“It’s okay. I can just call a taxi—” Kacee began, but the man immediately cut her off.

“Don’t worry, I just want to help,” said the stranger standing in front of her.

“But I’m not asking for help,” she replied firmly.

“But I can see that you need it—” This time, she was the one who interrupted him.

“Can you please mind your own business?” she snapped, turning her back on him.

But before she could take another step away, he suddenly grabbed her arm, startling her.

“Don’t touch me!” she shouted, quickly jerking her arm away from his grasp.

“Oops, sorry—”

“Are you some kind of pervert?” she asked angrily, catching him off guard.

“W-what?” he stammered.

“If you bother me one more time, I’ll call the police,” she warned.

He immediately raised both his hands in surrender. “You’re unbelievable. I just wanted to help, Miss—”

“I already told you I don’t need your help! What part of that don’t you understand?” she snapped again.

“Fine, I won’t bother you anymore,” he said with a small laugh.

Kacee rolled her eyes in frustration. This guy must be crazy. She couldn’t figure out what his problem was or why he seemed so amused. Lucky for him, she was still being patient—otherwise, she really would’ve reported him for harassment.

She turned her back on him once more and hailed a taxi. The man simply stood there, watching her until she got inside and left.

Kacee shook her head as the taxi drove away. Men like him are so annoying. Maybe he thought she would fall for his little act—but he was dead wrong. She didn’t need any man in her life. And the nerve of him to call himself her “savior”! He really made her blood boil.

When she finally calmed down, she called an auto repair shop to have her car towed and fixed. A few minutes later, she arrived at the Blue Prime Hotel, where she worked as the executive secretary of Chairman Emman Vego, the head of the company.

After paying the taxi driver, Kacee quickly entered the building and went straight up to the office.

“Good morning, Ma’am,” several employees greeted as she passed by.

“Good morning,” she replied with a polite smile.

She glanced at her wristwatch and hurried toward the conference room.

“I’m sorry I’m late, sir,” she apologized to Chairman Emman as soon as she entered.

“It’s okay. It’s good that Mr. Dyllan hasn’t arrived yet either,” he replied casually.

“P–pardon? D–Dyllan?” she stammered, as if her ears were playing tricks on her.

Before she could even recover from her shock, the door opened—and there he was. The same man she had argued with earlier. He was smiling confidently as he walked in and sat comfortably beside the chairman, his eyes never leaving hers.

“Sorry, I’m a bit late,” he said, still looking directly at her. “I ran into a woman whose car broke down. I was going to help her, but… she refused.”

Kacee's lips parted in disbelief.

“I didn’t know there were women who could still say no to you, Mr. Dyllan,” Chairman Emman commented with a light laugh.

“Exactly. That woman was… quite something,” Mr. Dyllan replied, shaking his head slightly, but his gaze remained fixed on Kacee.

At that, her knees nearly went weak.

“By the way, Mr. Dyllan, this is Ms. Kacee Samiano, my secretary. She’ll be the one presenting today,” Chairman Emman introduced.

Kacee swallowed hard, one gulp after another. She couldn’t believe how terribly unlucky her morning had turned out to be. First, her car broke down, then she lashed out at a stranger—only to find out he was the very man she’d be presenting to.

If only the ground would open up and swallow me right now, she thought in utter embarrassment.

“Ms. Samiano, this is Mr. Anthony Dyllan, the director and acting CEO of Real Estate Land,” the chairman continued.

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Samiano,” Mr. Dyllan greeted politely.

She cleared her throat before replying nervously, “N–nice to meet you too… s–sir Anthony Dyllan.”

“Okay, let’s start the business,” he said, flashing her a composed smile.

That smile—so calm and professional—somehow helped ease the tension in her chest. I’ll just apologize to him later, she told herself.

She began her presentation, and thankfully, both men listened attentively. Anthony Dyllan, she noticed, was a highly professional man. Despite their earlier encounter, he maintained a formal, courteous demeanor throughout the meeting—perfectly separating personal matters from business.

After more than an hour, Kacee finally finished her presentation. Chairman Emman planned to open the fifth branch of Blue Prime Hotel in Batangas. Unlike the other branches, this one was intended to be more affordable and family-friendly. The Real Estate Land Company, on the other hand, owned several properties in the area that could be used for the project.

“Thank you for the wonderful presentation, Ms. Samiano. You never disappoint me,” Chairman Emman said with a pleased smile.

“Thank you, sir,” she replied politely.

“I agree with the chairman,” Mr. Anthony said, smiling as well. “I think we can already proceed with this project.”

“Good,” the chairman nodded approvingly. “Now, may I request who I’d like to assign to handle this project?” he asked Mr. Anthony.

“Of course, chairman. Anything for you,” Mr. Anthony replied with a grin.

“I want your brother,” the chairman said. “I’ve heard that he’s in demand right now, and many are offering him big projects.”

“My brother?” Anthony raised a brow before smiling. “Well… sure! No problem with that. I’ll be the one to inform him.”

