Too late

"Come on guys let's go visit Rachael," Alex said much to the shock of his friends.

Staring at him wide eyes opened, they looked at him in shock "he wants to visit Rachel at home", where they dreamed.

"What's wrong with you guys".

"Nothing, nothing" they both replied.

"Then stop staring at me like that and let us proceed", he continued.

"But why do you want to visit her, you've never stepped into the boundary of that house since she moved in, or is it that our dear Alex has finally fallen in love" Alex's aunt interjected teasing him.

"Why can't I visit her she was by my side when I was in a coma even refusing to go to school it's just normal for me to repay her act of kindness" Alex pouted in reply.

"Well well somebody has finally fallen in love but is refusing to admit it" Elizabeth by the side also teased him, making Alex go in red in anger.

Alex turned to look at Eric who was by his side and had yet to say anything.

"Why staring at me like that I was not the one teasing you," Eric said with a straight face, restraining himself from laughing when he saw Alex staring at him like he was the preparator of everything.

"Fine, fine let's just go over, I just want to thank her for all her efforts" Alex replied not wanting to admit that he had fallen for her.

"Since you don't want to admit it fine but don't regret your actions when it's too late," his aunt said.

"Hmph! I would never regret my actions" Alex snorted unhappily before storming out of the house angrily.

"Big head wait for us" Elizabeth shouted as she and Eric ran outside to meet him.

Getting to Rachel's house which was next to theirs, he stared at the door doorbell nervously hesitating, maybe he should press it or not, finally with a shaky hand he pressed the doorbell.

"Why is your hand shaking? or are you nervous," Elizabeth asked curiously when she saw that Alex's hand was shaking and he was somewhat nervous.

"None of your business" he replied as he pressed the doorbell once again, seeing that nobody answered.

Rachael who was still sleeping grumbled when she heard the doorbell ring, muttering to herself, "who could come visit me at this time of the day" she decided to ignore it as she closed her eyes again. but it rang again when she closed her eyes.

"Who exactly is this person", she muttered to herself again, getting out of the bed with her pajamas and messy hair, she didn't even bother to change out of it before going towards the door is contained a bit of drowsiness.

Alex outside pressed the doorbell again be patient Eric snapped when he saw Alex getting impatient. Rachel grumbled when she had the doorbell ringing again, surely this person was impatient, "who could it be" she mused to herself.

Getting to the door she swung it open only to see the impatient face of Alex and his friends, she immediately froze in shock, never would she have imagined that Alex would come to visit her, that was even right after he was discharged she then looked at Eric and Elizabeth behind him before something struck her into realization.

What the hell, she was in her pajamas and her hair was messy, she silently breathed some curses before dashing back into her room, She shouted "you guys can enter",

before she completely disappeared.

Looking at her shocked face Alex felt good as he felt he had accomplished something good.

"Let's go in," Eric said walking into the parlor with Alex and Elizabeth.

Upstairs, Rachel had an expression of both bewilderment and shock on her face, never had she imagined that the cold and indifferent Alex would take the initiative to visit her, although she liked him she was still embarrassed to meet him in her pajamas and also her hair was messy, entering the bathroom she washed up brushing and arranging her messy hair, she quickly took some clothes as she wore it, running back downstairs.

Alex and the others were talking while waiting for Rachel who was still changing, they had footsteps of someone coming downstairs, abruptly they looked up to see Rachel who had changed.

"So you just ran away to change into this" Elizabeth teased when she saw her coming back downstairs, initially she had thought that she had run back upstairs for more important matters, but it turned out that she was shy and embarrassed about them seeing her in her pajamas and also her hair was messy.

On hearing Elizabeth's question her cheeks turned red in embarrassment as she slowly sat down beside them.

"Why do you always like to tease others," Alex asked as he turned to Elizabeth and asked her. "Well that's none of your business," she replied.

Turning back to Rachel, "thanks for all what you've done for me during the time I was in a coma", Alex said to her sincerely.

"That's just normal for me" Rachel replied.

