Willow Baker POV

He frowned. "I will have to speak to my superiors before I can give you an answer. Even if he didn't intend to cause trouble, it is still undeniable that he had someone come into our country."

"I understand," I said as I nodded. "If only there was a way for both sides to show their sincerity."

The man had a thoughtful expression as I was internally screaming at him to use the opportunity I presented him with. This was the perfect time to bring up our families they had in their care.

When I had discussed with Maverick and Mildred about how to get the others back from Higsnesia, they had said I couldn't be the one to bring it up. If I did, then the representative would wonder how I knew about them being in Higsnesia.

I wouldn't be able to talk my way out of it. It would also give the other side more power in the negotiation. We wanted to avoid that if we wanted to get them back safely and without losing too much in the exchange.

As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground.
