THIRD PERSON POV

Kyla found herself in a forest, running.

She was twelve years old again.

Her feet pounded against the wet earth, the trees around her blurring as she pushed forward, faster and faster, her small chest heaving with every terrified breath.

Somewhere behind her, a soft voice echoed in a high-pitched, sing-song, almost gentle, but haunting manner.

“Kylaaa…”

She sobbed as she ran, branches whipping past her face, tearing at her arms. Her bare feet stung with every step, but she didn’t stop. She couldn’t. The voice was getting closer.

“Kylaaa…”

Her head snapped back, trying to see who or what was chasing her, but there was nothing there.

Nothing but shadows.

Then her foot caught on a twisted root.

She screamed as she fell, tumbling down hard. Her back slammed into something solid.

She thought it was a tree, until she looked up.

A tall man stood over her, massive and unmoving. A dark veil covered his face, hiding his features entirely. He didn’t speak. Just raised one gloved

JEFFREY I stood in Kyla’s apartment for the first time without her in it, and it felt wrong. It was still and quiet. She was the kind of person who noticed if any object was slightly out of place. Her space reflected that, every corner was neat, clean and intentional. But tonight, it felt like walking through a memory, her absence felt like a warning. The words echoed in my head again, that cold voice from the call- “We have Kyla.”I walked slowly through the lounge, my eyes scanning the room for anything. Anything at all that might hint at where she was or why someone would take her. What the hell did they want from her?I kept thinking about Ronald, too. His distance, his silence, the way he looked at me like I’d become part of the problem. Like I had any answers to what the fuck was going on.I moved toward the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of wine from the counter. I didn’t even hesitate. I was starting to hate how easily I reached for alcohol these days, but without it, I didn’t

RONALDI sat across from Collins in what could only be described as a private luxury bar with colourful lighting designs, expensive furniture, and a kind of chillness that felt intentional as part of the bar's theme. I glanced around and realized something else, every single waiter was male. Ribbed and attractive. Their uniforms weren’t exactly subtle, either. They wore tight shirts, and well-fitted trousers. The guests at the surrounding tables were mostly men, too. Some of them clearly on dates. One guy had his fingers tangled in another man’s, whispering something that made them both laugh.I looked back at Collins. He was smirking.Of course he was.I rolled my eyes. “Why did you choose this place?”He lifted his glass, swirling whatever was in it like this was a celebration. “Can’t you see it?” he said. “You finally got your eyes open and reached out to me. Taking you here felt… symbolic.”I pinched the bridge of my nose. “This doesn’t change anything,” I muttered. “I just need

JEFFREYI sat at the lounge, watching the clock tick slowly toward eleven. The TV was on, but muted. My laptop sat untouched on the table in front of me, its screen dimmed because I had not touched it in a while. I had tried calling Ronald at least seven times now, both on his personal line and on the office landline. But no response. He had told me he'd be home soon. That was around seven-thirty.I had left the office a bit earlier and he’d stayed back to handle some contract reviews, or so he said. I didn’t think much of it. He had sent me a text that said, “I’ll be home in a bit. Order dinner if you’re hungry.”That was hours ago.Now my chest was tight with something between irritation and worry.I stood up again, pacing back and forth in the living room. My bare feet padded quietly against the floor as I turned toward the window for what felt like the hundredth time. My phone was still clutched in my hand, and every time I glanced at it, there wasn't a single notification.Just

RONALD The office was growing quieter by the minute, the kind of silence that settled over the building when the sun started setting and the staff were gradually exiting the building.I sat behind my desk, my fingers tapped gently on the handle of my chair, as I fixed my eyes on the city skyline just beyond the glass. My jacket was already off, and my sleeves rolled up. Still, I felt caged in.A soft knock broke through the silence.“Come in,” I said without looking. My secretary stepped in, her voice professional as usual. “Sir, is there anything else you need before I head out?”I leaned back slightly and turned to her. “The reports from this morning’s meetings?”“I uploaded them to your drive about ten minutes ago. All labeled,” she said.I gave a short nod. “Good. And the lawyer?”“Yes, sir. He confirmed. You’re meeting with him tomorrow afternoon. One o’clock.”I exhaled through my nose. “Alright. You may take your leave for the day.”She lingered just a second longer, like she

THIRD PERSON POV Kyla sat cross-legged on her worktable, a focused calm settled over her features as her fingers moved with delicate precision, unscrewing the tiny shell of the GSM bug she had found earlier. One by one, she separated its components, the mic, transmitter, battery, each piece treated with care as though it were a patient on her operating table. The room was quiet, apart from the voice playing softly through her earpiece. Scar’s recorded instructions. She had listened to them over five times now, and still, she hit play again."You’ll be there by 11 p.m. sharp. Do not be late."Kyla reached for her soldering pen and dislodged another chip, her mind already rehearsing the night’s choreography."From 11:30 to 11:35, the hacker will breach the system remotely. All cameras, motion sensors, and alarms will be disabled. You’ll have exactly five minutes to get in, locate the stamp, and get out."She slid another panel away from the bug’s tiny frame. Scar’s voice was cold, dire
