Veronica’s POV

I hunkered down below the small table. The package was pressed to my chest. My heart beat so hard that I believed it caused the walls to reverberate.

I sighed when Seraphine called Elara’s name.

A low swell of relief rushed through me.

The timing was perfect I thought as a smile spread across my face above the small table. She’s such a smart queen… she had it down pat.

I moved my weight slowly to avoid any noise. My legs were going numb but I couldn’t move just yet.

“She is such a smart girl,” I murmured to myself.

Then I stopped. Grimacing. No… I have to wait and make sure she leaves first. Can’t risk her returning and finding me like this.

I drew a shaky breath, listening.

Then just as I was about to stand up and wriggle out from under the table, a voice.

A deep voice — strong but still calm — unmistakably Elara’s.

“Excuse me… what are you doing here?” she demanded, her voice loud and more biting than I would have expected.

I went still, my whole body rigid below th

The End and the BeginningElaras pov“Do you really think you can kill me, little moon?”Veronica’s voice slithered across the broken ballroom, sharp and poisonous. Her silhouette was now a black flame.Around us, shadows curled through the ruins.. as the air throbbed with what was left of her power.I stood there, trembling but unbowed. Blood ran down my temple, my arms were heavy, my lungs burned, but I didn’t care.. Not anymore.Behind me lay Lily’s still form, her skin pale, her lips blue. That was all it took.My fear had turned to fury.“Elara, don’t..” Kael’s voice reached me through the haze. But I was already moving.I lunged forward, silver light erupting from my hands. Veronica laughed as she parried my strike with a wave of shadow, the impact shattered what remained of the marble floor.“You’re strong,” she mocked, eyes glowing scarlet. “But you’re still nothing compared to me.. it is my power after all.”“Maybe,” I spat, sliding back, “but that doesn’t mean I’d let you g

The Blood Oath Ball (part 2)Elaras POV“Something’s wrong.”Those were the first words out of my mouth as I stood in the middle of the ballroom. The chandeliers glittered, laughter floated like perfume, and yet my skin crawled. My heart beat too fast. Every instinct screamed danger.Kael’s eyes met mine across the room. “You feel it too?”I nodded. “It’s like… the air is holding its breath.”Rowan, leaned against a pillar beside us, and muttered, “Then why are we still here?” His suit undone at the collar. “She’s nearby, and we’re wasting time pretending everything’s fine.”“Because Thorne said we needed to act normal,” Kael replied quietly. “If Veronica’s watching, she can’t suspect..”My body went still. And then..The ballroom vanished.I stood in the middle of a barren plain.. and there, at the center, was Lily. She was bound by ropes glowing with red sigils, her head bowed, her lips cracked.“Lily!” I screamed, trying to run to her, but my legs wouldn’t move. The mist thickened,

Bloodlines and BetrayalsElara’s POVThe air was thick.. not with smoke, but with something heavier, older. No one spoke for a long time.Rowan paced the office like a caged wolf, his hands fisting and unfisting at his sides. Kael sat still, arms folded, eyes locked on Thorne with the calm intensity of someone holding back a storm. And me?I couldn’t stop staring at him.. the man by the window. He looked familiar, hauntingly so.. like a face I’d seen in a dream and forgotten on purpose. Finally, I broke the little silence. “Who are you?” I demanded, the words coming out sharper than I meant. “And how do you know me?”The man turned from the window, lips curving in a faint smile. “An old friend,” he said. His voice was deep and steady. “And Thorne’s ally.”I frowned. “That’s not an answer.”Before I could press further, Thorne’s voice cut through the tension, cool and commanding. “Enough questions for now. You’ll have your answers soon, Elara. But first like I said.. you all need to un

Whispers in the ShadowsElara’s POV“Rowan!!” Kael’s voice echoed through the night. But the night was quiet.Too quiet.Too still. And the moment Kael and I crossed through the academy gates, the air shifted it felt heavy, as if the moon was holding its breath. For some reason, I could smell the iron tang of fear before I even saw him.Rowan stood just beyond the courtyard, half-shadowed beneath the old elm. His shirt was wrinkled, his hands trembling at his sides, his eyes were ringed with red like he hadn’t blinked in hours. One look at him, and the thin string holding my composure snapped.“Ro.. Rowan.. Where’s Lily?” I demanded, as I ran towards him before Kael could even catch my wrist. “Rowan.. where is she? Please.. Tell me you found her!”When he looked up at me, I saw it in his face.. the hollow ache of someone whose world had shattered.“She’s gone, Elara.” His voice was raw, barely human. “I searched everywhere. The dorms are empty as most of the girls went into town for t

“The Vanishing”(Rowan’s POV)“Fuck I dozed off”The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was her.Lily.Her head was resting against my arm, her hair tangled in the evening wind, while her lips parted slightly as she slept. The lake behind her shimmered with the faint glow of moonlight, silver ripples danced across the surface like threads of shattered glass. For a moment, I didn’t move, I just laid there and watched her breathe.A single strand of hair had fallen across her face, I slowly reached out and brushed it away, my thumb grazing her soft cheek.. Her skin was so soft and warm. She stirred at my touch and her eyelids fluttered open as she blinked at me in confusion.“Rowan?” Her voice was sleepy, barely a whisper. “What time is it?”“Late,” I spoke as I glanced at the faint light on my watch. “Really late. If we stay here any longer, you’re going to be dinner for the mosquitoes.”She yawned and sat up, rubbing her eyes. “They wouldn’t dare,” she said, a lazy smile curling

Shadows of the Past Thorne’s POVHer heels echoed through the marble hall before I even saw her.Sharp, precise, and unhurried.. like a metronome ticking down the seconds to chaos.Tara.The moment she stepped into my office, every ounce of air seemed to vanish. Her scent hit first.. Daises and marshmallow’s.. the same scent that had clung to my hands the night the Nightborne villa burned to ashes. I had buried that memory under ten thousand others, but seeing her now, standing in the doorway with her hair braided and her eyes carrying years of silence, was like watching a ghost peel itself out of the past.Malik froze beside me. His face went pale, disbelief painting his every feature.“Tara,” he whispered, his voice cracking. “You.. you're here.. you’re alive?”She smiled, as if resurrection were a small inconvenience. “You sound disappointed.”I stayed quiet, while my fingers curled around the edge of my desk. Part of me wanted to speak, another part was still trapped all those y
