Liam’s POV

The storm kept getting worse, and we had been out here for almost three hours. Worst of all, there wasn’t any signal to phone anyone. Classic Aliya—leaving the house unprepared. I mean, who moves without extra tires?

“Fuck! I still can’t get to William or anyone!” Aliya yelled out of frustration, and honestly, I was becoming tired of her constant screaming.

“Do you know we can save a lot of energy if we just stay quiet?” I remarked, turning my attention to her.

“Nick, you do know you can be more helpful by trying to call someone for help, right? How do you expect me to stay calm when we’re stranded in my car, in the middle of nowhere, no signal, and a crazy storm?” She kept ranting, and my ears kept bleeding.

“Can you just shut the hell up?” I snapped, startling her as her eyes widened. “Just stop talking, Aliya. Besides, I’m not the one who leaves for a journey without taking important things like a tire.”

The car went silent, and the only sounds being heard now was the ra

  • My Contract Husband Is The Enemy   Chapter 89

Liam’s POVThe night air was sharp as we pulled out of the driveway. The streets were too empty, and my grip on the steering wheel was tighter than I realized.I should’ve been focused on the road, on the fact that my sister, Brooke, might be fighting for her life. Instead, my mind was sprinting in a thousand directions.I knew Brooke too well—knew her like I knew my own reflection. Every fake smile, every forced tear she’d ever used to get her way. The thought slipped into my head before I could stop it.What if this is just another one of her games? Maybe she just wanted attention. She’d pulled it before, faking a kidnapping just to mess with me, and it always worked like magic.Guilt punched me square in the chest. Maybe I was a terrible brother for even letting that thought cross my mind. No matter what Brooke had done, and God, she had done plenty, she was still my blood.I swallowed hard and forced my eyes forward, the yellow lines on the asphalt blurring. Then I glanced at Aliy

  • My Contract Husband Is The Enemy   Chapter 88

Liam’s POV I’d been pacing my study for hours, pretending to read a file I hadn’t turned a page on in twenty minutes. My head was a mess, but not because of business or my sister who may have gone completely crazy— it was her. Always her. Aliya Van Alen was like a splinter under my skin. You try to ignore it, but every move, and every breath, reminds you it’s there, digging deeper, irritating the nerve until you either rip it out or let it fester until it drives you insane. I’d been trying to give her space, trying to convince myself that if she hated me enough, she’d finally cut the cord between us. But then I saw the car headlights outside the gate. That sleek little white car she loved so much that I could recognize anywhere, even in my sleep. She just sat there. I stood at the upstairs window, arms folded, watching her like some stalker in his own home. For a moment, I thought maybe she’d come to tell me it was over for good. Or maybe she’d come to slap me, to throw o

  • My Contract Husband Is The Enemy   Chapter 87

Aliya’s POV I lifted my head from the steering wheel after sitting there for what felt like hours, almost waiting for the car to whisper an answer if I should drive through Liam’s gates and fight to get my man back, or turn around, head home, and celebrate with Bran. I had parked just outside his gates, close enough to see lights flicker on and off in different rooms, but I hadn’t moved an inch. What exactly was I going to say? “Oh, Liam, our souls somehow tied the day we met in that bathroom, and now I can’t stand to watch you leave me?” It sounded pathetic even as I said it aloud. I wanted to tell him I was here if he ever needed me. That I forgave him, that I wasn’t angry anymore, and that I was sorry—sorry for holding his resentment toward my father for hurting his mum, against him. Yes, he had hurt me, and yes, he had been wrong, but did I truly want him to stay away? Could I keep fooling myself into believing I wanted revenge? If I really did, I would have acte

  • My Contract Husband Is The Enemy   Chapter 86

Aliya’s POVIt was no secret that my life had been a complete wreck from the night I lost my mom, right up to this moment, when I’d just learned the only man who once made life worth living might be about to lose his own.The taste of revenge had never been this bitter. It wasn’t satisfying—it was hollow. All purpose and all drive, suddenly drained out of me.It had been a full week since I last saw or heard from Liam and his nut job of a sister, after she nearly tried to kill me for the second time.I should have felt relieved they were finally out of my life. Heck, I should have thrown a party or bought a cake. But I wasn’t even close to relaxed. Something in me felt off, like my entire world was leaning at the wrong angle.I wanted to know where he was, how he was doing, if he was in chemo right now or lying in some hospital bed. I wanted to find him, run into his arms, and tell him I’d shatter if I lost him, that I wouldn’t be the same if what Brooke said was true. All these thing

  • My Contract Husband Is The Enemy   Chapter 85

Liam’s POVI had never seen a woman so pretty in deception. Aliya embodied it like a beautiful evening gown and made sure to stand out.As I stared at her and Brooke’s shocked faces, I couldn’t help but chuckle.I was a De Luca. I couldn’t be fooled—and worst of all, not by a woman. I knew it all. I knew I couldn’t be easily forgiven, but I didn’t care. I was ready for her to take her revenge on me and let me into her life after she was satisfied.Aliya was no saint, but she wasn’t a devil either. She wasn’t an angel to me, and despite finding out she tried to drug me and made me sign those documents, I couldn’t help but fall deeper in love with her.The smartest woman I knew. My Aliya.“Liam, you can’t be serious, right?” Aliya asked, her face still frozen in shock.Brooke tightened her grip on the gun pointed at Aliya’s head, rage boiling beneath her skin. I could tell I had disappointed her once again.“What have you done to my brother, you witch?” she snapped, glaring at Aliya wit

  • My Contract Husband Is The Enemy   Chapter 84

Aliya’s POV It had been over twenty minutes and I was still racking my brain, trying to figure out what the hell I could have done to make Brooke hate me this much, but nothing came to mind. “So what exactly are we waiting for now? You should just pull the trigger already,” I said, instantly regretting it the second it left my mouth. “I know you’re eager to die by my hands,” she replied with a smirk and a wink, “but I’ll only make that move when Liam gets here.” “Liam’s coming here?” I asked, alarmed, but she ignored me completely. I might owe Camille an apology for calling her crazy, because Brooke was in a different league entirely. “Can I at least use the bathroom? We’ve been here for almost an hour,” I asked, hoping to trick her somehow—maybe contact the police. But the sharp glare she gave me told me everything: there was absolutely nothing I could do now but sit still and wait for whatever twisted plan she was plotting. “You’re a very cunning woman, Aliya. Do y
