051 They Have A History

Kitty was a bit off for the whole rest of the night. She didn't know how to tell Curtis that she won't be working here anymore, so she kept that to herself till the end of their shift.

That was NOT a restful night for her.

No, there wasn't any more Perse's man on her tail, at least they won't be able to get into the hotel; no, she no longer needs to worry about starving the next day, or having no place to sleep, yet somehow, it felt like there were more trouble in her life than before.

For the whole night, those troubles had been haunting her in her dreams.

She dreamed first of Emma disappearing into darkness with Perses's laugh by her ears, she ran into the darkness that devoured Emma, only to find herself ending up on a dry shore facing a waste land that she knew somehow used to be the sea, but without the water, the land seemed dead to her.

The aura of death was so dreadful that she panted in her dream wanting to escape from the horrfying scene, and that was when she fell into a third dream.

It was a beautiful place, and she was standing by the edge of a forest. A silver wolf was there too.

"Erebus!" She wanted to shout, but she couldn't make any sound, and the silver wolf began to leave into the forest.

"Don't leave!" She was getting anxious and began to ran, but she couldn't get near the forest however hard she tried.

Then, there was another wolf appeared by the side of Erebus. It was a female. Kitty could tell. The female wolf had long, beaming brown fur, and a pair of green eyes, which were fixed on Erebus.

"Don't leave me..." Kitty mumbled. She stood there watching them disappeared into the forest together, not able to move her body.

A voice rose by her ear: "You don't belong here." Kitty turned her head in horror, and she found out that the owner of that voice was Curtis!

"No!" Kitty screamed, and the ground under her feet suddenly disappeared. She fell backwards with her hands in front of her trying to grab onto anything as a reflexion, and Curtis just stood there, laughing at her...

Kitty felt a falling feel so real that she frowned as she struggled in the bed, only to realized it was all a dream.

Her eyes flew open as she lied in bed, stilly, not daring to move. She left the dream world, but the horror she felt followed her out. She was panting hard, and all sweaty under the soft cover.

Kitty her arms out of the cover and hugged it into her arms so she would feel safer. It took her quite some time before she finally drifted into sleep again, and it felt like only minutes after when she was woken up by a text alart on her phone.

It was from Erebus: Let me know when you want to go.

Kitty rubbed her eyes and sat up in her bed, only then did she realize it was already 10 in the morning! No wonder Erebus sent a text.

She rushed out of her bed and dragged her messy thoughts with her through a fast fresh up and a faster breakfast. She finally felt better when she put on her cozy coat with the paint brush neatly in her pocket did she felt a bit safer and calmer again.

She text Erebus on her way out: On my way out. Meet you in five?

And she opened her door, only to find that Curtis was standing right outside.

Kitty sighed in her head as she quickly sent another message: Sorry, make it ten...

"Have anything you wanna tell me?" Curtis said with a smirk on his face as he pushed against the wall so Kitty won't try to escape.

"Besides the fact that I no longer work here?" Kitty said with a genuine questioning tone.

"Let's settle that one first." Curtis squinted his eyes as if not satisfied with her answer.

"Well then, did you know?" Kitty held her arms up in front of her chest and started with a question.

"Yes, I did. But I was asked to not reveal that fact to anyone." Curtis was a bit surprised, realizing he was no prince to her right now, and she really didn't own him any explanation. If any, he owned her.

"Then I was hoping that me no longer working here would at least makes more sense to you?" Kitty was NOT gonna go easy on him now that he came to her with an accusation tone.

"I'm sorry. But I couldn't--" Curtis said.

"It's fine. You are forgiven. Anything else?" Kitty cut him off. She particularly hate being demanded for explanations of her actions when she didn't do anything wrong.

"Not really, no." Curtis pulled back his hand. He was upset because he thought Erebus fired her only to keep her away from himself. He wasn't going to get his way if he neither reveal his identity to her, nor take cautious in his demanding action as how he used to being a prince.

"I just want to let you know," Curtis added as Kitty turned to leave, "I won't give up on you."

"Thanks for being sweet." Kitty turned to reply, "But you don't even know me."

"I know more than you think." Curtis grinned at her, "You might not know this, but we have met before."

"What?!" Kitty gasped at that, "When and where?!"

"Universal studio on the east shore, ten years ago." Curtis didn't even pause with that answer, "I fell in love with a blue haired girl on first sight."

"How can you be sure it was me?" Kitty was shocked. She WAS there, at a Universal studio ten years ago.

"Ask me again when you remembered." Curtis smirked as he turned and left, leaving Kitty there frozen shocked.

"Are you alright? You look a bit pale." Erebus asked as he opened the car for Kitty minutes later when she finally brought herself to get down to the entre of the hotel.

"Umm, yeah... I didn't sleep well..." Kitty said as she got into the car.

"Sorry to hear that." Erebus sat down in the driver's seat, "You know you are safe here, right?"

"Ohh, yes, of course. It was just a lot on my mind. Don't worry about it." Kitty quickly answered.

"Okay." Erebus said softly without any further query into that.

"What are you thinking?" After a few silent minutes in the car, Erebus asked.

Kitty had been gazing out the window with a deep thought look, frowning. Something was obviously bothering her, and it pained Erebus to see her like that.

"I'm thinking..." Kitty hesitated. She didn't take Curtis's "show of heart" for real until this morning. It didn't look like a lie when he said they have met. But she couldn't remember much of that time, and she didn't even know what to remember. How could you remember a stranger you met some ten years ago just by a look in the crowd?

"It's Curtis." Kitty finally decided to out with some of the facts, "He said he had met me before, ten years ago, actually. But I couldn't remember it."

"Interesting. Did you know each other? Or you just met, once?" Erebus could feel the jealousy growing inside him. He didn't care much for Curtis's competition until now.

"Just met, or so he said." Kitty shook her head, "He knew I was at the Universal Studio, but I couldn't remember anything. It was all a blur to me now..."

"Don't worry about it. Why did he bring it up though? He just remembered?" Erebus asked casually.

"Well..." Kitty shrugged, but she didn't tell him what Curtis said. It felt weird to tell someone she liked about other men's expression of feelings.

"I'll wait for you out here." Erebus didn't push her on that answer either. He opened the door for her and gave her a smile.

Kitty soon disappeared into thin air, and Erebus pulled out his phone:

"Iapetus, I know why Curtis is sure Kitty is the daughter of Master of the Sea now. He met her, ten years ago."

Iapetus's calm voice came through the phone: "He knew the Master of the Sea?!"

"I don't think so. At least that was never revealed to anyone that the royal was in any relationship with the witches." Erebus said, "I think it's more likely that, our little prince is also involved in the massacre this time."