"It's not normal, these two assholes here didn't tell me I was in a coma for a month and two weeks, I only realized this after I was told when I was about to eat" Alex interjected her.

Rachel didn't know how to reply to Alex about what he just said, so she nodded in agreement.

"And besides you didn't even leave my side, all the time I was in the hospital, so I'm thanking you right from the bottom of my heart," Alex continued when he saw Rachael nodding her head in agreement.

Eric and Elizabeth had an expression of both shock and confusion on their faces, it seems like he was finally back to his old self, they looked at Alex as a smile radiated from their faces, finally, the Old Alex was coming back.

After Alex had finished thanking Rachel, the four of them started a random conversation, they played all sorts of games and had all sorts of conversations, finally, in the night they departed from her house as they all went home.

Rachel had a warm smile on her face as she stared at the silhouette of Alex as he was departing, he had finally been willing to talk and laugh with her, in the past, even if his friends were to say something funny when she was present, Alex would never laugh nor smile, he was always cold and indifferent when she was present.

But another thought soon came into her mind, how was she able to move the cold and indifferent Alex? was it just the act of simply staying by his side when he was in a coma for over a month and two weeks? or what had she done? She could not find the perfect answer. sighing sadly she went back to her room as she prepared to sleep.

Alex went back home only to see his aunt with a huge smile plastered on her face, he was puzzled "aunt why are you smiling" he asked.

"Why am I smiling? it looks like someone has finally fallen in Love" she mocked.

"Aunt how many times will I say it, I don't like her, I just went to thank her for what she has done to help me while I was in a coma" Alex replied not wanting to admit the fact that he had already fallen for Rachel.

"Ok I won't argue with you any further since you don't want to admit it", his aunt replied.

Alex barged angrily into his room, he was thinking about how he had fallen for her, he had successfully created some lines of defense after he noticed he had fallen for her, but after this incident, his last line of defense had crumbled, he had been moved by her actions towards him.

Although Alex had always maintained his cold and indifferent attitude, deep down he was a kind person, there was no way he wouldn't be moved by her actions, coupled with the fact that he loved her secretly, after this incident, she had completely crippled his last line of defense, leaving him unable to fight back any longer, just that he wouldn't admit his feelings to her yet, he needed to observe her for some time.

The next day Alex went to pick up Rachael with his friends in his other car, although his car had been damaged by the accident, there were still many other cars in the garage for his usage.

The high school journey had finally come to an end, the graduating students were just waiting for their graduation day, the day they would collect their results, this would also decide the university they would apply to, Alex too had planned to confess to Rachel on this very day.

During the last few months since Alex had recovered from the accident, he had finally returned to his old self, he wasn't cold and indifferent to anyone again, allowing his other friends to come and talk to him freely, not giving any of them a cold shoulder.

All this time his relationship with Rachel and also improved, now he knew many things about her, he had even met her mother twice when she had come to visit her daughter.

Alex's aunt was finally relieved when she saw that he was back to his old self, she was afraid earlier of his cold and indifferent attitude towards others, but now it seems like her worry was for nothing.

Eric and Elizabeth had long known that Alex loved Rachel and always wanted him to tell her how he felt, he would always tell them that he knew the best time to time for him to divulge the feelings in his heart.

Soon the day of the graduation came, and all the parents and students that were graduating were very happy, especially those with good grades, Alex and his friends were among this group of people, and they rejoiced happily.

"Where is Rachel" Alex finally asked his friends, he noticed that he could not see her anywhere.

They started to search for her but it seems like she was not at the school that day, quickly they rushed to her house only to meet it locked, as they were thinking about where she might have gone, the gardener of the house approached Alex as he said "the young miss of the house wants me to hand this over to you" he said handing a letter to Alex. Alex was dumbfounded "a letter" he muttered.

Was he too late? what had happened to her that made her leave without informing him of her departure? he couldn't even think clearly as he gazed at the letter in his hands warily.

What was in the content of the letter was unknown to him although he hoped that it was not bad news.
