Chapter 22

*Arielle's POV*

Rays of sunlight fell directly on my face and I squinted my eyes, letting out a groan as I rolled from one side of the bed to the other, kicking my feet

"Oh, please Ryan, shut it.." I groaned.

Nothing.

My brows deepened. "Ryan?" I called, and once again, nothing. I flashed my eyes open and to the window, there was no one. The wind had blown the curtains to the side giving the sun direct access to my face.

I rolled my eyes, dragging my body off the bed, and lazily to the window, I dragged the curtains and yanked it to the side, shutting the awful sun bath.

I yawned lazily as I slumped to the chair, rolling my body left and right on it as I stared into nothing.

Ryan wasn't here. Of course he wasn't, he hasn't been here in days. Neither has he.

It's been exactly a week since Aiden found his mate- Ariana. And he hasn't called or texted since then, neither has Ryan. I haven't seen my best friends in days.

And me? It's been exactly seven days since I've been bedridden. Ever since that night when my wolf made a sudden appearance, and in the brief seconds she had come, it felt like a surge of energy and great power had fallen upon me and when she left, I was left with nothing, again.

Except this time, it almost killed me. It weakened me, a lot. A student had found me by the beach where I had passed out and brought me home. And since then, I've been on my bed, not moving, spending most of my time sleeping.

Mom had asked me what happened when I woke up the next day, but I told her nothing had happened. She seemed to take the initiative as she stopped asking me any questions. While a part of me told me, she must have thought it was related to Aiden finding his mate.

Even if she hasn't, Ariana had surely thought so, she would stay outside my room, and purposely voice out; "Mom, I wonder how long she'll keep laying in there. It must really hurt to lose your crush to someone else" She would say then walk off with a possible smile on.

Since she became the Luna- future Luna, her ego had increased drastically, I haven't seen her since then but I would hear her, she had thrown three parties in the past one week. And she would talk about how well Aiden's family were treating her, and she would go there every now and then and only come back when it's late.

"Mom, we're newly mated, we have stuffs to do, you know?" She would groan whenever mom complained about how late she was to dinner.

And I, here I was, sulking and mourning the loss of my wolf. For some reason, I haven't been that bothered or thought too much of Aiden and Ariana. In fact, I was barely bothered. I think the split loss of my wolf had done something to me.

And Ryan.. I missed him, a lot. If he was here, then I wouldn't care about anything else. I hadn't seen him at the party either, he must have left early.

I grabbed my phone. If they don't text, perhaps I should.

*Hi..

I erased it.

*Where are you?...

No.

*Are you at home?..

No.

*Will you be in school tomorrow? Will you pick me up...

No.

I sighed and dropped my phone again.

Tomorrow, we will be resuming school again. A week holiday had been given following the alpha prince's successful mating ceremony. Tomorrow was going to be frenzy as hell, I could feel it.

"Arielle.." A knock came at the door, mom's little voice came out. She probably wanted to check if I was still sleeping. Should I pretend I still was? I wasn't ready to face anyone right now. Not even them. Mom hadn't asked me about what happened that night, about how Aiden was about to choose me as his mate but then stopped. Everyone wanted to know if I had felt it too, or what happened, but the truth is, I didn't know as well.

I had felt a surge, and I had felt her, my wolf, and I was in heat, restless, and I could feel and hear Aiden, every inch and part of his body, I could feel it, but then.. it just stopped.

Was that how one felt when one was about to find one's mate? I didn't know, so I couldn't say for sure.

"I'm not hungry" I say instead, dropping my phone.

"No darling, Ryan is here" my eyes widened at once. I rushed to the door, opened it then dashed out of my room, and down the stairs, then towards the door.

I got there, and there was no one. My brows furrowed. She lied. Why?

I turned, my face in a frown as I walked back in.

"You said.." I almost raised my voice.

"Heyy" I heard Ryan say. My eyes widened at once. My lips mold into a pout and before I could stop myself, tears rolled down my cheeks. "Heyy.." He called, now concerned. I rushed to him, and jumped in his arm, hugging him tightly.

He wrapped his arms around me immediately, leading us to my room immediately.

Okay, I lied. I wasn't okay. Seeing Ryan right now just reminded me of Aiden..I lost him, my best friend, I had no one again. Ryan dropped me slowly, wiping the corner of my eyes slowly. He didn't say a word, and just dried my eyes.

I hugged him again, tightening my grip around his body. "I missed you" I muttered. "I missed you too" I heard him say, as he wrapped his arms around me.

I finally pulled away, cleared my throat and walked to the edge of the bed where I had my seat. Ryan rolled my chair closer to me, and sat.

He raised his brows. "What.." He said but stopped. I raised my brows as I watched him have a conversation with himself. My brows deepened, oh, he was in a mind link.

He was done and he faced me. "So?..

"Who was it?" I asked at once. A part of me hoped it was Aiden, and he had sent him here.

"My mate. She said she felt me being worried" He said instead.
