Chapter 34

Leo sat on the couch in his spacious living room, a glass of whiskey in his hand. He took a sip and sighed, feeling the burn ofthe alcohol in his throat. He couldn't believe Vivian had left him, gone back to her stupid husband.

He had been thinking about telling her how he felt for weeks, but he had never found the courage to do it. He had wantedto take things slow and build a solid foundation of friendship, but it seemed that now he had lost his chance.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Leo groaned and got up, walking to the door and opening it to see Vivian standing there, tears in her eyes.

"Leo, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left like that. I just needed some time to think," she said, her voice shaky.

Leo didn't know what to say. He wanted to hold her, to tell her how he felt, but he knew it wouldn't be appropriate. He stepped back and gestured for her to come in.

"Sit down. Would you like a drink?" he asked, pouring a glass of whiskey for her.
