Aurora

The moment we stepped outside the car, my eyes darted up the large building in front of us as Adrian held my hand, leading me inside the restaurant.

We entered inside, my gaze traveled the expanse of the restaurant, and if I hadn't been a little self-conscious; my jaw would have dropped at how grand the place was.

There were couples in almost every seat, dining, whispering, or giggling about something. The whole place had a major blend of deep red that screamed luxury.

A hostess with a bright smile and lovely blonde hair approached almost immediately as she spotted us inside.

“Good evening.” She greeted, “Do you have a reservation?”

“Rossi,” Adrian replied, slipping a hand into his pocket and pulling out a deep red and small card, which he handed to her.

The hostess took the card and stared at it for a while. Then her smile widened in recognition. “Of course. This way, please.”

We followed her past a few tables where couples leaned close together. The sound of

♞ Adrian: Fuck, I knew something was wrong somewhere when she hadn't been answering her calls. “Turn the car around.” I said, my eyes finding Christian’s in the rearview mirror. He arched his brow. “I should turn the car around? To where? We are almost at the airport already.” “Turn the fucking car around,” I demanded, and without another word, he took a turn at an intersection. Trish's worried voice continued from the other end, reminding me that the call was still on. “We were talking about the message she got from an anonymous number. It's been going on for months now, and I wanted to have a friend of mine track the number—” A deep frown creased up my brows. “Anonymous what?” I asked. Trish went silent for a moment before she continued, “She didn't tell you?” No, she didn't. Because I haven't heard anything about messages from an anonymous number. And the mere thought of where this was heading left a sharp worry in my chest. “No. What messages are you talking abo

♞ Adrian: “Is it that important? Can't we reschedule or cancel the meeting?” I said, absentmindedly tapping the table in my office an hour later. I had to get something and sign some files before leaving. A deep breath escaped my lips, and I cast a look at Christian, who was standing across the table, scrolling through something on his tab. I didn't like the idea of leaving her even if it was going to be less than 48 hours before I returned to the city. It just didn't fucking sit right with me. My gaze dropped to my phone, and I scrolled through the contacts, tapping on hers. It rang and rang for minutes, but again the call wasn't answered. Was she busy? That could be the only reason why I had called numerous times, but it kept directing me to voicemail. Christian looked up from the tab and spared me a glance before shaking his head. “We can't reschedule. Or even cancel. And this has been in your schedule for a while now; you must have forgotten about it.” I shook my he

♛ Aurora: The charity project was finally coming to life, and I could see it clearly right before my eyes. Covering my face from the rays of the sunlight, I glanced up at the tall buildings, which had been completed already, except for the furnishings. I glanced around at the workers, searching for Dan, and I saw him walking over to where I was. “It’s been a while since we last saw you around.” The sun brightened his facial features, and his lips pulled into a smile as he stared down at me. “A while?” I chuckled, “I was here a couple of days back.” Dan brushed his fingers through his hair, coming to stand right beside me and staring up at the buildings as I had been doing before she arrived. “It seems like that was ages ago. I was already used to having you around here most of the days to inspect.” I smiled. “Well, that's true.” For a while, none of us said a thing. My gaze traveled around the face of the workers, and I couldn't help but ask, “What about the worker th

♞Adrian: “Adrian,” my mother said lightly, drawing back my attention to her. “Don’t scowl. She means well.” I scoffed, “I shouldn't scowl? How many times do you want me to tell you that I don't want Lucy?” She ignored the tone in my voice and shrugged her shoulders. “Lucy is who I want for you. Because I'm your mother, and I know what is best for you.” The card she was pulling at the moment was not going to work, and she must have seen the anger in my eyes, because she added, “I'm warning you. Don't throw her out of your house in my absence.” I didn’t answer to that, because I was seconds away from doing exactly just that. Her gaze dropped to the time on her phone, and she gave me a gentle smile. “Anyway, I think I should leave now.” Without another word, she walked past me. I wasn't sure how long I stood outside, but it wasn't until I heard the sound of her car pulling out of the driveway that I finally stepped inside the door to the house. The moment I stepped inside the l

♞Adrian: The car rolled to a stop when we got to the site. My gaze shifted to Rory, who was sitting beside me and staring out the window. She had been avoiding glancing in my direction after I asked her the question that had been in my mind all week. Her freezing at the question was all it took for me to know I had done something wrong and asked at a very wrong time. Fuck, I was to blame. I had let my father’s words and my mother’s consistent pestering get to me, blinding me from patience and making me ask such a question at a very random moment, unprepared. “We’re here,” I said, brushing my fingers against her thigh, pulling her back to the present. She blinked, finally dragging her eyes away from the gates of the site and glancing at me. Her lips parted as she nodded slowly, “We're here.” I tilted my head, watching her too closely to miss the shadow in her eyes. “What’s wrong?” Everything was wrong; I messed up. I couldn't clearly see the response in her eyes, but she sh

♛Aurora: “On a different occasion I never would have said it,” I muttered under my breath a little while later. Adrian wasn't done with brushing my hair; in fact, he had to brush it back again. “Are you sure?” he chuckled.“I am.” His eyes flickerd to mine on the mirror. And the expression on his face softened, “It’s one night. You’ll survive without me breathing down your neck.” I rolled my eyes, wrapping my towel around me tighter and brushing my fingers across my exposed arm. “I wasn’t planning to collapse without you here.” His grin returned. “Good.” When I huffed out a breath, and shrugged my shoulders. He chuckled, finally releasing my hand. His fingers gently massaged my head, and a sigh escaped my lips as my head fell back slightly, the sensation of his fingers settling something inside me. Then he tugged gently and packed everything in one go with the hair tie. After that, he stepped back, and I finally opened my eyes, not exactly pleased with the warmth of his bod
