Chapter 482

ผู้เขียน: Millie Bridge
Grace watched as William and I walked away.

But then, it occurred to her that someone else was suffering even more than she was. So, she looked up at Irvin.

Unable to conceal his feelings any longer, Irvin's eyes were bloodshot and filled with tears. At the sight of this, Grace laughed silently.

She really wasn't a good person. As long as someone was suffering with her—no, more than her—Grace would always feel things were bearable.

She tightened her grip on Irvin's arm as an idea came to mind. "Look how happy Ms. Quill is now, Tim. People really should keep moving forward."

Grace knew nothing she said could get Irvin to let me go. No matter what, he wouldn't look her way and think of having a life with her.

Irvin was already in agony. Knowing this, she only said those words to antagonize him further and inflict even more emotional pain on him.

As long as she was upset, she wanted to make someone else feel worse. That was the sole reason Grace had made that statement.

Irvin didn

"Jeremy, why are you wasting so many words on her? Does she even deserve that?" Mom snapped."Look how heartless and cruel she is! She's getting engaged and didn't even invite her own mother! What kind of engagement party would this be if the bride's mother wasn't even present?"Has there ever been a proper engagement in this world where the parents weren't invited? If she won't even call her parents, what's the point of getting engaged?"My mom already thought I was a terrible person—cold, heartless, even cruel. So when I got engaged and didn't invite her, her belief that I was utterly heartless only deepened."I'm telling you, no decent person would ever do something like this!"The more she ranted, the more worked up she got. Her voice rose higher and higher, completely out of control. That sharp, piercing tone immediately caught the attention of everyone nearby.Jeremy panicked and rushed to her, clamping a hand over her mouth in an attempt to shut her up. His voice was stra

I didn't say another word. I just turned and walked away.Irvin didn't stop me, either. But the moment I left, the strength he had been barely holding onto gave out. Leaning against the wall for support, he suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood. He used to laugh whenever we watched TV together and saw those overly dramatic scenes where someone was so heartbroken they spat blood. He would scoff and call it ridiculous. He never thought it was something that could happen in real life, not until after we separated. That was when he realized—when the pain was truly unbearable, the body really could break like that.Thomas Dosley, his assistant, had been frantically looking for him. They had an urgent matter to handle. When he finally found Irvin, he opened his mouth to speak but stopped cold.He saw Irvin, blood on his lips, barely able to stand.Terrified, Thomas rushed forward. "Mr. Hardwell, what happened to you?""I'm fine." Irvin waved him off weakly. But there was no way an

Irvin knew there was no longer any possibility between us, and he kept telling himself to let go and wish me happiness. Even so, he also knew how deeply I had loved him.He knew that even though I was now engaged to William and trying to start a new life, my heart probably hadn't completely let go of him.He believed that a part of me still held onto him, that I wasn't truly ready to begin a new relationship. That belief made watching me with William painful but not unbearable, not to the point of utter despair. What he never saw coming was that I hadn't just moved on with William, but we had already had a physical relationship. I was even pregnant. That shattered him.It wasn't just heartbreak anymore. It was devastation—something he couldn't even begin to handle. The blow was too much. No matter how hard he tried to hold it together, he simply couldn't. His tall, strong frame collapsed with a heavy thud.Right before our eyes, this man who had always seemed so solid, so unshak

Cordelia had been accompanying Grandma and me this entire time. Both of them were stunned by Irvin's words. They had utterly despised him because of all the terrible things he had done to me in the past. But later on, the things he had done for me had proven to them that his love for me was real.None of them had expected that the same Irvin, who once couldn't let me go, could now smile and sincerely wish me happiness with another man.For a moment, Grandma, who had originally planned to give him another earful, suddenly lost the desire to do so. She just huffed, claimed she was tired, and asked me to take her to the lounge to rest.Cordelia, who had always disliked Irvin the most, came with me to help walk Grandma over.Irvin had smiled so heartlessly on purpose, just to provoke Grandma into criticizing him. But when she didn't say anything, he froze. He just stood there, stunned, as he watched us walk away.Grandma really was tired. After I got her settled in, she had a small b

I was pretty much estranged from my family. So, even though the engagement party was held in Claudeville, I had only invited Grandma and Jeremy. I hadn't even extended an invitation to Mom, let alone my other relatives. And because this was just an engagement party, I didn't invite any of my research teammates. I only invited Mr. Holland.Hence, most of the guests at the party were here because of William. After accompanying William for a round of greetings, he went off to discuss business with someone. So, I went looking for Grandma and Cordelia.Grandma had never met William before. Today, at the engagement party, was her first time meeting him. But that didn't stop her from taking an instant liking to him.She held my hand as she looked at William, who was discussing business not far away.In a gratified tone, she said, "After you and Irvin divorced, I was always afraid you would never move on from it and would stay single for the rest of your life. "I never imagined that n
