MasukEvander
I walk into my room and begin pacing, I should be satisfied but I am nothing close to that. Seven items needed for the ritual and I have only acquired five, one of it isn't even complete. If only time was on my side, then perhaps I would have counted the arrival of the maiden of the Eclipse, as victory. And why does she smell so familiar? She smells just like her, the girl from the forest. It just can't be her anyway, I had asked Derek to go after her and kill her, after she refused to accept my rejection. I couldn't let anyone ruin my plans of winning Seraphina’s heart. I am an Alpha and should be able to choose my mate. My gaze drifts at the four vials of different labelled alpha blood on my desk and a sealed note beside it. I pause my pace. One of the ingredients needed for the ritual is the blood of five different Alphas and I currently have only four. Surely, I can't even ask my own brother for help, I wouldn't want to give him an opportunity to think less of me. “Alpha Evander,” Derek, my beta, calls as he enters. “Have you gotten a factual summary of what transpired at the Cindersteel Creed?” I ask, not bothering to turn to him. “Perhaps the real reason why the DarkenMoon Pack attacked them.” “Nothing that makes sense, yet….. just a trivial misunderstanding about territory.” “The DarkenMoon Pack and I are allies… or so I thought,” I say, finally turning to him. “What if they know about the curse and they tried killing this Kenna to prevent us from uplifting the curse?” “Permit me to speak freely Alpha,” “Go on.” “I think you're being unnecessarily paranoid…. And even if it were true, they failed, Kenna is in our grasp and will be sacrificed as agreed.” “Yes, except I can't actually send this letter to their alpha…” I say, pointing at the sealed note on my desk. “If… they are a foe in disguise.” “Alpha Seraphina Moondance is dead…..her funeral is in ten days.” “And so is the Alpha Transfer Ritual…. She had a husband, remember…… and I heard she signed the Moonline Matrimonial.” “Then there is only one way to find out if Raze Duskbane intends to maintain the implied alliance between The DarkenMoon Pack and The Moondrift Pack.” Derek says and takes a step forward. Surely, I can't seem to trust that beast. I just dislike him for reasons I can not pinpoint. It simply cannot be because Seraphina's father rejected my marriage proposal three years ago, all because he had already betrothed his dear daughter to his steward. His steward! Yes, my ego was crushed but there should be more to this hatred. To even think I tried to sneak in masked, just have a glimpse of her and tell her, her father's steward isn't the one for her. “Send the letter to him, hear his reply first before concluding anything.” Derek suggests. Poor Derek! He wants this to work more than any other person. His mother, sister and brother were all affected. I pick up the sealed note and extend it to Derek. “Drive to DarkenMoon Pack today.” “Wouldn't you wait for his wife to be put to rest first?” “No… and I expect a reply as soon as possible.” His reply will determine if I would even show face for the funeral. Derek bows and turns to leave. “Also page the high priestess before leaving. I need her to come examine this…. Kenna Starclaw.” “Are you having doubts about her?” He asks, spinning back to me. “Not necessarily doubts…. I need to be certain that it is her that's needed to be sacrificed in the ritual, if there's a mistake then the innocent girl would die for nothing.” He nods and bows. “One more thing Derek…” He raises his head. “On that night you accompanied me to the DarkenMoon Pack,” I say, walking to him. “When you returned from wherever you even went….. I asked you to go after a girl on a white scarf and kill her. Did you?” He stares at me, not saying anything. “Did you?” I ask again, staring into his eyes. He nods, his eyeballs shifting. “I did and I'm very sure I told you that night that I did.” I stare at him for a while before saying, “If you say so.. you may leave.” “Why suddenly bring it up?” He asks. “You may leave.. Derek.” He bows again and departs. There is something about his reply. Yet I cannot doubt him, he wouldn't lie about this. He has never lied to me before. I hear a scream coming from the grand hall, I quickly rush out of my room and back to the grand hall. To my devastating surprise, Sarah lay unconsciously in the arms of Ann, sweating profusely. Tears rush down Ann's face as she stares at me. I look around as I slowly walk to my both sisters. I see a moon mark glowing on Sarah's neck and my heart stops. I grit my teeth, clenching my fists. “Brother, the curse has consumed our sister!!” Ann says. “She is the thirtieth person..” Elder Philip blurts out. Ann exhales, “Oh no!!” My heart begins to beat fast. I step ahead to my seat, avoiding any show of fear. Everyone in the room already knows what this means. If the Eclipse ritual isn't done before thirty days, the thirty people who have been consumed by this curse will die at thirtieth day The worse part of it all is; if we don't break the curse and they all die, another thirty will fall. It will keep happening until there is nobody left in my pack to be consumed by this Eclipse curse. I pierce my palms with my fingers, trying to control the anger brimming in me. Slaughtering the maiden of the Eclipse is a fair price. A death to save everyone. At least, her family has been compensated handsomely, sixty million dollars, two million for each life saved. “Where is Kenna Starclaw?” I ask, staring at the elders. “Where is the Maiden of the Eclipse?” “Already escorted to her bed chambers…” Elder Samson replies. “So she is here already,” Ann says, having a breath of relief.Evander I don't get it. How the hell did she get into my territory? My mind jumps straight to Raze. It's definitely him. Maybe he brought her here, maybe he is trying to hide her from her own people.Fuck! None of this makes any sense.“Was she with someone?” I ask.The girl shakes her head quickly, still bowed.I force a slow breath in, trying to steady the chaos in my chest. Gosh! Kenna is still missing. She could be in real trouble. I cannot afford this distraction right now. I must focus on finding Kenna.“Apart from her,” I continue, voice tighter, “who else came in here in the past thirty minutes?”She is still trembling. “It was only her… I think she is looking for you.”I freeze. “For me?”She nods.I study the raw fear in her eyes and wonder what could make her this terrified. “Calm down and tell me what you know.”She panics instantly. “I know nothing else, I swear!”I don’t believe her, her eyes are contradictory. Something about the way her gaze keeps darting sideways te
