Ersa

Once the Trial concluded, we were ushered back to the receiving room, sitting in a tense, suffocating quiet to await the final pronouncement. Despite my strategic defense, the uncertainty of a Prefect-determined verdict gnawed at me. I told myself I had answered impeccably, but the true stakes were too high for comfort.

Lyanna’s failure, however, was a certainty. I glanced at her; her head was bowed, her expression distant, as if already contemplating a life beyond the competition.

The waiting finally ended. We were called back into the formal chamber, and the three of us stood facing the Prefects once more. I clenched my jaw, feeling the familiar pressure as Orpheus stepped forward.

“I have summoned you to declare the final judgment for today’s Trial,” he announced, his voice imbued with the gravity of a magistrate.

“First, Ms. Everine Throne, you are cleared of the charges and successfully completed the Second Trial.”

A sharp, almost wounded sigh of relief escaped Eve’s lips.

ErsaI was certain that when Elder Lumos called us again, Eve had successfully added another reason to her growing list of grievances against me.Her dark expression was one of barely contained fury, far angrier than any prior confrontation. The Final Trial was clearly pushing her past her limit, and desperation was setting in. The image of the friendship we once shared was becoming blurrier and blurrier each day, and I couldn't shake the heavy feeling that perhaps the entire collapse was somehow my fault.I heaved a sigh of frustration, trying to focus on the Elder’s instructions. “To attain genuine peace is to achieve a state of reconciliation with your absolute, essential self. Follow my lead.” He said and led us down the hall to a room where a massive, full-body mirror stood draped in shadow in the center of the floor.“I have brought a mirror from my personal collection,” he explained, his voice solemn.“It offers a vision almost identical to what transpires within the Wolf’s Hea

ErsaAlpha Sano’s lips crashed back against mine, the hunger in his kiss stealing my breath completely. His tongue delved deeper, tangling with mine in a fierce, urgent dance that demanded surrender. The steaming hot spring water lapped at our skin, but its heat was insignificant compared to the fire igniting between us.His strong hands gripped my buttocks firmly, lifting me with effortless power until I was straddling his lap, my thighs instinctively parting to settle over his rigid frame. He was completely bare beneath the swirling water, and the demanding length of his arousal pressed insistently against my core. The thin, soaked fabric of my underwear was the only, ridiculously inadequate barrier preventing him from sliding deep inside me.A sharp gasp escaped my lips at the profound sensation, muffled against his mouth, and I felt the curve of his grin widen against my own as he deepened the kiss, refusing to break contact. One of his hands remained firm on my ass, kneading the

ErsaEve had been the first to stalk away, leaving me to follow moments later. I was mostly dry now, but despite the scorching ambient temperature, a deep, bone-aching cold had settled within me.“Ersa.” Alpha Sano greeted me in the hallway, his voice brimming with unsettling enthusiasm.I couldn’t seem to return it. “Alpha…”“The Elder brought you to the falls. You are still somewhat damp, I observe.”The recent conversation about his alleged preferences weighed heavily. Hearing his casual tone now, after Eve’s cutting remarks, made my energy drain even further.“Yes, I must head inside immediately to change. If you would excuse my haste.”“Of course, of course.”I offered him a brief, formal bow and walked past him. I slid open my door and stepped inside, but before I could close the barrier, the Alpha followed, stepping into the room with an undeniable claim on the space.“Alpha!” I exclaimed, the sound half-panic, half-anger at the intrusion. He merely chuckled, completely at ease

ErsaThe day of our travel to the Ashfall Pack had arrived, a solemn journey undertaken by the Alpha, Elder Lumos, Eve, myself, and a small retinue of male packmates for security.Although the Ashfall territory was designated as neutral ground, its valuable volcanic resources being shared among packs, Alpha Sano was taking no chances. As he stated, "We never know what ill intent might arise."As the carriage pressed on, the air inside grew oppressively hotter, and the daylight outside waned, the sky darkening unnaturally, as if we were entering a land permanently deprived of the sun. Then, the evidence appeared. I looked out the window and saw volcanic ash sifting down—proof of the live, terrifying peaks surrounding us.“I confess, I never expected the very climate to be so intensely hot,” I murmured to myself, but the Elder's ears were keen.“This region is intrinsically warm, child, though the heat is less from the volcanoes themselves than from the deep-seated core energies of this

ErsaA few days of desperately needed peace had settled over the mansion, a fragile silence after the Second Trial. That silence was shattered when the Alpha called us in for a formal announcement.“Have you had a proper rest?” Alpha Sano asked, his tone surprisingly gentle, and both Eve and I managed a quick, synchronized nod. “I would like to personally congratulate the two of you for successfully reaching the Final Trial.”“Thank you, Alpha,” Eve replied smoothly, offering a precise, practiced bow.“I would also like to introduce one of the two Prefects for the Wolf’s Heart—Elder Lumos Valenhart.” He glanced around the living room, noting the elder's absence. Then, the door was thrown open with a startling force. The blind-looking man, the same one I’d seen merely observing, and not questioning during the Wolf’s Eye, strode in.“Greetings, ladies,” he announced in a slow, deliberate tone that seemed to draw all the air from the room. “As you have been apprised, I am Lumos Valenhart

Ersa“To what do I owe this honor?” Orpheus asked, aiming a mocking smile at me as he paused securing the last of his luggage.I glared at him. “You lied to me. You claimed you didn't know him.”Rose had just confirmed the Rogue leader's name was Gaven. The idea was almost comical: the well-known Beta Gaven, a figure of high standing, has the same name with the Phantom Alpha.“I’m a well-known liar, Ersa. The baffling part is that you still chose to believe me when my deception suited your survival.” He dismissed my genuine concern with a shrug.I clenched my fists, shaking with frustration. Why were they all playing these cruel, dangerous games with me? Him, Rose, and most infuriatingly, the unseen Phantom Alpha."Who is he, really?" I pressed.“If Rose hasn’t been privileged with that sensitive information, I certainly haven’t,” he drawled, glancing at his wrist. “Anyway, I wish you luck and a fond farewell. Or perhaps, merely a brief intermission?”“Why would you get involved with
