Chapter 1
Samara’s POV
I looked around the room checking to make sure everything was the way he liked it. I was a little bit satisfied that it would be up to his expectations. Although he was an assh*le, I didn't have a choice this time. I had to follow the order of the head maid and today I was asked to clean Ronald's room. He's the soon-to-be Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, the pack my grandfather sent me to, or should I say sold to when I turned twelve.
Well, my name is Samara, the seventeen-year-old weird and abominable granddaughter of Alpha Quintus of Silverfang Pack. Yeah, I'm considered weird because my mother died a few months before she was due for labour but how I survived they said was a miracle. I was born with Emerald Green eyes and brown hair with white streaks. And my father whom I have never met or even seen a picture of is said to be an abominable beast and an enemy to the entire werewolf race.
So I guess you already know I'm a curse and an abomination to the Pack, a shame from the Alpha’s lineage. Probably why my grandfather was ashamed of having me around as his granddaughter and possibly heir to the throne so he sent me here, far away from home where nobody knows the truth.
“Oh my goodness!” I shouted, dropping the heavy wooden bucket I was holding. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice I had been joined by someone else who was silently present until he was behind me.
I opened my eyes wide as I watched the dirty water in the bucket pour on the floor I had just finished scrubbing. I looked up at the person who got in only to realize it was Ronald whose room I was currently cleaning. Of course who else was I expecting it to be, it's his room after all.
“Ronald,” I said.
“Is that all you have to say, huh?”
I furrowed my brows in surprise. What was he expecting from me?
“You little bast*rd! You could have injured me if that bucket had dropped on my toe. Have you lost your manners or didn't you learn any at Silverfang?” He hissed.
“It was a mistake. I am sorry. But you scared me. I wasn't expecting you here. I thought you were in the Alpha's office for a meeting.” I replied, trying to politely let him know that I wasn't at fault. He was the one sneaking around, not me.
“You weren't expecting me in my room?” He growled as he took a step closer to me. I know what he was trying to do, he wanted me to flinch, to show signs of submission to his Alpha aura.
“No. I mean Victoria told me you won't be back until midnight and that aside you scared me,” I replied in my most respectful tone.
He sighed before saying, “See Samara you have to cut the sharpness of your tongue when talking to me and you're supposed to bow down when I'm talking and listen before you speak. Very soon I'll be the Alpha of this pack and you'll have to accord me my respect when living in my pack or else you'll be punished severely.”
“Whatever,” I said, walking out of the room with the bucket and mop.
“Don't worry you won't be saying this in a few days. I will be waiting while you come begging me to save you from your predicament.”
“You wish,” I hissed.
“Okay, but lest I forget my father wants to see you. There is some big news awaiting you. One that will make you come begging me.”
I dropped the bucket and mop back and immediately left for Alpha Darius' office. I reached his office and knocked softly and waited until I heard “come in.”
I go into his office and lower my head to show a sign of respect. “Alpha, you wanted to see me.”
“Yes, Samara,” he said in his cold husky voice. “I was told you weren't doing a good job in the kitchen so you were asked to clean Ronald’s room but instead you messed the room up.”
“No, Alpha. That is not true.”
It wasn't even up to five minutes and he had already mind-linked his dad to complain. A typical daddy's boy.
“So you expect me to believe you, an outcast whose pack rejected and did not want anything to do with over my own son and the head maid of my pack?”
I kept mute as I blinked back the tears that were threatening to slide down my cheeks. How can I reply knowing fully well that he was saying the truth? But the fact that they always remind me that I'm an outcast and that my family rejected me hurts.
His eyes narrowed, and I could see irritation flicker across his face. “Anyway, you will be leaving in a few weeks,” he finally said. “Maybe one or two I don't know but very soon and you are never going to return.”
“Where are you sending me to Alpha? Am I going back to Silverfang?” I questioned, my heart already beating in anticipation. I wasn't sure if it was good news or bad news that I was leaving. Or maybe grandfather has realized that I'm the only family he has left and I should be next in line to become Alpha.
“Yeah, you'll be going back to Silverfang. Although your grandfather said something about marriage preparations for you. I didn't really bother to ask much about it. But you'll know more when you guys meet.”
