Diego's POV

Leonardo was too close to Adriana, his hands reaching out as if he had any right to touch her.

He turned to look at me, his eyes widened and mouth opened slightly.

I lunged forward, shoving him away from Adriana. “What the hell were you doing?”

I wasn't touching her, Diego. I didn't do anything.”

He stepped away from her, still staring at me. I strode to Adriana and held her face up.

“Did you drink?”

“I didn't. They forced me to drink,” she spoke softly, her voice barely audible.

“Who forced you to drink? Tell me!”

“Leonardo forced the drink into my mouth and the others supported him. No one came to help me, Diego.”

I glared at Leonardo and the others, my fists clenching. He stepped back, shaking his head.

“You forced her to drink? Did you forget who I am?

“I— I didn't force her, Diego. I really— didn't,” Leonardo stuttered.

I glanced at Adriana and she looked uncomfortable, her eyes darting between us. I could see the fear in her expression, and it fueled my rage.

  • Love In The Shadows    TRIGGERING ADRIANA'S ALLERGIES

Mr Antonio's POV I sat on a single seat couch, sipping a cup of tea. Delgado descended from the stairs, holding two large envelopes. He sat on the long sofa beside me, leaning back on the seat.“Why did you come to Diego's house to find me? Don't you know it's risky?” I asked.“Enough with your questions. We have other important things to talk about.”I sighed. “You never listen to me.”“Don't try to kill Javier again,” he said. “Forget about him.”I narrowed my eyes, my brows furrowing. “Why should I not go ahead with it?”He glared, his expression hard. “Should I remind you how many times you've failed in your plans?”I looked away, my mood shifting. “So, what should I do? Do you have another way to kill him?”“Focus on killing your son, I'll handle the rest.”I stared at him. “Why can't you do it?“You're closer to him than I am. I can't let myself be seen,” he said, his tone sharp.“I'll try.”“Don't try. Get it done in five days time,” he said, his voice loud. “It's not possib

  • Love In The Shadows    GETTING DRUNK

Adriana's POV I stopped, my hand resting on the door knob. A knot tightened in my stomach; I had no desire to be in the presence of strangers, especially not alone.Without thinking, I opened the door as fast as I could and wanted to leave. However, I was stopped by another young man who entered into the room.“Were you about to leave?” he asked, smirking.“Yes, I need to go and meet my husband.”“There's no rush, get in first. Leonardo insists.”He tried to grab my hand and take me inside but I moved back; away from him, and slid my hands behind me.The men noticed my hesitation and exchanged glances, a predatory glint in their eyes.“We just wanna chat with you. It's nothing bad,” one of them said, his voice dripping with a mix of amusement and challenge.“Don't mind my friends. They like joking all the time,” Leonardo said. I felt my heart race; I didn’t want to be rude, but the thought of staying in the room made my skin crawl. There were six men in the room and they all looked d

  • Love In The Shadows    IN A PARTY WITH DIEGO

Adriana's POV My mind raced with thoughts. Why was he suddenly asking me these questions? Why did he want to know? With each question he asked, I felt a sense of insecurity washing over me.“I–I don't know how I felt.”“Why don't you know how you felt? It happened in front of you.”“It's–been a while since it happened. I can't remember clearly.”“Wh…..“Please, stop asking the questions,” I said. “A fashion designer will be here hours before the party tomorrow to get you ready. Don't be late,” he said and left the room, shutting the door behind him.The moment he left, I slumped on the bed, my body as light as a feather. His sudden questions ran through my mind and I squinted my eyes trying to figure it out. He had finally spoken to me since when I returned and this was what he said. Unbelievable.I shut my eyes, embracing the cool breeze that blew across the room. The evening air was soft and calm and I heard the night birds chirping in sync.|||The next day approached quickly an

  • Love In The Shadows    I HAVE FALLEN FOR HIM

Adriana's POV {One month later}As I stood in front of the entrance door of Diego's house, my heart raced. I felt a knot form in my stomach as I stood, hesitant to enter inside the house. I sighed twice, hoping that my racing heart would calm down.I tightened my grip on my suitcase. I exhaled and opened the door, the door moving at the same slow pace as me. I stepped inside. How would Diego react to seeing me? Will his expression towards me change this time around? It had been a month since I last set foot here, and I couldn't deny the flutter in my chest as I looked around.Luckily, Diego was neither in the living room nor in sight.Staying at my father's house was a way to escape the chaos of my life with Diego. But as the days turned into weeks, I found myself thinking of him—unusually in a good way.I missed him.The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. I had grown accustomed to his brooding presence and the constant way he fought with me. It was a feeling I couldn't quite

  • Love In The Shadows    HE HAS BEEN RESUSCITATED

Mr Antonio's POV I sat in the dining room, eating lunch when my phone buzzed. I peeked at the screen as it lay on the table and the caller was one of my men.I answered and put it on speaker to hear him. “What's the update?”“Boss, I've done the job.”“What do you mean? You've killed him?”“Yes, boss. I've killed him,” he said. The fork and knife clattered as I dropped it on the glass plate. “Did you check to see if he was really dead?”“I had to leave there immediately,” he said. “But I'm sure that he's dead.”I nodded my head, exhaling deeply. “Alright, you've done a good job. Leave there with the rest of my men immediately.”I hung up the call, my lips curling up in a smile. Just as I picked up the glass of water to drink, my phone buzzed again.I inhaled deeply and slammed the glass back on the table when I saw the caller's Id. Nevertheless, I had to pick the call.“You've finally accomplished the task. The hardwork paid off.”“What are you insinuating?”“I’ve heard already,” he