“That’s great,” the chairman said, visibly pleased, before turning his attention back to Kacee. “Ms. Samiano.”

“Yes, sir?” she responded attentively.

“I want you to continue handling and monitoring this project together with Mr. Anthony’s brother,” Chairman Emman instructed. “You already understand the kind of output we’re aiming for.”

“Noted, sir,” she agreed at once.

The chairman handed her a blue portfolio. But the moment she looked inside, her eyes widened in shock.

“He is… Architect Ryan Dyllan.”

Hell no. No way!

“Sissy, I woke up late. I’m going to be late for school, so I won’t be able to drive you,” Josh said hurriedly and in a panic to Rica from the other end of the line.“You’re always out partying at night! That’s why you wake up late,” Rica scolded Josh.“Come on, lecture me later. I’m already running late. I need to submit my plates,” Josh said.“So what about me? I’ll commute on my own?” Rica replied irritably.“Just call Rodnie for now. Let him drive you instead.”“As if he’d have to go out of his way—he lives near the airport anyway,” Rica said, annoyed.“I’m sorry, okay? Just commute for now. I really have to go. Bye,” Josh said in a rush before ending the call.“Bad trip,” Rica muttered.Every day, Rica's cousin Josh drove her to and from the apartment to the airport where she

“What is the reason you want this project to be handled by someone else?” Chairman Emman asked Kacee seriously. He studied her closely as he sat back in his swivel chair.“I know I’m not in a position to choose my assignments, sir. But… I sincerely hope you’ll grant this request,” Kacee pleaded earnestly.“Ms. Samiano, give me a valid reason so I can understand why you want to pass this project on to someone else.”Kacee couldn’t answer Chairman Emman's question. She didn’t know how to explain it—or whether she should even say the real reason at all: that she couldn’t work with that man.“If you can’t give me a sufficient reason, I’ll assume you never made this request in the first place,” he said. “All right. You may go.”She bit her lower lip, and just before she could completely step out of Chairman Emman’s office, an i

Ryan winced as he continued to feel the sting and ache on his left cheek. He couldn’t believe that a woman had slapped him so forcefully. In his shock at what she had done, he had been unable to speak. He froze, only watching as she walked away completely. He felt the warmth of the tequila he was drinking rise in his stomach. He couldn’t understand why she had slapped him. Had he said something wrong? Everything had been true—and, in fact, she had insisted on all of it. So why was she angry with him? He had only indulged her in the intense desires she expressed that night.“Hey, Ryan,” Gina whispered, her voice low and seductive as her hand brushed over his chest. At that moment, he was in the VIP room of their favorite party bar, a place he often frequented with his friends. Actually, the bar was owned by his cousin, so he came here often. This was also where he had met Gina, a private tutor who loved bar-hopping. By

Kacee exhaled a deep, shaky breath at his words. She couldn’t believe that after all these years, this was all he had to say to her.“I came back for you, but you were no longer there, baby,” he murmured. “And guess what? I’m glad to see you again,” he added. She shut her eyes tightly, and when she opened them again, she quickly snatched the wristwatch from his hand. She was about to step away—anywhere away from him—while he remained close behind her, when he suddenly grabbed her arm. The moment his hand touched her, a strange current shot through her body.“You’re leaving already? You’re not even going to say anything… after I made you feel so good?” His tone carried a hint of disbelief. But she detested every word coming out of his mouth.I can’t believe this!“Get away from me,” she said firmly. But he only let out a soft, amused chuckle

Kacee arrived at the office early, even though she had been awake almost the entire night, her mind restless. Restless from thinking about how she would face the man she never imagined she’d have to see again. Restless from wondering how she could possibly perform her duties with proper professionalism in front of him.“Kacee!” Jema called out in a hushed voice the moment she saw her walking down the hallway, a tumbler in hand. She hurried toward her. “Are you still mad at me?” Jema asked as soon as she reached her.“Jema, I’m not mad at you—”“I’m really sorry for leaving your side for a while,” Jema cut her off immediately. “I’d had a bit too much to drink, so I ended up going to the dance floor with Rodolfo—”“Jema, it’s okay,” she reassured her quickly. “I didn’t disappear that night because I was angry at you for going with Rodolfo.”“Huh? Then… why did you leave?” Jema asked— And that was the question she didn’t know how to answer.Images of everything that had happened between

His fingers tapped lightly on the surface as if savoring the warmth and rich taste of the coffee.“Kacee Samiano,” he read aloud from a paper with her information and photograph that lay on the table. He took another sip from his cup, and a wide grin slowly spread across his lips.“So that’s why you know me,” he murmured quietly to himself. He closed her eyes and let the memories of that night come flooding back.Exhausted and out of breath, he had lain beside her after he took her, taking a moment to quietly observe her gentle and beautiful features. He couldn’t believe what had happened between them, and the memory left him with a strange, intense awareness of himself.A small smile spread across his face at the thought. He adjusted himself and lay down beside her, keeping his eyes closed. Suddenly, she sat up quickly, looking unwell, and vomited onto the floor. He immediately move
