Melissa tried to process everything ricard had just said, why was it when she felt like things would go back to normal? That's when he suddenly appears and everything gets ruined again.

“How can he be your client?” Melissa questioned.

“Why can’t it be them?” Richard questioned placing Melissa in another tight position as she though of how else to make Avalor sound bad.

“I heard about his company and ugh…he is involved In illegal things, why didn’t you tell me about it before it happened?” Melissa lied.

Richard sighed heavily, realizing the weight of the situation. "Avalor's company approached me for a business deal," he explained to Melissa, his voice tinged with regret. "They made an offer that was hard to refuse, and I ended up signing the contract."

Melissa's eyes filled with desperation as she pleaded with Richard. "Please, you have to find a way to back out of the deal. Avalor's company is not what it seems, they are involved in illegal activities. I can't let you get caught up i

Richard was dressed in a plain suit, he'd picked it up in the shopping mall not far from the zoo. Avalors had set up a small logistics division in a rented van near the zoo. They were not going to make any mistakes doing this. Regardless of Avalors "romantic connection," he'd decided they didn't take any chances. Being over prepared was never an issue. He walked into the zoo with a milkshake in his hand and he dipped a straw in it as he conversed with the security at the gate. Unlike the last time they came, today was a bit crowded as it was the weekend and families had planned to visit the zoo."Good afternoon my dear sir," he said in a different accent, that would make the security man probably declare he was from far south of Dunham."Good afternoon sir, how can I help you?" He replied."I am looking for a woman, her name is Margeret Clover," he said. The security man bulged his eyes and readjusted his posture as Richard had expected. Even though Margeret worked as an assistant her

The car stopped in front of the same hotel Richard and Avalors had rented the last time they were here. It was night already and the girls were still deeply asleep. Richard pushed open the door and got out, circling back to the other door, he pulled it open and carefully lifted Melissa from it.The Luna shrugged a bit but continued to sleep. Avalors and a half woken Beatrice had already gone out by this time to get the hotel rooms. He kicked the door shut and lifted her towards the hotel, he hadn't taken three steps when she jerked awake."Where are we?" She asked after a moment of silence."At a hotel," he said."Put me down," she ordered, inhaling deeply as he did. "Damn," she cursed."What?" he asked."I might have slept on my neck," she replied.Richard chuckled. "Come on, let's go," he said.Melissa and Richard walked through the hotel door and Avalors was waiting for them."Where is Beatrice?" Melissa asked before anyone could speak.Avalors replied by pointing upwards. "She hea

  • Luna's Reckoning   Journey

Melissa sat beside Richard in the back seat while Beatrice sat in the front seat and Avalors drove them. The reason for the entire drama was to attract attention from both the Council and the Vance kidnappers.Beatrice and Nathaniel had captured two of the spies in the castle. One of those spies worked as a maid and the other was a guard. They'd infiltrated the castle for five years and Melissa was just reading about this as they drove across towns. The journey to their destination would take at least seven hours which meant Melissa had the time to discuss with her personal council how things had been going. She flipped Beatrice's report as they continued the ride in silence. Beatirce had also convinced Nathaniel to stop doing business with the man from Vance pack and Beatrice had described Nathaniel's resistance as trying to boil a rock to soften. Melissa giggled at this and she felt Richard's hand ruffle her hair, she glanced up at him and raised her eyes. "I am a busy man,"she sai

  • Luna's Reckoning   Double Shuffle

Melissa woke up with hunger churning her stomach. She rolled out of her bed and angrily shut the window blinds. The morning sun was merciless and hot. For some reason the weather was clear today. It was so clear that strangers would never believe it was mostly always swampy here.Today was the day she was going to meet the woman named Margaret and they were leaving the castle grounds. She needed to be quick with dressing up or she'd delay the others. She walked into the bathroom and took her bath and before she would even finish with that, Candice and Vanessa were already in the room with a tray of food and the cloth she would wear. She glanced at Richard's bedside and she noticed he didn't even sleep there today. She'd fallen asleep faster the other day to even register if he came back, she didn't even eat before sleeping. She remembered she just wanted to lie for a bit. She chuckled to herself when she remembered this. She greeted both ber maids cheerfully and she sat down to eat a

