Snatch

The door to the kennel hall almost slammed in my face. "Thank you too," I mumbled angrily and pushed it open again myself. Okay, Reese was mad at me, but that was no reason to break my nose by slamming the door in my face.

Since I'd dared to put the gun on his chest, he was just as dismissive of me as he was this morning - maybe even worse.

I mean, what was his problem? I just wanted to talk to Nick. Was he afraid I would fight his brother? Actually, I wasn't that uncertain about Reese. Or maybe it was just because he was a fool, or as Nick had said yesterday, that he liked being in control of everything.

As soon as I had entered the kennel hall, the grunts and growls reached my ears. But the smell was much more overwhelming. Just like on my last visit, it stank of dirt, rot and animals. Didn't the windows open? I would have loved to hold my nose.