My mouth dropped open, but no words came out. The words felt like a slap and I just sat there mouth open, unable to move and barely breathing. “This can't be true, right?” I whispered.
He sighed. “Look. Like I said, Samara, I don't know much about the arrangement and that's all. You can leave now.”
I slowly dragged myself out of his office and down to the maid's quarters where I was staying and lay down on the bed. The news from Alpha Darius kept replaying in my head the whole time, but still, it didn't make any sense.
Tomorrow is my eighteenth birthday and I might get to meet my mate, so why would my grandfather want to marry me off to some Alpha? It just doesn't make any sense. My whole life just feels like a comedy show. I can't even get to live half a normal life like every other person. From being maltreated, bullied and the pack outcast to serving as a slave in another pack and now being married off to goddess knows who.
Truly I'm definitely cursed.
Chapter 5Samara's POVThe moment I said the word 'Mate!' My mate's facial expression went blank and unreadable. He stared at me for what seemed like an hour, and even when the lady behind him spoke to him, he didn’t respond. I doubted he even heard her. He then muttered something, flashed a weird smile at me then turned and left the prison house. Edgar and the lady who came in with him called him a couple of times as he was walking out but he didn't respond, more like he chose to ignore them. After he left, the lady approached me. Immediately I laid eyes on her, I suddenly felt insecure and embarrassed. She looked at me with disgust, then turned and walked away. The lady looked undeniably beautiful, but from the way she looked at me, I could tell she was very pissed. She also seemed like a high-ranking werewolf. But what position could she possibly hold in the pack? Female Alphas are rare — female Betas even more so. Or maybe... she’s the Alpha’s sisterEdgar was the last person to l
Chapter 4Lucian's POV“Mate!”Her words keep ringing in my ears like a hammer on an anvil as I walk out of the prison house with no clear destination in mind. I have finally seen her after waiting patiently for over eight years. I’m supposed to be happy, but I can't afford to be. She is the perfect definition of everything that could go wrong. She has almost every wrong combination of things I hate. First, she might be a human, a creature I don't trust due to their constant betrayal. Also, I'm one of the leading Alphas in the world, and I need a very strong and capable Luna beside me.However, if she's a werewolf then she's a rogue and I have sworn after the death of my twin brother to kill every rogue who crosses my path. I can't accept her, I just can't. Who knows she might be dangerous to the pack. Or still, she might be a spy from Midnight Howlers Pack. She can't be my Luna, I have to reject her and sentence her to the normal death penalty for rogues.“What? Why?” My wolf Arthur
Chapter 3Lucian's POVI let out a deep sigh after going through the contents of the letter in my hand.“How was the meeting with the other Alpha and the Council Elders?” I asked my Beta and best friend Freya, who looked at me and gave out a tired sigh of her own.Aside from my mom, Freya has been the only person I truly cherish, love and trust in my life. She has been through it all with me—ever since we were kids, when I lost my father during the Cold War, and later, as teenagers, when I lost my twin brother to the vampire and rogue attack that threatened the existence of our pack. She has always been around whenever I needed her and in whatever way I did. So many people were surprised, even the Council Elders, when I made her the Beta of my Pack.My pack—the Ethereal Nightwalkers—is the strongest werewolf pack in North America, one of the largest, and ranked among the top five packs in the world. So they thought appointing a female Beta would make us appear weak, but she has proven
Chapter 2Samara’s POVFor hours, I stared at the ceiling, replaying the conversation with Alpha Darius. I didn't even notice when I absent-mindedly removed my moonstone pendant. I only realize it when my wolf, Nyla, brought me out of my reverie.“Sam please stand up.”“Is that you Nyla?” I asked nervously.I met my wolf, Nyla, when I turned eight and accidentally made my first shift in my grandmother's garden. She was almost the size of my grandfather’s wolf at the time. We didn’t know what to do after the sudden change, so we just started playing and chasing butterflies around the garden. When my grandmother finally came, she was shocked to see a huge wolf with heterochromia eyes in her garden chasing butterflies ( One of Nyla’s eyes is red, and the other is blue ). My grandma realized that Nyla had my scent, so she called out. I answered by running toward her and nudging her with our silver fur.She helped me shift back and told me how dangerous and complicated my life already is b
