“No. You don’t mean that. Why are you saying that?” She reached for him again, but he took a step back.

Ciara’s heart broke at seeing him avoid her. The dam of tears flooded her face, and she grabbed him again.

“I won’t ask you to wait for me. You’ve already waited long enough. If you meet someone better, don’t hesitate. I only want the best for you.” To be honest, he’s still not sure where he’s going with this. A part of him is telling him he’s crazy for hurting her like this. A part of him is also telling him that this is one way not to drag her down with him. He held her at a distance.

No, he won’t. She would beg him if she had to. All she thought in that moment is how to make him stay. Her legs felt weak and as she slumped down on the floor, she reached for his leg. She held it tightly.
