Jason couldn't move when Emily calmly told him that the man who left with her was her ex-boyfriend. Emily doesn't mean to torture Jason with pain; she wants Jason to know what it's like to be doomed.

There is another hidden fact and side of Emily's relationship with Alex, actually. They used to like each other, but it's not true they were ever in love. Emily just wanted to play with Jason.

"What did you say? Ex-lover? And you went to the law institute with your ex-lover; what for, Emily?" asked Jason with a raised intonation. Jealousy maybe was the underlying attitude of Jason at the moment.

Although he had hurt Emily many times, this was the first time he knew how it felt. And being jealous is very unpleasant.

"Yes, is there a problem?" asked Emily with a tone of voice that was inversely proportional to that of Jason. The woman seemed so calm and guarded in her speech.

"You asked, 'is there a problem'? The problem is that you're my wife, Em! Are you starting to lose your mind?" h