After that day, Melissa went back to focusing on her work. The week would end in two days and Melissa was barely halfway with the book she was supposed to read. Most of the things in it were boring reports that didn't really matter, as most of them were the things Melissa already knew and others were only accurate in the past. She sat on her chair now, flipping the pages and reading them all with scrutiny, if she could just find anything that would just at least help them out quickly. Though she doubted she'd need this book anymore if the Mageret woman turned out to be the actual writer of this report. Melissa yawned and gave up at last. She couldn't stomach anymore of the reports. She rose up from her chair and headed straight to the training ground where Richard was already waiting. Ever since yesterday night they haven't really spoken to each other. It was more as if they were giving each other space to breathe. She found him with his kegs upside down while pushing his entire weigh

  • Luna's Reckoning   Freedom and Completeness

Richard and Melissa couldn't say anything to each other for the first few minutes. They just stared blankly into the air. Both of them had been pretending to be strong and happy all this while with the empty void of their family's absence eating them up bit by bit. Now that they listened to their last words, they got the closure they'd always wanted. Now they understood their purpose more but at this very moment, words couldn't necessarily express what they are feeling.Melissa stood up and closed the computer and Richard pulled out the flash drive, both of them working without saying anything as they packed up the computer. Afterwards, Richard sat on the sofa and Melissa went straight to his kitchen. She knew she needed to start doing something to get her head straight. So she decided she'd cook. It was one of the few things she did with her mom.Even though that woman wasn't always around, she'd made time for her and made sure those times were everlasting. So they'd do a whole lot o

  • Luna's Reckoning   Nostalgia

Melissa exhaled and Richard held her hand. Her mother was staring right at her from the screen and she just knew at that moment that she would never get over her. It wasn't necessarily something even time can heal. She exhaled and shook her head. The contents of the flash seemed to be a forty five minute video, so she nodded to Richard to play it. She was done running from stuffs like this, but she felt sorrowful, all her wounds had been opened up again"You sure you want to watch this with me, it might be a little bit sensitive," Richard said. "I don't care about that, I want you here cause you are the only family I have left. The only other person who I would share my entire life with." She said, "Plus, we don't know what the video is all about, so play it," she said, gesturing to him to do it by bulging her eyes. Richard found it cute and then kissed her before actually pressing the play button. The video began with Melissa's mom just smiling blankly at the screen, for a minute

  • Luna's Reckoning   Richard's Cottage

Melissa got out of the car, breathing in the air, it has been a long time since she's visited Richard's place. The house was still like she remembered, except a few modern changes that'd been added to it by Richard himself. It was a small house, almost like a cottage with several exotic plants surrounding it, most of them were planted for their attractive plumage while others were there for medicinal purposes or poisonous ones. For example, at the far edge of the arranged symmetry of flowers was the wolfsbane plant which is highly poisonous to werewolves. Melissa exhaled, as Richard's arm wrapped around her. "You okay?" he asked in a manner that showed he could care less about her answer. "You are too emotionless," she said and rolled her eyes. He chuckled. "I am just trying to do what normal boyfriends do, this whole relationship thing is a little out of my forté," he removed his hands from around her as he spoke. "I don't want a normal boyfriend," she replied with a smile. "I w

Lena," Melissa said, her eyes bulging out in awe. Lena was huge, no she was humongous. She laid right in front of her and stretched her claws towards her as if showing her that they were neatly manicured. Melissa stepped back to admire her more and what caught her attention the most was her eyes. Lena's eyes held a yellow wolf like iris. The kind that will glow in the dark but within it was like a turbulent wave of darkness. It was a vortex that seemed to suck everything around it into itself."So why are you here?" She asked, licking her paws carefully.Melissa couldn't deny she was a little bit afraid- scratch that, she was quite afraid. A single swing of Lena's paws and she would be squashed like a bug. The size difference, the presence she emitted and the eerie darkness coming from around the cave made Melissa quiver. She exhaled, reminding herself that this was just a part of her own soul, an individual in its own right but a part of her. "I want to talk to you," she said. "Dir