Seraphina I stand there for a moment, mind racing through every possible option. Running again will only get me more lost and begging is also useless. I guess I just have to be pragmatic right now.I force a slow breath in, then out, steadying the anger still burning under my skin. Then I force a smile, hoping she believes it.“I can pay you for the information.”Her eyes lift from the screen, studying me with open suspicion, as if testing whether the offer is real.“I’m serious,” I add. “A thousand dollars for the information.”Her gaze slides over me again, this time with clear disgust. The look makes my jaw tighten as she straightens slightly. “You really do seem like there is more to you. Do you have a card with you?”I shake my head. Her expression sours. “So how do you intend to pay?”“I will. Just give me your account details. Once I get there…”“Oh please.” She cuts me off, already reaching into the drawer beneath the counter and pulling out a sleek black device no larger th
Seraphina He turns his head and looks at me like he cannot make sense of anything I just said.“Please.” I say, hoping this time around I can convince him to forget about all this. But he ignores the word completely and presses harder on the accelerator, the engine snarling. My heart starts hammering against my ribs as we get closer to the mall again. I really don't know what to do anymore. The moment he parks, he is already out of the car, opening my door. I stay glued to the seat, arms locked across my chest, not wanting to get down.“Seriously?”“I’m not going in there with you. If you really want to give her the money, then go alone.”His jaw tightens. “Kenna, I’m trying to clear your debt. It’s insulting that you even stole it.”I fold my arms tighter. “What happened was a mistake, but I won’t let that define me. I won’t let her know that the thief who stole from her is Kenna Starclaw.”I wait, hoping the finality in my voice will make him drop it. Instead he scoffs, shakes his
Seraphina My heart slams against my ribs so hard I can barely breathe. I have not seen Cassie since the days before my wedding, only met her once and we connected. She seemed sweet and calm, well I thought the same of her brother, until he planned my death. Now I don't even know where she stands. As much as there is no certainty that she will recognize, I still can't take that risk. She is likely to update her brother about my whereabouts and most importantly, she might call me by my real name in front of Evander.Damn it! I can't let that happen. The moment she steps fully inside I duck behind the nearest rack, heart racing. Evander follows at once, brows drawn together in confusion. “What’s the problem?”I open my mouth but close it instantly, not knowing what to respond.“Kenna…”I swallow hard, thinking of what to say to make him take me out of here at once.“That lady who just walked in… I don’t want her to see me.”He peeks carefully through the hangers, then looks back at me
Seraphina As the car pulls away from the training grounds I keep glancing at his profile, wondering where he could possibly be taking me. He never once looks in my direction, his eyes staying locked on the road, hands steady on the wheel, as if I am not even sitting beside him. This is quite strange. For a few days now, he has been silent on me and now he expects me to trust him as he drives me to goddess knows where. The silence stretches until it begins to bother too much. I can't take it anymore.“Where are we going?”“Is it that hard to trust me?” he answers without glancing over.Realising how pointless it is to demand an answer, I turn my face to the window and begin watching the trees blur past us, the beauty of them doing nothing to quiet the uneasy flutter in my chest. After a while the car slows. To my surprise he stops in front of a large, gleaming mall. He steps out, walks around, and opens my door for me. I only stare at him as he gestures toward the entrance with a
Seraphina I drive every punch and kick harder than the last, sweat stinging my eyes, muscles burning. If pure exhaustion can force my wolf closer to the surface, then I will empty everything I have into this dummy until something finally answers. The need to heal, to survive long enough to take back what is mine, pushes me past the point of careful technique into raw, relentless force. Then, a shift in the air makes me glance sideways. To my astonishment, Evander is standing at the edge of the training ground, watching.I freeze mid-motion, chest heaving. I never expected to find him here, eyes fixed on me like he has never seen me before. He takes a single step forward. “Wow. That’s quite the skill you’ve got there.”I peel the gloves off my hands, voice flatter than I intend. “My father trained me well.”His expression changes, shocked perhaps, then a flicker of something sharper. This is when it dawns on me, I shouldn't have said that. Kenna’s father is not even a warrior and my
Seraphina.“I won't do it!” I say, shaking my head. They stare at each other, eyes wide in shock.“What makes you think you have a choice?” She asks, stopping right before me and staring into my eyes.“I will not stoop so low to take the identity of another…. I am the..” I cut, glancing at them.I
Seraphina Right in my eyes, my soldiers loyal to me begin to die at the hands of those whose loyalty is obviously bought. I freeze on the spot, not knowing what to do. But one thing is certain, I will not let him win this. I howl so loud, reminding them who their alpha is. I feel my eyes glowin
Seraphina His mouth latches onto me fully, sucking gently at first, then with more hunger, his tongue flicking and circling that swollen, sensitive bud. I can’t stop the sounds spilling from me, moans, whimpers, broken pleas that don’t even sound like my voice anymore. The wet heat of his tongue
Seraphina My husband hasn't smiled for the past four days, not even on our wedding night. For years now, I anticipated our wedding night, the day he would finally kiss me and make love to me. I've heard stories about the wedding night, all my maids made it known that it would be the best feeling
