I took a deep breath, trying to push down the bitterness inside me. I opened the text message and carefully composed a reply, editing it numerous times. In the end, I sent a simple message:

"Zac, let's get a divorce."

Zac returned home in the evening. Without wasting any time, I asked him right away, "Did you see the message?"

Zac instinctively reached for his phone, as if he suddenly remembered something crucial. His tone turned serious.

"Is this another one of your tricks?

"Samantha, stop playing games. You're even using divorce as a threat now."

"I'm not playing games."

"Samantha, are you serious?"

"The divorce papers will be sent to you. Remember to sign them."

Zac's face grew stern as he refused, "Stop it, Samantha. I don't agree to a divorce."
