Her Engagement

"Max? No. He wouldn't do this to me. I can't misjudge someone this badly. It must be someone who used his name to do this to me." Kiara spoke lightly.

She knew that the culprit succeeded with his or her plan. Now either that person has her video of sexual intercourse with a man or either her video of going in and outside the room with this man is with that person.

Just when she realized that she instantly removed her blue blouse and then her jeans. She didn't realize how comfortably she was changing her clothes when a man was still present in that room.

Leaving her clothes on the floor she wore that man's clothes instead. It was too big for her but his belt helped her in a big way. She cared less about her looks or how weird she must be looking. Wearing his shoes she took her bag again.

She knows that there can be a possibility of this man being a part of the plan of ruining her, however, she still felt bad about taking his clothes and leaving him with nothing.

Placing few bills on the table, Kiara didn't waste another second before leaving the room.

As soon as the door was closed, the man on the bed finally opened his eyes and smirked. Taking the bed frame's support he sat comfortably. Looking around the messed-up room he found Kiara's clothes on the floor and those handsome amounts of bills on the table.

Staring at those bills he couldn't help but snicker. "So you were here by mistake…too."

After changing her clothes to a royal blue gown with a front slit in the mall, Kiara took another taxi as she made a call with a driver's cell phone.

"What the hell Cathy! Where are you?"

"Hmm? Me? On my bed of course. It's too early for me to wake up."

"You!!! Idiot, wake up right now! Today is my engagement! How can you forget that!" Kiara almost shouted out loud in frustration. She should have reached the venue by now. She can't imagine what might be happening there. How much her grandfather must be angry. And then Max, who must be worried sick about her by now.

"Engagement?" Cathy paused before shouting. "FUCK!! I am really sorry. Where are you? Are you at the venue already? Are you already engaged! Wait! Don't put the ring on his finger, I'll be there in half an hour promise! Please don't put the ring on!"

"Shut up and come to the wedding already. I haven't reached the venue either." Kiara grumpily spoke as she looked outside the car window.

"Ohh thank goodness. I promise I'll be there in half an hour. But wait a minute whose number is this."

"Driver's. My phone is dead."

"Ohh. Okay, don't worry I'll be there soon." Cathy said and hurriedly hung up the call.

Kiara exhaustedly exhaled. She just woke up half an hour ago but feels like she is all drained. She knows that it wasn't just mentally but physically too.

She doesn't remember much from last night, but she does remember those moans she gave to that man's work on her, which at the moment she badly wants to forget.

Those memories were only making her feel anxious more and more. Within fifteen minutes she reached the venue. Showing her invitation card, she walked inside the venue.

She was surrounded by all the guests she invited herself. Tucking her cap lower, she avoided all eye contact. Her clothes were fine, in fact, she only bought something in which she would look like a guest too but the cap and the mask she was wearing were still eye-catching.

Walking inside the venue just when she was about to take a right turn to take an elevator for a bride room, she suddenly felt like everyone got paused. Strangely all the buzzing stopped in one second.

Kiara got goosebumps. She halted as she got a very bad premonition from that silence. Gulping lightly she walked inside the hall like other guests. Her fist clenched hard when she saw what was actually happening.

"Ria... Max...?"

In front of her, both her boyfriend and her step-sister were standing on stage with fake smiles. Where Ria was wearing a dress that Kiara selected for herself for the engagement, Max was also in his engagement suit.

Her eyes wavered as she looked around the room and finally saw that on board, it was written, Ria and Max nowhere were written, Kiara.

Seeing that Kiara almost staggered back with shock. 'Is this happening for real?' Kiara couldn't believe her eyes.

-"What the hell is going on here?" One of the guests asked his friend. "Wasn't Mr. Miller getting engaged to Miss Kiara?"

-"Of course he was. But last night the news was circulated that Mr. Miller broke his engagement with Miss Kiara because he loves Miss Ria instead. And that's why as you can see Miss Kiara isn't here."

-"What? You gotta be kidding me. Does someone actually not like Miss Kiara? What is there not to like?"

-"I know right?" Another guest supported that argument. "Compared to Ria, Kiara is way more beautiful than anyone I've ever seen. Not just her beauty but her nature, her work, her background, and everything is par compared to Ria."

-"Well with Miss Kiara, Mr. Miller can't run for the CEO'S seat. But with Ria, he can easily do that. Moreover, he would get Ria's shares to support where Kiara would never let that happen."

-"So selfish. If he wanted this, why would he have agreed to marry Kiara in the first place."

-"That ...even I don't know."

-"I feel so bad for Miss Kiara."

-"She must be crying in her room by now. Or might even be thinking about injuring herself in sorrow. Not to forget I heard that Miss Kiara actually loves Mr. Miller a lot."

-"It's such a pity that this happened to her."

Kiara who was standing just behind those guests heard them loud and clear. She couldn't help but give a low chuckle to herself.

'What happened Kiara? You just said that you can't misjudge someone this badly. Max would never do that to you... Guests might not know the reason for this last moment of cancellation but you do... Ria and Max both wanted to shame you in front of everyone... Now you get it?'

This whole situation was making her feel very upset but losing herself is not an option here.

Kiara once again looked around. Seeing the corridor is completely empty now, she took that path and walked straight backstage. On her way, she removed both mask and cap.

Letting all her hair down, she took wet wipes out of her bag and wiped her face properly. Before entering the door, she unhurriedly applied a lip gloss on her lips and above her eyes before giving her face the last touch-up with eyeliner.

Tying her hair in a messy bun, she let a few flicks run down her side cheeks.

When she was sure about her emotions, she took a deep breath before entering the hall from backstage to the stage.
