Chapter 33

Nicholas ran into the emergency room with Daria in his arms, “she has a doctor here, call him” he said to the nurse that came to look at her.

Just in time he arrived, and Daria was taken away, Nicholas began to panic; he didn't know what to do.

As if it just couldn’t get worse Nicholas' phone rang and he received the call that his brother Adrian was having an episode.

Sprinting towards the psychiatric suite, Nicholas was overcomed with fear and worry.

 "What happened?" Screaming at the sight of Adrian receiving an electric shock, "what are you doing?" he asked again, grabbing the collar of the male nurse sending chills down the man's spine. 

"He was becoming violent so we had to suppress him" the nurse stuttered in response, running his eyes looking for help. 

“Sir you have to alloys do our job” the doctor signaled the security to take Nicholas out.

Nicholas reached out for his brother but the security was called and held him back.

Nicholas helplessly watched as Adrian was receiving electric shock in the brain as his screams echoed in the halls and for the first time in eight years tears ran down his eyes.

Nicholas broke down completely, his body unwilling to move as his eyes stayed on his brother, “Nicholas you have to come with me, you can’t watch this again not after the first time”Ludwig who had just arrived took him away from the scene.

Hours passed and nothing was heard about Adrian or Daria but everyone was in the hospital at this point and a lot of questions were being asked by Daria’s father, which no one was giving an answer to.

Finally both Daria and Adrian’s doctors came out at the same time, ”where is my brother?” Nicholas asked, his eyes red shot.

“He is fine, what happened to him had triggered something and we think there would be an improvement in him by the time he wakes up” the doctor informed Nicholas happily.

Nicholas heaved a sigh of relief, and turned to Daria’s doctor who was already speaking to Jacob and Adi.

“What happened to her” the doctor asked Jacob but he was clueless, “I don’t know you have to ask her husband” Jacob said.

“Sir what happened with your wife” the doctor asked Nicholas, “I just found her bleeding and unconscious when I came in to check on her”he replied.

“Whatever it was you have to find out, it happens again she would lose her memories completely again” the doctor warned.

“What do you mean by that, did she loose her memories before” Nicholas asked, this was the first he ever heard of it.

Giving Jacob a nod the doctor walked away “I have to attend to someone else” he said before walking away.

“What was he saying, loose her memories again, when did that happen” Nicholas brows knitted together as his jaws tightened.

He has been under a lot of stress today and he wasn’t processing it well.

“It’s nothing she just had amnesia when she was little“ Jacob replied.

“When?” Nicholas pressed further, but they were interrupted by the nurse that came to inform them that Adrian was awake.

Forgetting everything Nicholas went to the room Adrian was in but stopped in his tracks, as he held the door handle, bracing himself for whatever he was going to face as he entered.

“Nicholas, brother, how are you” Adrian asked tottslly different from the deranged Adrian that Nicholas is used to.

“Adrian are you okay?” Nicholas was stunned at the sudden change.

“Yes I am fine, I don’t know why I am here though” he said sitting up right.

“Did something happen?” He asked, “you don’t remember anything?” Nicholas asked, “Remember what?” “No I don’t remember,” he replied.

“I will go and get the doctor” Nicholas ran out to call the doctor.

After examining him the doctor turned to Nicholas “well we knew there will be improvements but I didn’t know it would be this drastic, whatever happened has triggered your brother's brain back” the doctor informed them with a smile.

“What is he talking about?” Adrian looked at the doctor and Nicholas, “when will he be discharged?” Nicholas asked excited by the Goodnews.

“This evening  after we observed him for a while” the doctor replied and left.

“Adrian you don’t know how happy I am that you are okay” Nicholas stayed by the bed.

“Can you please tell me what is going on?” Adrian asked, uncomfortable with being left in the dark.

With a loud sigh Nicholas began to tell him everything that happened including Daria’s return but he left out the fact that they were married, scared that he would fall back.

“Wait I have had a mental disorder for eight years, mom and dad are dead and my love left me again” Adrian said after a long silence.

“You had to suffer all of this alone and I couldn’t help you”he paused, “where is Daria now did I hurt her, while I was having an episode” he asked worriedly.

“She’s fine, she is in the recovery room, she only had a cut across the face” “but brother you don’t have to worry about her, her family is with her” nicholas assured him.

“No, I have to see her, she has a lot of answers to give me” Adrian insisted.

But Nicholas cut him off, “she’s unconscious brother, when she’s fully recovered and awake we wil go visit her”Nicholas explained.

Reluctantly Adrian relaxed, and quickly drifted off to sleep, taking the opportunity Nicholas ran off to see Daria.

Entering the room,Daria had already woken up and was with her father.

“How are you my love” Nicholas held her in his arms as he checked the wound across her face.

“What did the doctor say” he asked Jacob, “she will be discharged tomorrow and you can take her home” he replied.

“About that sir the house isn’t in a good shape, I request that you take her home first then I will come get her” Nicholas requested.

“I don’t want to endanger her life by her back there yet” he continued and Jacob gave in.

“Stay with her I will be back” Nicholas added and rushed out of the room.

Nicholas instructed that preparation be made to welcome his brother home
