grew, and she glanced at Malcolm Godwin, a blush appearing on her fair face. "Big Brother Mohan has always been good to me."

The people around them immediately flattered Mr. Godwin and Miss Bennett, calling them a perfect match.

Venus Kellogg stood outside the crowd, her slender figure looking fragile in the wind. Today's scene involved her character, a supporting actress, stealing company secrets and being caught by the main character. The intense part was the main character slapping her out of frustration.

The earlier parts went smoothly, but when it came to the slap, Kristin Bennett couldn't get it right, and Nelson Francis kept calling for retakes. Kristin Bennett didn't use much force, but after several attempts, Venus Kellogg felt the pain.

She turned her head slightly, looking in Malcolm Godwin's direction. He sat calmly behind the camera, playing with a lighter, his gaze on her as still as a deep well, unmoved.

Venus Kellogg closed her eyes, pinching her fingers to calm herself. Another take, and still no success. Kristin Bennett apologized, "I'm sorry, I'm causing trouble for you."

Miss Bennett's apology, though, only made Venus Kellogg more frustrated. She looked at Kristin Bennett's palm; her own face was fine, but Kristin Bennett's hand was red.

After several retakes, everyone was tired, and Nelson Francis suggested a break, postponing the scene. Venus Kellogg went to the dressing room to change, and Anna gave her an ice pack for her face. As she came out, she saw Kristin Bennett sitting next to Malcolm Godwin, showing him the hand that had slapped her.

Due to the angle, Venus Kellogg couldn't see Malcolm Godwin's expression, but she imagined it must be filled with concern.

Turning back to the dressing room, she bumped into Levi Graham. He was the male lead, handsome and popular, yet down-to-earth, well-liked in the crew.

He steadied her, asking, "Are you okay?"

Venus Kellogg shook her head, addressing him respectfully, "Bro."

Levi Graham withdrew his hand, putting it in his pocket, and looked at her reddened cheek. "A girl's face is precious; you must take care of it."

Venus Kellogg didn't look up, replying softly, "Thank you, Bro, I know."

As they were talking, steady footsteps approached. Levi Graham called out, "Mr. Godwin." Venus Kellogg's grip on the ice pack tightened, and she turned, smiling, "Is Mr. Godwin satisfied with my performance?"

Malcolm Godwin passed by her, his gaze straight ahead, and replied coolly, "Keep it up."

Venus Kellogg's smile froze. Soon, Malcolm Godwin emerged with an ice pack. Venus Kellogg bit her lip, her eyes following him as he handed the ice pack to Kristin Bennett.

Kristin Bennett took it, smiling sweetly, "Thank you, Big Brother Mohan."

Malcolm Godwin nodded, saying nothing. Venus Kellogg's attention was drawn to them, and she stumbled, dropping the ice pack. Levi Graham picked it up and handed it back to her, "You dropped your ice pack."

Venus Kellogg thanked him, but didn't put it back on her face. Levi Graham followed her gaze, raising an eyebrow, his expression unreadable.
