Chapter 3: I saw her

Brian’s POV

Walking into Misty Mountain Bar I could smell her, my mate. She was here.

“Mate, mate” my wolf is screaming in my head. Jumping up and down like a pup waiting for a long-awaited present.

“Shut up! There will be no mate! So, stop your wailing.” I said with a firm tone, trying to shut him up.

“Have to go find mate, I want mate” he kept screaming, but I ignored him and walked towards the bar as I needed a drink badly after the day I had.

Me and Bruce (My beta) have been busy with the annual Rodeo.

My pack was the biggest and strongest pack in America and held a rodeo every year. We love our horses and Bruce had some bulls that were used in the rodeo. It makes us almost as normal as can be.

Keeping our identity hidden. Most of the people in Misty Mountains were werewolves, so the yearly rodeo was a big thing as it brought people and werewolves from all over the country and many have found their mates with this rodeo.

But that meant that I and Brain had to be hands-on the whole time to make sure everything went smoothly and that no one in my pack does something to jeopardize us with tensions running high.

Making my way to the bar, cents of roses mixed with fresh rain fills my nostrils and just get stronger. Closing my eyes, it is the most intoxicating smell I have ever smelled.

Then I see her. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her brown curly hair is at her shoulders. My eyes travel down her body giving me a hard-on. Her jeans are curved to her small waist with her shirt showing a little bit of her back. I have to touch her, knowing she would feel as soft as she looked. I fist my hand against my side as this is not what I want. I do not what a mate.

Final.

“Go to mate, go, go”, Cayden could not keep his excitement in check.

“Stop it now” I shouted to him again.

I have a hard-on and my pants are straining me. Making me even more grumpy than normal. Whining, he retreated back but could not stand still for a good dame minute.

Standing right behind her, I could not help as my hands had their own reaction and I put my hand on her shoulders. She was just like I imagined imagining small with the roundest hips that I could just imagen on my crock rocking my world to a screaming release as she rides me, screaming my name.

Still, in my thoughts, I hear him shouting at her, pulling me back to reality.

“Hey, you slow bitch! Do not make me wait any longer or you will be paying for the drinks and I will show you what I do to people who are slow!” Cayden almost lost it, it took everything I got to hold him back as he just wanted to rip the guy’s head off his body to talk to his mate that way.

“Stop, this is not the time or place. Plus, I do not want a mate. Get that through your thick skull will you!!” I kept shouting at Cayden so I could also calm down.

But then she slipped from my grasp and fell to the ground, seemingly passing out.

Candice came rushing to the bar to her side.

“O golly, what happened? Hailey, “

Looking at me, she looks as if she can strangle me with her bare hands even though she is about half my size. She is one of the few humans in Misty mountains, but feisty no less.

Picking up Hailey in my arms, I looked at Candice and asked

“Do you know where she lives so I can take her?”

“Me, telling you where she stays, a total stranger to do what? No way, mister, I am coming with you. I do not know what you are going to do to her! Adrian, I am taking Hailey to her apartment! Be right back” she shouts to someone and starts walking to the door.

Having her in my arms felt like heaven, her head on my chest. I felt like I could keep her there forever.

No don’t go there, this will not happen again.

Cayden was purring like a kitten knowing his mate was in his arms.

Walking into the apartment, it was so small. A couch sat in the middle of what I assume is the living room with a small kitchen to the right. I can see one door to the left, which is probably the bedroom.

The whole apartment smelled like her. Filled my nostrils making Cayden growl, thinking that his mate was living in this little place.

Lying on the small coffee table is a book.

‘Finding the Alpha’

Lifting my eyebrows, I studied the book. So, she is into werewolves. That is good to know.

Cayden is excited, but me, I don’t care as I do not what a mate is, so she will never know about us, believing, just like other humans, that we are myths.

“I have to leave. I need to deal with a small problem at the bar”, I said, and left. I can not be here any longer or Cayden will do something that we will regret later.

Breathing heavily outside in the street, I have to do everything in my power to keep from turning around and taking her right then and there in her apartment.

NO, NO, NO, I DO NOT WANT A MATE!!!

I will not do that again, giving my all, my heart, and soul to a girl just to get it ripped out. Lucy was everything I wanted, even though we were not mates, we were so much in love that the little thing they called mates did not matter. Until last year at the rodeo. I went to look for her after she did not show up for our main event. It would have been spectacular as I would have my most beautiful horse showing off for the first time in public.

She was a beautiful Pinto. I have been training her for more than a year.

Going to our hotel room, I opened the door. I can still see it.

There on our hotel bed is Lucy on top of a guy sliding up and down on his crock while moaning, with his hands on her waist gridding her even more.

As if she could feel me, she looked up with an expression of shock, fear, shame, and lust. She still lowers her hands so they rest on his chest.

“He is my mate……” she started to speak in a low voice, if not for my alpha hearing I would have missed it.

“I… I…I did not mean for this to happen. I am so, so sorry Brian”

“Please forgive me.”

She starts crying as she gets off the guy with slow moves as he keeps his hands on her waist and puts his head on her neck to try calming his mate.

I could not move. My body was glued to the spot. My heart was ripped out of my chest, crushed, and broken into a million pieces.

How, how could this happen? What did I do that the Moon Goddess would do this to me? I did everything that a mate would have done and more.

Still shocked, I just turned around and left.

Wowing that I will never let that happen again, even though I knew my mate was out there somewhere. I was 24 years old and have not found her as yet. The Moon Goddess felt nothing for me as she took everything I loved and crushed it. Why would she then give me a mate?
