Chapter 6

Penulis: Pantaloon
On the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary, Noah returned home early, brimming with excitement. Not even the steady downpour from the overcast sky could slow him down.

His heart pounded erratically the entire way, as if it sensed something was terribly wrong.

He fumbled for his phone and called Emma.

But her phone was turned off. It only tightened the vise around his chest.

"It's fine," he muttered to the empty car. "I've just been distracted lately. She wouldn't…"

When he returned to the villa, he was greeted by pitch-black silence.

A sudden thought struck him.

Was Emma not at home? But how could that be?

Today was their fifth wedding anniversary, and they had promised to celebrate it together.

She had even mentioned preparing a surprise for him.

Clinging to that hope, Noah quickly flicked on the lights.

And then he saw it—resting on the dining table under the soft glow of the chandelier.

A divorce agreement.

He froze, stunned into stillness, as if the world had

Noah had learned from Jill when I would be returning. As soon as I got off the plane and exited the airport, I saw Noah's car parked at the side of the road, waiting for me. He quickly walked toward me, his steps light but his expression serious, his figure noticeably thinner. He no longer wore the confident energy he once had."Darling…"I took a couple of steps back, distancing myself from him."It’s better if you just call me by my name."Noah froze, then, after a couple of seconds, hesitantly called out my name."You’re finally back, Emma"I did not share his excitement. The love I had for him over the past ten years had long disappeared after seeing him share his love with Jill, over and over again."It’s been a month now. Are you ready to let me go, Noah?"Fear seemed to spill from the depths of his eyes, and he shook his head desperately."I won’t divorce you. I know I was wrong, but my heart still pines for you. My love for you has never diminished, not for a si

Jill could no longer speak from the pain of Noah’s attacks. Her body bled through her hospital gown, the lower half of her body torn and raw. Only when a team of doctors and nurses rushed in did they finally manage to pull Noah away.“Don’t think just because Emma’s gone that you’ll take her place,” he growled, his voice cold as steel. “Let me tell you something, Jill—If Emma doesn’t return, I’ll make sure your miserable life stretches into decades of suffering.”But instead of cowering, Jill threw back her head and laughed.“You’re nothing but a monster, Noah!” she spat. “You think a woman like Emma would come back to you? Keep dreaming. She already knew everything you did. She would have left you even without me in the picture!”The words cut deep, like a blade slashing through a truth he had fought to deny. His face twisted in rage, and he screamed, “Shut up! Emma will come back to me!”Security dragged Noah out of the hospital as he struggled violently....Meanwhil

I'd known about Noah's wandering heart for some time. I also knew that Jill wasn’t the first person he’d fallen for, nor would she be the last.I had met Jill six months ago. Back then, she was a down-and-out girl. She had a gambler for a father, a troublemaking brother, and a thieving younger brother. The entire family relied on her to support them. Out of sympathy, I had hired her as a gardener. On her first day of work, Jill had a huge argument with Noah. She had no idea how to operate the trimmer and not only ruined my favorite peach tree but also hurt her hand badly. When she came to me, her eyes were full of tears. She looked so pitiful at the time.Noah would rarely say anything, but this time he couldn't hold back. “If you can’t do it, don’t! You’re just causing trouble, a disaster waiting to happen. Look at what you've done to the peach tree that Emma loves so much. “If it dies, you could never repay its worth!”At the time, I hadn’t expected Noah to be so har

When I returned to the villa, I immediately began packing my things. Over the years, I hadn’t earned much, but enough to buy a modest apartment. By morning, I’d hired movers to transport my belongings there. That was when Noah finally came back.He looked stunned as he stared at me, his voice trembling ever so slightly. “What are you doing, Emma? Where are you going? Are you leaving me?” I swallowed my disgust and forced a sigh—what perfect timing. Since I hadn’t yet gotten the signed divorce papers, I had no choice but to pacify him a little longer. “Just some old stuff from the house. I’m thinking of storing it elsewhere—there’s barely room left here.” The fear in Noah’s eyes eased just a little. But then he spotted something among the luggage: an old photo album filled with pictures from all our years together. His eyes turned red the moment he opened it. “These are our wedding photos, Emma. You’re not keeping them here anymore?” Back then—five years ago—my hea

Noah stayed by my side until dawn.I woke to the shrill ring of his phone. Seeing me stir, he frowned and declined the call, only for it to ring again immediately.Once.Twice.The incessant noise drilled into my skull.“You should head back to the office,” I said softly. “I’m fine now. I’ll be discharged soon.”He hesitated before nodding slowly. “Well… you know how hectic things have been at work lately. I really can’t—”“I know,” I interrupted gently. “I understand.”That calm, compliant response made him pause longer than usual. He looked as if he didn’t know whether to stay or go.But then a new message from Jill lit up his phone screen. I had caught a glimpse of the content. She wore a maid's costume, barely covering anything.Desire darkened his eyes before he wrestled it under control.“Are you sure you’re okay, Emma? If there’s anything—anything at all—don’t keep it in. I’m your husband. I’ll always be your strongest support.”I turned my face to the sid

I wandered home in a daze, the night wind biting through my clothes.By the time I returned, it was already past midnight.I had assumed Noah wouldn’t be coming home tonight, but to my surprise, he was at the villa. He was holding his phone, about to call me. When he saw me step through the door, his panicked expression softened with visible relief.“Darling, where have you been this late at night? I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”With practiced gentleness, Noah took my coat and scarf and hung them carefully on the rack.He had always been considerate.Ever since my health had declined, he’d forbidden me from lifting a finger, hiring chefs to ensure I never cooked for more than the strict weekly limit he’d imposed. But when he spotted the lunchbox still in my hand, his composure cracked.“Why are you still holding your lunchbox?”I let out a soft laugh and placed it in his hands.“I was going to bring it to you, but by the time I got to your office, everything was al

  • Love Gone Hollow   Chapter 1

I was carrying a lunchbox to Noah Lester’s office. It was already late at night, and the building had emptied hours ago.Only the lights in Noah’s office still burned brightly. The sharp click of my heels echoed down the hallway, but it couldn’t drown out the soft moans coming from his office. He and his new secretary hadn’t even bothered to shut the door properly. I could clearly hear their voices.“Mr. Lester,” she purred. “You’re always so rough with me. Tell me—am I the one you love most?”Through the narrow crack in the door, I saw Jill Spencer draped across his body.He must’ve been drinking as his words were slurred, but I couldn’t tell how much of what he said was true.“Love you? Don’t be ridiculous. I just like doing you. The one I love most is obviously my wife.“She’s my muse—my first love, the one I cherished in my youth. She’s the love of my life. No one will ever come close.”I stood frozen in place. My hand gripped the doorknob, but I couldn’t bring myself
