Kayla's POV

I was unable to sleep till the sun rays were back on again, piercing into the room through the window like it was the brightest day ever.

I watched them as they lay on each other's bare chests and loosely covered with the blanket I had abandoned for them.

Then Lyra suddenly jolted up with loud gasps escaping her lungs while covering her mouth with her palm.

Liam winced in pain maybe from a headache or the little work he did last night. His face scrunched with his eyelids slowly coming off.

"What happened.." he murmured, his voice barely audible.

With his eyes scanning the room, he stopped on my disappointed saddened gaze.

His eyes opened wide, then he jolted up immediately, I could see a flicker of guilt flash through his eyes but he swiftly diverted his gaze from my eyes and palmed his head.

"I'm.. I'm.. Kayla.. I'm sorry Kayla.. nothing happened between us, I promise." Lyra mumbled.

My stare was glued on them as Lyra rambled on, trying to find an excuse even though she loved that I was in pain.

I heard everything she divulged to Liam last night, and Liam, he only stood up and staggered away from the room, still palming his forehead.

No attempt to explain himself even if I wouldn't take it, no remorse, he left as though what he did was nothing that concerns me.

I bite on her lower lip, tears brimming in her eyes. And there, on that bed, I confirmed it, I had gotten my final reason to leave.

I made up my mind once again. Liam would never have any regard for me and in fact, he hated my existence.

I was only an obstacle in his life and I must leave as soon as possible.

Slowly, I stood up from the bed, my eyes red and face puffy from crying throughout the night.

"I'm so sorry Kayla.." Lyra muttered once again.

"I'm truly sorry, Liam and I were only drunk... I didn't mean for us to lie down like this and made you misunderstand everything. Nothing happened I promise, you don't need to be sad about this.." She pushed on, but I wasn't ready for her facade, not anymore.

I saw them clearly, they knew what they were doing, it wasn't their first time making out in my home like this, but this time they chose my room.

I endured it all for Grandma Helen. Even though Grandma Helen didn't know what was actually happening in my marriage, she had always assured me that one day Liam would fall head over heels for me. Making me hope on and still be happy.

One that made me chuckled so much and filled my heart with joy was when she'd tell me that Liam would so fall in love with me that I could even carry him around like my handbag. Grandma Helen had guaranteed me, but today, this was what Liam was doing.

Cheating to my face! Making out with his mistress in the same room as me.

I choked on my tears as I found my way to the bathroom.

I needed to calm down, I must calm myself else I get so stressed I could lose my baby.

With that, I turned on the warm shower for myself, ready to calm my nerves.

A few minutes later. I was done having my bath, I came out in my white robe and white towels on my head to dry my hair. Lyra was still in my room.

As I came out, Lyra's eyes lingered on my body.

"Kayla, you're adding weight, I thought you said you were sick? And look, when did you start having big boobs?" Lyra's questions hung in the air.

The fact that she was biting me and also acting as though she was my friend, was something to be studied.

"What did the doctor say was wrong with you?" She added, but I was not going to say a word to her, I wasn't ready to indulge in her fake care.

But my anxiety heightened, cutting deeply into my chest. What if she finds out I'm pregnant?

This pregnancy was something Liam must never know about.

I had realized he would never change and would continue to torment me as long as I’m in this marriage.

I'd leave with my baby, but the thought of being a single mother and raising a child alone at such a young age, made me think so much about my life, it gnawed at my heart, my hand unconsciously moved up to my chest, it was in pain.

"Kayla? Why are you keeping quiet? I'm talking to you." Lyra pouted.

Just then, Liam came back into the room.

"Lyra, come with me.." He spoke to her, alone, and disappeared from my sight.

Lyra staggered out of the room, dragging the heavy blanket on her body, it was obvious she was naked under it.

I watched as she skimmed along with Liam, my husband, of course to the other room.

When I was done drying my hair, along with the tears that never stopped streaming, I stood up to my wardrobe.

Bringing out my box, I began taking the basic things I might need as I move on to the next phase life had for me.

I was hoping that Lyra would be gone before I give Liam the divorce papers, out of last respect for Grandma Helen, but it seemed like Lyra would never give them a space, even to divorce. If so, then they could as well sink it in together.

A few minutes later, I was done packing the few things she needed and had dressed up.

My hair was completely dry now and neatly tied into a ponytail.

I was ready to leave, to give Liam the space he needed and get out of his life forever, just as he yearned for.

However, when I got to the guest room where they should be, they were gone. Liam had left.

I was not ready to spend any more minutes

in this house to wait for him or whatsoever.

As I contemplated on either dropping it here for him or proceeding to his office to call it all off there, my phone screen shone bright and it started ringing.

