chapter 28

The rain came pouring down onto the concrete sidewalks, the large droplets bashing against the window seal blurring out anything to be seen beyond. The sky had turned a bleak grey darkening the surroundings. Thunder rumbled loudly, lightning crashing every so often to coat everything in blinding white.

Alex was seated in the small living room, scrolling through the few TV channels. Jamie was taking a nap along with their mum so he was the only one awake. The house was dark, the only light coming from their old model tv, the booming of thunder causing Alex to jump at times.

A knock sounded at the door; Alex unsure if he had actually heard it. The rain was pouring so loud that he thought he’d heard wrong but the knock came again. Alex stood, unsure whether to check or not.
