"So you are telling me, he's actually part of the Treaty now?!" I turned to Powell with disbelief. The first thing I saw after I went into the meeting room, I couldn't believe --

It was Stone, sitting in the second chair to the chairman of the Treaty.

And something was different about him -- something besides the fact that he got a whole new arm.

Turning his ring in a leisurely way, Stone smirked without looking at me: "I never knew the Treaty treats Alphas so poorly."

"Stone Hayes is our new thirteenth Alpha," Powell turned to me with a sullen look, "pay some due respect, Kirsch."

I frowned at Powell: "Well, you have changed! What got into you?"

Not that I expected Powell to support me for our history's sake, but he had always been disapproval of Stone before this -- well, before the Treaty suddenly turned on Taran.
