XAVIER’S POV

The door shut with a soft click behind Jackson and Liam, but somehow, it sounded louder than it should have. The silence that followed was thick, almost weighted. It pressed in on me, making my ears ring. The air smelled sharp—blood and tension—and my heart pounded so hard, my pulse echoed in my skull.

Silas stood by the window, dabbing at his split lip with a silk handkerchief. My handkerchief, actually. That damn smirk never left his face, like he wasn’t bothered in the slightest. Like he hadn’t just crossed a serious line.

“You touched my son’s mate.” My voice was calm—too calm—but the threat in it was clear.

He gave a low, lazy laugh, as if I were overreacting. “You say it like I bit her or something,” he said, tossing the bloody cloth onto the table like it was nothing. “I just held her wrist.”

My hands twitched at my sides. I could feel the old wolf in me stir—the part that used to rise without hesitation. It wasn’t as strong anymore, but the instinct remained.

  • Loved By The Lycan King    Epilogue

HANNAH’S POVThe house breathed again. Not just standing there with its beams and bricks and creaky bones—it actually felt alive, like it had a pulse. Voices ricocheted off the walls, footsteps overlapped in a kind of messy harmony, laughter rolled from one room to another until it wrapped around me like a blanket. The air itself smelled like home: roasted herbs, warm bread fresh out of the oven, and somewhere behind it all, the buttery sweetness of apple pie cooling on the counter. My kitchen had missed this chaos. So had I.For years it was just Xavier and me—quiet mornings, quiet nights, and little Xavier’s chatter filling in the spaces. That was enough then, it had to be. But today… today my chest ached in that deep, expanding way, like my heart was trying to stretch wider than it had in years.“Grandma Hannah!”Ethan’s voice hit me first—sharp, high, bubbling over with energy—before I even spotted him. A flash of messy hair and skinny arms, and then he was thundering across the l

KAREN’S POVTwo months. That’s how long it had been since Liam and Sarah packed their bags and vanished off to the city for school. The house had grown quieter without their noise. Not silent—never silent—but emptier in a way I hadn’t expected.Alpha Xavier and Luna Hannah practically kidnapped little Xavier the moment they could. They hovered, spoiled him rotten, treated him like he was carved out of something delicate and priceless. Honestly? Jackson and I didn’t complain. Their obsession gave me room to breathe, and lately, goddess knew I needed it.Because something was wrong with me. Not the kind of wrong you can shake off with tea and a nap. This was deeper, heavier. I was exhausted in my bones, my stomach turned traitor every other hour, and the strangest things—Jackson’s cologne, fried onions, even my beloved morning coffee—hit my nose like poison. That morning was the worst. I’d barely made it to the bathroom before I was bent over the toilet, heaving up the single slice of t

LIAM’S POVThree months had slipped by, but the air itself seemed changed—lighter, as though the ghosts of battles and old wounds had finally loosened their grip on me. The heaviness I used to carry in my chest wasn’t gone completely, but it no longer ruled me. Something else had taken its place—something alive, like sunlight creeping into a room after a long storm. Today, that light gleamed on Sarah’s finger in the form of a small, breathtaking ring. Our engagement hadn’t been a spectacle. No grand ballroom, no endless toasts, no dramatic show to prove the Alpha’s son knew how to throw a party. Just us, our families, and a vow that meant more than anything glittering chandeliers or expensive wine ever could. Quiet. Intimate. Real.Jackson and Karen already had little Xavier clinging to their legs, their lives settled and steady like roots sunk deep into the earth. But Sarah and I… we were chasing something else. College. Together. Even now, the word felt strange on my tongue, like it

XAVIER’S POVI didn’t hear the door creak open. What reached me first was her scent—the faint lavender that clung to her skin, always soft, always steady. My eyes, still burning from staring too long at the same spot, dragged themselves away from the photograph in my hands. The picture was old. The edges bent and soft. A tiny Laila sat frozen in time, porridge smeared across one cheek, her gummy smile stretching wide like the world had no weight yet. Her hands—those chubby little fingers—were reaching for me, desperate to be held. And then… she was there. Not the baby in the picture, but Hannah—standing in the doorway. She didn’t say a word at first. Just moved slowly, almost cautiously, as though one wrong step might shatter the silence holding the room together. I felt her before she touched me. When her hand slid over mine, brushing across my knuckles, my throat went tight. She didn’t pull the photo away quickly. No, she held it with both hands, trembling slightly, treating it like

Laila’s POVThe goodbyes kept coming, each one tearing another piece of me away. By the time Alex guided me outside toward the waiting car, my hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I turned one last time, desperate to burn every detail into my memory—Mama’s tears, Papa’s arm wrapped firmly around her, Liam with his stubborn smirk faltering, Jackson holding up little Xavier’s tiny hand in a wave, Sarah clinging to Liam’s shirt as she sobbed. When the car started rolling, I pressed my palm against the glass like I could still touch them. But they grew smaller and smaller until my vision blurred and all I could do was bury my face into Alex’s chest. His shirt dampened quickly with my tears.“It’s so hard to leave them,” I whispered, voice raw.His lips pressed into my hair, warm, steady. “I know, my love. But you’re not losing them—you’re carrying them with you.” His hand rested over my heart. “And Blue Cross is waiting to welcome you. They already love you.”The ache eased, just a little, with hi
