Chapter 5

Author: Bright Lights
I sent the link and waited. It was radio silent on Tia’s end.

Instead, a message from her popped up on my work account.

“Levi, do you have a metal allergy?

“Don’t take this the wrong way. The company is putting together anniversary gifts for everyone, and the idea was to give out gold bracelets. Before we finalize anything, we’re checking whether anyone has any metal allergies or sensitivities.”

How sweet of her.

If only her thoughtfulness was reserved for me.

Overwhelmed by my bitter envy, I responded to her text with utmost respect, “Ms. Hart, I don’t have any allergies.”

Tia went quiet thereafter. I didn’t get any response from my alt account either.

I went to bed in absolute tatters.

When I went to work the next day, Tia suddenly went completely out of character. She dragged me all over the city for a day of sightseeing and asked, “Was it fun?”

I nodded.

Tia chuckled. “I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. It’s not every day you get a view like this.”

I looked at her soft facial features as a wave of heartache swallowed me as a whole.

Was Tia scouting locations for future dates with her crush?

Why was she using me as a stand-in?

The worst part was that she made me catch all types of feelings I wasn’t supposed to have. I was reluctant to let Tia be with the one she loved.

Nevertheless, I knew that I could no longer be near Tia the moment I told her how I felt.

Never mind. Nothing mattered more than staying by her side.

I kept myself together. “Ms. Hart, it’s the end of the workday. If there’s nothing else, I should get going.”

Before Tia could respond, I practically fled the scene.

I failed to notice that the look Tia gave me from behind was one of determination.

Here I thought I would have trouble sleeping at night, but I crashed out.

I woke up and felt something was off. A cold, metallic weight pulled against my bare ankle.

My gaze dropped, and my eyes widened in surprise.

My recommended chain was now clamped around my leg. It was a perfect fit, made to my dimensions.

I snapped my head up and checked out my surroundings.

The furniture was familiar, so was the décor.

I had seen this layout through my spy cameras before. This was Tia’s manor.

My brain was fried. Stunned was an understatement.

Hang on. Was the script even right?

Why was I the one being held captive?

Just as I was reeling from the shock, my alt account, silent for the entire night, received a notification. It was a text message from Tia.

“Your set of chains came in handy, but sorry, I can’t date you.”

I was dumbfounded to say the least.

My mind quickly caught up with the situation.

So I was the one Tia had been pinning over.

Little did Tia know, I had been blowing up her DMs.

The door slid open.

Tia walked in against the light, her eyes locking onto me.

“Do the shackles fit? I had them customized to fit your ankle measurement, babe.”

I could barely stop myself from grinning widely. However, I quickly picked the perfect character for the narrative.

Hiding the delight in my eyes, I played a terrified victim, my voice shaking.

“Ms. Hart… W-What are you doing?”

Throughout her life, Tia had pushed herself to achieve perfection. However, all her efforts were met with only higher expectations and never-ending denial. Her mother was mostly absent, while her father was demanding and distant. Years of emotional deprivation and constant suppression gradually bred a dark, fixated obsession within her. Though Tia had a mind sharper and clearer than anyone else’s, she was painfully starved for love in ways no one could imagine.Once she came of age, she sought out a psychiatrist and became honest with her struggles. The doctor heard her out and suggested softly, “You can always try forming meaningful emotional connections with a family of your own. It may help with your healing journey.” A family of her own? The idea was the most ridiculous thing Tia had ever heard. She knew herself too well. Her capacity for love was intense. She needed a partner whose heart and mind were entirely on her. Her kind of obsessive attachment was too much

