So what? He is just going to walk away like that? No.

Alena followed her husband to the living room.

"Hey!" she said, hitting his back. "What do you take me for?" she asked, glaring at him. "I'm not going to turn my back on my friends just because you want me to."

Edmund glared at her, and was about to speak, but she cut him off. "No. Let me finish — You can't control my life, Edmund James Cardinal. He has more than a friend to me. He has always been like my brother. And you want me to turn my back on him? That's not happening. I'm not going to tell him to leave me alone, and even if you tell him to, that's not going to stop me."

He just looked at her, his face emotionless.

"I'm not Irina," she continued. "So you can't control everything I do."

His face still emotionless. "You do it or I will." His hand reach for her face, but she slapped it away.
