214 The Promise

Kirsch's POV

Under the dim light of dusk, the bonfire was lit in the center of the squire. But what took our attention, was the huge X-shaped wooden stand right beside the flame, and the man tied to it.

Taran.

"How dare you!" Nox bellowed the second she saw Taran, and it took both me AND Willa to contain her before she could shift and dash out.

[Remember why we are here!] I urged, but I was worried as well--

Taran didn't look good.

There were several new cuts on his body, fresh and bleeding. Apparently from another visit right after ours. He didn't rise his head when Nox made the fuss, and I could feel pain, right through our mate mark.

I thought I could trust him with the rest if I get Nox out of here, but now I wasn't so sure he had everything under control anymore.