Once the initial shock washed away, Tia closed her eyes and surrendered to the moment. I only pulled back and released her when the air was drained from our lungs. Tia heaved heavily, her eyes misting over. Yet, she kept her eyes on me, her voice raspy. “Are you doing this out of pity?” For her father to deny her so publicly, any affection shown to her seemed like charity. It broke my heart to see her so dejected and vulnerable. “No.” My response was brief but firm. Tia nodded, clearly unconvinced. She apologized to me. “It was wrong of me to lock you up and put you through this. I’m sorry. I won’t stop you from leaving. “Should you decide to quit over this, I’ll approve a hefty severance package and a fully-paid property downtown.” She sank into the couch and closed her eyes in resignation. To watch her put on a brave act, I felt hurt and angry for her. I lifted my arm, grabbed her by the collar, and pulled her closer to me. We were suddenly so close that the

My hand flew up, and I whacked Tia across the face. I didn’t strike her hard. It was more like a playful tease, but that was a rude awakening for Tia. The longing in her eyes vanished, overtaken by panic and remorse. Tia backed away, widening the distance between us. “I’m sorry, Levi. I lost control.” Unable to look me in the eye, she jolted to her feet and scrambled out of there. I looked at the closed door, frustration sweeping over me. Well, that blew up in my face. The plan was to play hard to get and watch her get lost in the moment. I never expected to scare her off. If only I could turn back time and undo it. Seeing how Tia was obsessed with me, I figured that she’d only need a night to sort out her feelings and come back to me the next day. To my dismay, she was gone for 24 hours. I hadn’t seen her since. From then on, the only contact I had was with the housekeeper, who delivered my meals three times a day. She always set the food down and left without a

Tia’s eyes reflect amusement at my plea. “You finally came to me and asked for something.” Then, her brows furrowed as she said unhappily, “You can take a shower, but don’t go formal on me.” I pretended to feel uneasy. In truth, I spoke the name I’d whispered many times in my head. “Tia.” Tia’s eyes sparkled. “That’s my good boy.” She reached out and unbuckled the shackles around my ankle. With the cold metal sliding off, I regained my freedom. As her fingertips traced along the red marks on my skin, she urged, “You can shower, but don’t even try to run. I’m not letting you go.” I nodded in compliance. Run? I had no plans on leaving. I stepped into the bathroom and took my time in the shower. Once I figured the timing was right, I turned off the showerhead and grabbed a bath towel to wrap loosely around my hips, the lines of my abdomen visible. I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath before putting on my most helpless expression. I raised my voice slightly.

  • Love under Lock   Chapter 7

It was a good thing that I hadn’t planned on going anywhere. Making myself comfortable, I lay back down and examined the room I was held captive in. … Before, it never occurred to me that I was Tia’s crush. Even when I had eyes on the manor, I didn’t pick up on anything. Now that I took a closer inspection, it struck me that the room’s layout and décor were tailored to my aesthetics. The walls were painted in the soft beige tone I loved most. The curtains were the luxurious sheer ones I had saved to my favorites forever. The bedding was made of soft cotton fabric I had been obsessed with for years.Even the scent on the nightstand was that niche fragrance I’d once casually mentioned liking in a social media post. Every corner of the room reflected my tastes down to the smallest detail.Bliss overtook my every being, clearing away all the jealousy I had bottled up. This was wonderful. We were each other’s obsession, the kind of twisted devotion that went both ways.Si

Tia looked gentle as the soft sunlight spilled over her shoulders. Only the obsession lurking in her eyes was predatory. Before I could milk the performance, Tia came closer and leaned in to pull me into her arms. Her warm breath brushed across my hair as her hand fluttered on my back. She offered me comfort. “Don’t be scared, baby. I’m not going to hurt you.” While I greedily savored her scent, I flinched on purpose, as if fear had gotten the best of me. “I’ve been in love with you for ages.” She rested her chin on top of my head, her voice morbidly sweet. “The moment you held the finance magazine with me as the cover and told me earnestly that I was your role model, I was hooked. “You were distant with everyone else, but endlessly attentive to me. Still, I was terrified that your affection was fleeting, and you might just take it away one day.“I can’t stand anyone else in your life. I won’t have you smiling at anyone else. Even if it was just a glance, it makes me lose
