~Mia’s POV~

I couldn't fathom what was happening. How did Robert find me? How could he possibly fight, handle firearms, run like an athlete, and carry me like a soldier rescuing his comrade—only to surrender himself to the police? It was all a mystery.

As we stood, waiting to be arrested, I sensed his fear. Just then, headlights flashed through the darkness, racing toward us. A thick cloud of tear gas filled the air, making everything blur into chaos.

It was toxic. I couldn’t breathe. My chest tightened as I slowly began to lose consciousness. Gunshots rang out, but it was impossible to see who was shooting or being shot at.

I felt Robert’s arms gently lifting me into a black van, and within seconds, we were on the move.

During the ride, an excruciating pain surged through me. I cried out. I knew I’d been shot. A bullet had pierced my arm.

“Hurry, bring the first aid box!” Robert’s voice shook with worry.

I groaned, gritting my teeth in pain. They shoved a cloth between my teeth, and

~Victoria’s POV~I screamed and hurled the mug Robert drank from against the wall as he stormed out of the house. Why must Robert be so perceptive? Why must he always see through me? Why did he have to discover I was the one behind Mia’s disappearance? Why him?I rushed up the stairs and locked myself in my room. Guilt had consumed me for the past twenty-four hours. The day I returned to the hideout, I saw the masked men barging in. In panic, I had quickly alerted the guards before fleeing. That day, I planned to film a video—anonymously leak it online—showing Mia’s suffering, using it to demand Elizabeth’s appearance publicly. But Robert had interfered and ruined everything.I grabbed the wine glass from my bed and smashed it against the wall, its shattering sound releasing the anger I held in. All I needed was pressure—just enough to force Elizabeth out of the shadows. For years I’d searched for her—not just for answers about the missing infant, the golden necklace, and the file, bu

  • Love me Again    Chapter Twenty three: Confrontation

~Robert’s POV~As I held Mia close, I could feel the weight of her pain. Life had not been kind to her. Surviving those years without a mother and still managing to stay strong through the storms—how did she do it? I’d never heard her cry so closely before, but now, every sob pierced my soul. Her grief was raw. Her heart, heavy. And I knew then—this girl carried more than her share of sorrow. She eventually drifted off to sleep against my shoulder while I gently patted her back. But as the truth unraveled, it hit me hard: she’s Elizabeth’s daughter. The golden bracelet she had in her possession—the golden bracelet—was the last missing piece. The one link that could destroy Richard and finally expose the filth behind his carefully polished name.Once I ensured she was stable and instructed the nurses to provide anything she might need, I stepped out. There was only one person who could give me answers now—Victoria.“What a pleasant surprise,” Victoria said coolly as she descended from

~Robert's POV~“Mick, I really need your help!” I said as we sat in the lounge. I knew I needed men if I was going to go against the Black Wolves.“Man, you know I’ve always had your back and supported you,” he replied. “But I don’t want those thugs in my territory.”“Please… this is about the life of someone I love.”Mick laughed at my words.“Are you a lover boy now? The Robert I know was never weakened by love.”“I care about Mia, honestly. Even if she doesn’t love me yet, I can’t bear the thought of any harm coming to her.”“Gosh, man. You’ve changed,” Mick said with a shake of his head. “But I’ll always support you, no matter what. We go way back.”“Thanks, man. I knew I could count on you.”“So when are we moving?”“Tonight.”As we made preparations to rescue Mia, I couldn’t help but think back to everything that had led me here. Before I met Mick, I got into a street fight and was captured by Santiago’s men. Those days were terrifying—I was beaten daily and forced to do hard la

~Victoria’s POV~“The mysterious disappearance of Mia Ross Lud has left the public disturbed… Curiosity continues to grow over her sudden vanishing during…”I stood frozen in front of the television, watching the news anchor speak with exaggerated concern. “Why must all these reporters add emotions to stuff like this?” I muttered, glaring at the screen as if the woman on it was someone I personally disliked.Patrick, my boyfriend—the senator’s son I’d been dating for over a year—leaned against the wall behind me. “What do you plan to do with Mia?” he asked, his tone edged with worry.I turned to face him slowly.“Why did you even do it?” he pressed. “She’s your brother’s wife, for crying out loud.”“Because I want that wench to show her face,” I snapped, biting my finger in frustration as I kept my eyes glued to the television. “I want to see her reaction.”Patrick sighed. “What if Robert finds out you’re behind her disappearance?”I scoffed. “He’s not acting. He knew the truth about

James Lud’s POV “What’s the information so far? Have you found any leads?” I demanded, my voice sharp and cutting.“No, sir. We’re still looking,” Reaper answered, head bowed in submission. None of them dared to meet my eyes. The response made my blood boil. Without hesitation, I grabbed the mug in front of me and hurled it at the wall. The loud crash of ceramic echoed through the room like thunder, and my men flinched, visibly shaken. They knew what was coming.“How dare you bring such useless reports to me?” I roared. “Richard’s wife has been hiding for years, and the moment she appears live on stage, you fools let her slip through your fingers?”I stormed over to Reaper and slammed my walking stick across his back. Pain tore through my leg as I moved, but the anger masked it. Ever since the accident, this damned stick had become part of me—but I could still wield it with force.“I’m so sorry, Master. We’ll do our best next time,” Reaper gasped, bowing lower, trembling. He knew he
