The following day, Riele went over to Charlotte's house. She was unable to get any sleep because she didn't trust Utter with her best friend. What if he decides to hurt the baby?

She arrived at her place and pressed the doorbell several times but there was no sign of Charlotte. She was about to kick the door with her leg when the door opened only for Charlotte to see Riele in a karate style. She was shocked.

"What is going on?" She asked.

Riele cleared her throat, ignored her question and went inside the house. "What took you so long to open the door?"

"I was just coming out of the bathroom and you didn't tell me that you were coming around." Charlotte was watching her friend search the whole apartment. "What are you looking for?"

"Where is he?"

"Oh! Kim?" She asked.

Riele came to meet her and she could tell that something definitely happened last night. "Yes, Kim. The one you said came over last night drunk, the one..."

"Chill girlfriend, I know the Kim you are talking about."

Kim stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his collar for what must have been the tenth time. He couldn’t stop smiling. There was a softness in his eyes that had been missing for a long time. Today felt like the beginning of something... something he wasn’t sure he deserved but still hoped for.He picked up his watch and glanced at the time. He’d gone over the things he wanted to say in his head again and again. Every sentence, every apology, every memory—they all meant something. He wanted to say it right, for once. Maybe this would be the moment they started again. As he turned to leave the room, Jane stood at the door holding their baby. Her eyes were tired, and her voice was quiet.“Are you going somewhere?” she asked, watching him closely.Kim didn’t answer. He walked over to the crib, leaned in, and pressed a soft kiss on the baby’s forehead. The child stirred lightly, and Kim smiled again—but not at Jane. Without a word, he brushed past her and left the house.Jane stood still

The clock ticked quietly in the corner as the soft hum of the ceiling fan filled the room. Riele was curled on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her. She and Harry had been talking for nearly an hour—just about anything and everything. Movies they used to watch as kids, their mother's old singing voice that filled the kitchen on Saturdays, and the ridiculous things Harry did in high school that got him grounded for a month."You remember when I broke dad’s vinyl player?" Harry asked, laughing. "And blamed it on the cat?"Riele chuckled. “Yeah, and you wrote a whole apology letter from the cat’s perspective. That was ridiculous.”“It worked, didn’t it?” Harry beamed proudly. She smiled, but her eyes still carried that shadow that never left lately. Harry noticed. He didn’t say anything. He just wanted to keep her laughing, even if just for a while.Just then, there was a knock on the door.Harry stood up, casually heading toward it. “Probably Charlotte dropping off something,” he mumb

Kim stood outside his front door for a long moment, his hand resting on the handle. The cool evening breeze whispered against his skin, but the turmoil inside him burned hotter than ever. He inhaled, slowly, as if hoping the breath would clear his head. It didn’t.When he finally stepped inside, the soft glow of the hallway lights felt suffocating. The house was silent except for the gentle hum of the baby monitor placed on the side table. His feet dragged as he walked in, each step feeling heavier than the last.“Kim,” Jane’s voice rang out the moment she saw him. She hurried out from the living room, a soft smile playing on her lips. She looked tired, her hair in a loose bun and her eyes lined with exhaustion. Still, she tried to look presentable. “You’re back.”She moved toward him with open arms, the kind of welcome a wife would give her husband after a long day. Her steps were light, almost hopeful. But Kim didn’t slow down.He walked past her, his jaw clenched tightly. When she

Jay stepped into his apartment, loosening the buttons of his shirt as the quietness of home wrapped around him. It had been a long day. The confrontation with Kim still echoed in his thoughts, each word digging deeper into his heart than he liked to admit. But as he opened the door wider and caught a whiff of something warm and savory, his steps slowed. His brows furrowed in curiosity."Riele?" he called gently, his voice unsure.“In the kitchen,” her voice came back, soft, almost shy.Jay smiled. He walked in to find her setting two plates on the small dining table. It wasn’t anything elaborate—just rice and a simple sauce—but it was warm, and it was homemade. The steam rising from the plates looked like comfort, like something he didn’t know he needed until now.“You cooked?” he asked, a little stunned.Riele gave a half-smile and shrugged. “I found a few things in your pantry. Thought it would be nice to do something… ordinary. I didn’t want to sit around feeling sorry for myself.”

Jay stepped into the modeling wing of Kim’s company, the familiar hum of early morning preparations echoing in the background. Staff moved about briskly—setting up lights, checking lens settings, fixing hair and touch-ups. The air smelled faintly of coffee, foundation, and freshly printed call sheets. It should have felt like a normal day, but Jay knew it wasn’t.He took a slow breath, adjusting the strap of his bag as he stepped further inside. He’d been gone for a while, but now, everything looked just as he left it—except for what had changed in him.“Jay!” a voice called from across the room.He turned and gave a nod, flashing a small smile to one of the junior stylists. He didn’t want attention. He wasn’t here to make a grand re-entry. He was here to do his job and to settle something that had lingered for far too long. Then the room seemed to freeze when Kim stepped in from the far hallway. Dark tailored shirt, sleeves rolled back with precise neatness, watch glinting on his wri

The apartment was quiet, the gentle hum of the heater blending with the soft rhythm of rain still pattering against the window. Jay stood by the front door, fully dressed in his signature black jeans and a sleek fitted shirt, his coat hanging loosely over his shoulder. He looked back one last time, his eyes falling on Riele sleeping peacefully on the couch, curled beneath the thick blanket he had wrapped her in the night before. There was something tender about the way she slept. As if she was trying to hold on to a piece of peace that was so fleeting. Jay quietly moved toward the kitchen counter, picked up a pen, and scribbled a note on a notepad.“Gone to work. Don’t worry about anything. Please rest. - Jay”He placed the note by her phone and stood still for a moment, watching her. Her brows were slightly furrowed even in sleep. He wanted to reach out and smooth the worry away. But he didn’t. He turned and walked out, shutting the door gently behind him.Riele stirred slowly, her h
