Without taking my eyes off him, I squint slightly and flash a small smile, which makes Kalet cross his arms and glare at me.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Kalet grumbles after a few seconds.

“I want you to keep an eye out for when the flowers for Giselle arrive and go upstairs to see her reaction,” I order, lacing my fingers together and resting my chin on them, “and obviously, you'll have to come back and report to me.”

“Why do I have to go?” he complains.

“Because I’m your boss, and I’m ordering you to.”

“You could send the witch.”

“She was a big help, so now it’s your turn.”

“But I already helped you! Wasn’t I the one who went to find her? I bet it never even crossed your mind to ask her instead.”

“You’re right about that, but now I need your help. I’ll double your salary this month if every time I send my wife a gift, you go down and watch her reaction and then come back to tell me everything in detail.”

“Triple,” he counters.

“Double. You’re not doing much—just going up and down,

  • Love for revenge   Life without you doesn´t make sense

**This chapter contains graphic content that may be disturbing to some readers. Discretion is advised. With a gasp, I watch as Oliver’s parents and their son stare each other down defiantly. It isn’t until the judge slams his gavel twice that they all snap back to reality and are forced to take their seats.“How did your parents manage to forge the document?” Matteo asks Oliver once the room falls silent.“We had help from the Lemaire family’s attorney,” Oliver answers truthfully, prompting my hand to curl into a tight fist. The very man who once claimed to be a friend of my parents had also played a part in destroying everything. “After we got Giselle’s signature, he made sure someone forged it to present the transfer as an original document.“He did it in exchange for a share of the lab’s equity. My parents had no choice but to agree—otherwise, their plan would’ve failed. The lawyer had plenty of connections at court, so manipulating the system in our favor wasn’t difficult.”“Back

  • Love for revenge   Hearing

Day of the hearingWith a tightness in my chest, I force one foot in front of the other, my legs barely cooperating. I have to stop for a moment to catch my breath, but Matteo offers his arm just in time. I grip it tightly and steady myself as we step into the courtroom, where the Lefebvres are already waiting. For a fleeting moment, Oliver’s eyes meet mine. He gives me a subtle nod, a silent message that today—finally—everything will come to light. That he’s ready to speak the truth he’s kept buried for years.I take my seat, ignoring Bastian and Chantal Lefebvre. My hand drifts to my belly in a soothing gesture as I wait for the judge to enter. A low murmur fills the room until, moments later, it’s replaced by a heavy silence. We all rise as the judge begins with his usual preamble.“This is the opening of case 1013, regarding a transfer of ownership and the murder of Camillo and Alice Lemaire…”After a brief explanation, the attorneys begin calling their witnesses. My stomach knots

  • Love for revenge   Following right in his footsteps

Nathan When I catch the determined look in Giselle’s tearful eyes, I realize that no matter what I do, she’ll never be able to forgive me—let alone trust me again. The weight of that thought crushes me, and I stay on my knees, frozen on the floor, watching her walk away.“Is it true what she said?” my nanny asks.“I never lied to her. I was trying to get information about her lab…”“I’m not talking about that,” she cuts me off coldly. “I mean the threat. What you said to her—was it true?” she presses, and I turn my face away, unable to admit that yes, I was low enough to threaten her over something so sensitive.“It’s true,” I confess, her gaze forcing the truth out of me.“How could you do something so despicable?” she scolds, shaking her head. “I know I should know my place, and maybe I’m overstepping, but I’ve always seen you as one of my own grandchildren—not just the little boy I used to look after. And right now, Nathan, I’m deeply disappointed in you. I know your mother would

  • Love for revenge   I regret ever meeting you!

Giselle I open my eyes, feeling disoriented, trying to remember what happened yesterday. But the moment I realize I’m in Nathan’s room, my stomach twists, and I sit up abruptly.“You shouldn’t move so fast, you could get dizzy and—”“What am I doing here?” I snap coldly, standing up, slipping on my ballet flats, and without waiting for an answer, I start looking for my purse. I spot it on one of the dressers.“You fainted yesterday, so I brought you our home. I couldn’t just leave you on the street.”“The street would’ve been better than being with you,” I shoot back, grabbing my bag and yanking the door open. “And just so we’re clear, this was never my home.”“Please, Giselle, don’t run. You could fall,” Nathan calls out, following me. “And yes, this was—and still is—your home.”His nerve makes me laugh, bitterly. And though I try to stop it, my hormones betray me, and tears start falling.“Oh, now you care about what happens to me?” I ask with biting sarcasm, dodging his arm and pr

  • Love for revenge   They´re mine!

As I walk out of the courthouse, I place a hand over my small belly where my babies seem to feel every wave of my emotions. A sharp pain in my lower abdomen makes me gasp, and through my tears, I glance back one last time at the place where Oliver will finally pay for all his crimes. I’m certain of it—this time, justice will be served.“Are you okay?” a voice pulls me from my thoughts.“What are you doing here?” I snap, stepping away from Nathan as he tries to wrap an arm around my shoulders. “Don’t touch me. I warned you last time—stay away from me. I can’t stand any kind of contact with you. Not even the smallest gesture.”“Why are you like this? Did Oliver do something to you?” he asks, ignoring everything I just said.“T-That’s none of your business. Whatever happened between Oliver and me is our problem. Just leave me alone,” I stammer, voice shaky as I try to keep walking. But my body is too worn down from the past few weeks, and dizziness overwhelms me, leaving me too weak to r

  • Love for revenge   Love doesn´t destroy

“We should go,” Matteo says gently, resting a hand on my shoulder and pulling me back to reality. “You heard the judge—the hearing’s been postponed.”“Y-yeah,” I manage, my whole body trembling, frozen in place by fear.“I’ll help you,” Nathan offers, moving closer and extending his arm for me to take.“Let’s go, Matteo,” I mutter, brushing past my ex-husband without sparing him a glance. Then, pausing just long enough to speak without looking him in the eye, I add, “And by the way, Nathan—I don’t want to see you here again. It’s hypocritical of you to show up now when you never had any intention of helping me. Your presence just… disgusts me,” I hiss coldly.Outside the courthouse, I cling tightly to Matteo’s arm as tears stream down my face. My hand instinctively strokes my swollen belly.“For a moment… I really thought Oliver was going to hurt us,” I sob, unable to hold it in any longer.“It’s over now,” Matteo murmurs, rubbing my back soothingly as he helps me into the car. He wai
