A year had flown by since Camilla had been diagnosed with Keratoconus. Dr Cockburn had put her on the corneal transplant list and were biding their time. In the interim, she went for continual checkups. Bradford ensured she ate well, got enough rest and kept her blood pressure down.

It had been a year since Marshall had left for university, though he had been back home for long vacations and the festive season.

Marshall hadn't seen Lloyd or Danielle, since she had left for America to study. Though they had texted each other frequently at first, Danielle's responses became few and far between.

During Marshall's first year of residency he didn't have much time to party like the others did. His focus was on finishing what he aimed to do.

The holiday season was fast closing in. Meghan was almost nineteen by now and Morgan was twelve. One more year and Morgan would be a teenager. Next year Meghan would be going to Bolton University to study.

  • Love Prevails    A Special New Year

This New Year would be a special one. All the Hemingways were invited to the Home of Bradford and Camilla. It was the year that Meghan would be leaving for university. Marshall would be in his third year of residency but more so, it was a special occasion because Grandpa Hemmingway, was having New Year's at home rather than with the family and Grandpa would be celebrating his ninetieth birthday. As both sides of the family gathered together for this momentous occasion, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and nostalgia. This was not only a celebration of the new year, but it was a demonstration of how two families became so closely intertwined. The dining room was decorated with the festivities of the new year and a poignant occasion of Grandpa turning ninety. Joining them for this occasion was Danielle. Meeting her at the door, Marshall greeted her, pulling her in to him and placing a tender, passionate kiss on her soft, lush lips. "I'm glad you came," he said, holding on

  • Love Prevails    Unbridled Passion

Inside the room, he held her up against the wall. His arms were around her waist. It was the first time for both of them, but they felt ready. They both wanted this moment. They surrendered to the intoxicating allure of their desires. His thumb trailing her, plump, soft and enticing lips. He leaned in, parting her lips with his tongue. "God how I want you," he whispered, as his lips played, sensually, with her earlobe. Each kiss was a promise and each caress was a build up to their unyielding passion.Pausing, he looked at her, a sensitivity in his eyes, "are you sure?" he asked. "I'm sure," she responded, somewhat breathless. "If we do this, "there's no going back for us," he said. "I don't want to go back," her body ached for him to touch her. Searching her lips once again, he claimed them with a passion so fierce her juices between her legs began to get wetter."Touch me," she murmured breathless. Slowly, he carried her over to the bed. Both very inexperienced. They began t

  • Love Prevails    An Elites Ball

The following weekend was New Year's Eve. The Elites Ball was taking place at Delamere Manor. A country estate that is secluded and perfectly situated, stretching over a hundred acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside. Surrounded by parkland, meadows, woodland and a gorgeous six-acre lake. This was the perfect place. With enough guest suits to sleep over. As Camilla and Bradford were preparing for a night of splendor. A night where they wouldn't be the hosts or do the cleaning the next day. The morning of the event, Camilla went to a boutique for her evening gown, taking Meghan along with her. Looking through a few of the dresses, one in particular caught Meghan's eye. "Mom, this dress would be perfect for you. Can you imagine what dad will say when he sees you in it," she smiled wistfully, her eyes shining brilliantly as she selected the perfect dress for her mother. Camilla, herself, fell in love with the dress. Scouting around their eyes fell upon a second dress, perfectly tai

  • Love Prevails    A Visit For The Holidays

December arrived pretty quickly. If you know anything about England, the best time of the year is usually December. With the exams completed, Meghan was awaiting the results. She had applied to Bolton University and had been accepted. The following year she would be out of the house, which left only Morgan at home.Meghan was the splitting image of her mother with her wavy-jet-black hair that cascaded around her shoulders. Her bluish eyes changed to green in the sunlight. Morgan looked so much like his brother at the age of twelve you could have sworn they were identical twins except for the age difference. Camilla's eyes were healing nicely, and the corneal graft had been a great success thanks to the medical staff at Oxford University Medical. A week before Christmas. Marshall was due to arrive home any way now. Camilla would have all her children together under one roof. Schools were closed, and the children had received their school results. Meghan did exceptionally well, pas

  • Love Prevails    Twisted Tides

Camilla ended up being in hospital for four days after the surgery. "Mom, good news, you get to go home today," Marshall said, giving her the good news. "That will be amazing," Camilla smiled, "though I have enjoyed having my son give me preferential treatment. By the way, how are things going with Danielle?"Marshall looked down, "Mom, she's seeing someone else," he explained what had transpired. "Don't give up. You will find someone when the time is right," she expressed, "Dad is on the way, you go back to work. I will be okay here." He gave his mom and hugged, "see you in December," he said bidding her goodbye. Marshall went back to his rounds. After he finished, Amanda, the blond, slim woman, got him in the cafeteria grabbing a bite to eat. "Hey handsome," she greeted him. "Hey yourself," he responded, grabbing a table. Amanda took this as an opportunity to sit with him. Noticing Danielle walking in, he drew his attention towards her. "Why? Why, Danielle, can't you just be

  • Love Prevails    You Are All That I Need

That evening, before going to bed, Marshall face-timed them. "Mom, did you guys get to the doctor for your eyes?" he asked. "We did, son. Dad found the best in Cheshire. Dr Nicole..." "Wait, don't tell me you've gotten the best ophthalmological surgeon?" Marshall interrupted. Impressed by the news. "We did. Dad knows her personally from his university days," Camilla said. "This is mega awesome. I have also changed. I'm going to be studying ophthalmology and surgery as well. She's my lecturer. But dad, don't tell her who I am, please," he begged. "Don't worry son," Bradford assured him. "Anyway, back to the topic, mom, what did she say?" he asked. Camilla hadn't told the rest of the family yet. "She says I have Keratoconus. The worst she had ever seen. Both horizontal and vertical scarring," she explained to her son. "And what can be done mom?" concern grew in his voice. "There's very little that can be done. She's given me certain foods to eat and supplements to take. I will

  • Love Prevails    Dreaded News

Don't neglect your eyes or your vision. They are the windows to your soul. Keratoconus is real. It's a corneal disease. October is Keratoconus month. Keratoconus is a condition in which the clear tissue on the front of the eye (cornea) bulges outward. Also, common: a rim of discoloration around the front of the eye (fleischer ring)Marshall had been away from home for 2 months at university. Camilla was still missing her son terribly. The house was quieter than usual and not hearing him call his sister squirt was paining her. In those two months Camilla's eyesight was no better, in fact it had deteriorated drastically. One day, while attempting to cross the road to the

  • Love Prevails    Marshall's Moments

It was just a few days until the end of the year. Big celebrations were being planned for the end of the year. Marshall would be heading off to start his first semester at Oxford University Medical School. Camilla had started having issues with her vision. At first, they thought it was to do with her blood pressure, which had started up. The sight began deteriorating fast. "Bradford," Camilla said, "What if I lose my sight?" she cried. "No baby, think positive," he encouraged her. The fear of never being able to see again, was haunting her. "Mom, you need to find a doctor who can treat you properly," Marshall urged his mom, feeling despondent. The New Year's Eve Ball was being held that Tuesday evening. A Black Tie event. The first one since the pandemic. All the staff, as well as directors and board members were to be present. Marshall had also invited Lloyd and Danielle as this would be the last time they saw each other until the end of the semester. Thinking about this crus