  • Love me again, Dear Ex wife!   Chapter 163

Chapter One Hundred and Sixty-TwoKayla’s POVThe days passed quietly after I left the hospital. Too quietly. The city outside was loud and alive, full of the kind of chaos that used to comfort me. But inside Liam’s house, the silence was thick, almost deliberate. It followed me through every hallway and every shadow. Even when the windows were open and sunlight poured in, the air still felt heavy.Liam had changed. He was careful now, almost painfully so. He no longer barked orders or spoke in the sharp, clipped tone that once made me shrink inside myself. Instead, his voice was softer, gentler, and his eyes—those deep, blue eyes that had once been cold as winter—now carried something fragile. Guilt, maybe. Or longing. He didn’t try to touch me. He kept his distance, as if afraid that one wrong move would break the thin thread of peace holding us together.Every morning, he made me tea and left it by my bedside before going to work. He didn’t say anything about the nightmares that wo

  • Love me again, Dear Ex wife!   Chapter 162

Kayla’s POVLight consumed everything. It wasn’t the warm kind of light that promised peace; it was fierce, burning through me until every nerve screamed. For a moment, I thought it would kill me, strip me down to nothing but ash and memory. Then, just as suddenly, the brightness dimmed.I opened my eyes to silence. The world around me was unrecognizable. The metal walls, the alarms, the cold corridors—all gone. In their place was a vast white space that stretched endlessly in every direction. No shadows. No sound. Just emptiness.I pressed my palm to the ground, but there was no texture. It was like touching light itself. I didn’t know if I was standing on something solid or floating in the middle of nowhere.“Hello?” My voice echoed softly, like it didn’t belong to me. “Is anyone here?”Nothing. Only the faint hum of air that didn’t feel real. Then I heard it—a single, steady heartbeat. My heartbeat. But it was faint, uneven, like something inside me was struggling to keep going.I

  • Love me again, Dear Ex wife!   Chapter 161

Kayla’s POVThe world was chaos. Sirens screamed, red lights flashed like indignant beating hearts, and smoke was whirling away broken glass and spurting wires. I leaned my back against the wall with the railing of metal in my hands to keep myself erect as the earth shook under my feet.Damien’s hand grabbed mine, his grip firm and warm, dragging me behind a row of overturned crates. “Stay down,” he said, his voice low and commanding.I could barely breathe. My pulse was pounding too loudly in my ears, drowning out the distant shouting. My double’s laughter cut through everything else, soft and echoing, curling around me like a poison. When I looked up, she was standing in the middle of the corridor, framed by the flickering lights. She looked exactly like me but sharper, colder, her beauty tinged with something inhuman. The curve of her lips held the cruel satisfaction of a hunter watching its prey.“You can run all you want, Kayla,” she said, her voice smooth and mocking. “But you w

  • Love me again, Dear Ex wife!   Chapter 160

Kayla’s POVThe blackness was closing in on me as an organism. I was sitting on the cold floor and drew my knees close to my chest and the pounding of my heart was so fierce that it was beating in my ears. The silence was intolerable, with the dull buzz of electricity and the plop, plop, plop of the drip of water somewhere in the background of the walls.I counted my breaths to keep myself from unraveling. One. Two. Three. When the lights finally flickered back on, they were dimmer than before, their pale glow painting long shadows across the sterile room. My eyes darted to the mirror on the far wall—the one where my reflection had smiled at me before. But now, it was empty. Just glass and silence.I forced myself to stand, even though my legs trembled under my weight. The machines that had once monitored me were now off, their screens black. On the table beside them was a small silver tray that hadn’t been there before. And on it, a folded note.My fingers shook as I picked it up. Th

  • Love me again, Dear Ex wife!   Chapter 159

Kayla’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, the world felt… wrong. The ceiling above me was too white, too perfect, the sterile glow of fluorescent lights humming quietly. The smell of antiseptic filled my nose, and for a moment, I thought I was in a hospital. But when I turned my head, my breath caught. This wasn’t any hospital I remembered. The walls were windowless. The only exit was a single steel door, locked from the outside. Machines hummed softly beside my bed, their wires tangled around my wrists like restraints.Panic surged through me. I sat up sharply, ripping the cords free, my chest heaving. My voice came out hoarse. “Damien?”No answer.I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, my bare feet touching the cold floor. The faint reflection on the polished surface sent a chill up my spine—it was me, but not me. My reflection lagged, blinking half a second slower than I did.My throat tightened. “No,” I whispered. “You’re not real. You can’t be.”A soft click broke the silence. The st

  • Love me again, Dear Ex wife!   Chapter 158

Kayla’s POVI woke to the sound of rain tapping against the window, each drop slow and deliberate, like the world was holding its breath with me. My body felt heavy, as though the night itself had seeped into my bones. I didn’t remember falling asleep. The last thing I recalled was Damien’s voice whispering my name, his hand tangled with mine as the storm gathered around us.But now the room was cold and empty. The faint flicker of candlelight illuminated the cracked walls. The air smelled of damp earth and smoke. We had taken shelter in an abandoned cabin deep in the woods after the car failed us. Damien had worked through the night to board the broken windows, to make me feel safe. But safety was an illusion, one that cracked a little more each time she whispered in my ear.“You can’t keep pretending I’m not real.”I pressed my palms to my ears, but the voice came from inside me. No sound escaped my lips, but she laughed anyway, her amusement echoing through my mind. The door creake
