LOGINSeraphina
Right in my eyes, my soldiers loyal to me begin to die at the hands of those whose loyalty is obviously bought. I freeze on the spot, not knowing what to do. But one thing is certain, I will not let him win this. I howl so loud, reminding them who their alpha is. I feel my eyes glowing red as the surviving soldiers turn to me, blocking their ears. They drag their feet towards me, their palms on their ears. I glance at Raze, his eyes are wide in shock, fear emerging out of it as him and his mistress blocks their ears as well. I stop and they all have a sigh of relief. “I am Alpha Seraphina Moondance,” I say, throwing my gaze at my soldiers, ten of them. “The last Moondancer, the only sovereign ruler of the DarkenMoon Pack….” I return my gaze to Raze, desiring to have a glimpse of the disappointment in his eyes. “I order the arrest of Raze Parker, my husband and Alpha Consort….” “You can't do that,” he blurts out, “You love me!” “Raze… what's happening?” The girl asks, standing firm. I scoff, “I did love you Raze.. not anymore.” That was a lie. Looking at his alluring blue eyes still makes me wish all this is a bad dream I will wake up from. I have always adored him, and dedicated all my writing works to his name. And even untill now, all I desire is that he hugs me tightly and whispers that he was under duress or manipulated. For a heartbeat, I let myself drown in those blue eyes. My chest tightens, stupid hope trying to rise even now. Maybe he’ll step forward and explain everything to me. But his jaw twitches. Then his gaze flicks toward the soldiers behind me as he nods. Instantly, a bullet tears through my back and I feel a scorching pain explode through my spine. My breath catches in a strangled gasp and another bullet follows. I whirl around, claws shooting out instinctively, but they didn't stop. They fire again and again. I groan in pain, my legs buckling but I force myself forward. I ran in a direction. “GO AFTER HER!” Raze growls. Quickly, I pick up a gun from a dead body. Spinning, I begin firing, targeting their hearts. Five drop dead. I whimper, feeling the pain of my bullet wounds. I hold myself together and keep running. It's going to take more bullets to kill an alpha. I feel the remaining five rushing towards me and I turn in a direction. Instantly, I smear my palm across the bullet wound on my shoulder and slap it against a tree, then I hurriedly hide in a different direction. I press a hand to my mouth to muffle my breathing, while I apply the mud on my open wounds, hoping it reduces the scent of my blood. The soldiers burst through seconds later and my heart begins to beat faster. I hold my breath. I cannot risk them hearing my heart beat as well. “This is her blood!... She went that way!” I hear one say. They follow the false trail and I have a breath of relief. Their voices fade. Instantly, I begin clutching the dirt, my fingers trembling uncontrollably as the pain grows worse. Tears rush down my cheeks as I breathe heavily. This shouldn't be happening. I am no ordinary werewolf. Unless, their bullets were laced with something that can affect an alpha bloodline. Would Raze really go to such length? Why exactly is he doing all this? My eyelids grow heavy, the world dimming to a faint blur. The cold earth beneath me feels distant, like I’m drifting somewhere far away. My eyes close, my consciousness slipping from my grasp. ****** A sound breaks through my unconsciousness and I wake. Beneath me, I feel hard wood, perhaps, I am laid on a table. I feel people standing around the table, their scents too strong, and for that, I don't open my eyes. I don't know if I should, I don't know if they are loyal to my husband. “Do you think he would know?” A feminine voice asks. “No … I've made the necessary precautions to avoid that.” a deep voice replies. “Then it's settled, Alpha Evander will be here in a jiffy.” Alpha Evander? The Alpha of the Moondrift Pack and the most feared Alpha in all of the ten packs of Lunaris. My heart skips a beat and I fly my eyes open. My breath catches in my throat as the world sharpens into focus. The ceiling above me is lined with streaks of dangling wires. I am obviously in a laboratory. “And she is awake..” the only lady in their midst says, smiling. I gaze at all of them, my heart beating so fast. Their black uniforms are marked with a silver insignia stitched over the chest; a crescent moon entwined with a snake biting its edge. I've seen this insignia before, the men who we attacked their SUVs had this same insignia on their uniform. My heart drops. I am in the territory of the Cindersteel Creed. “Hello dear,” the lady says. “You happened to be the only female we found unconscious at the border…. And luckily for you, we saved your life.” They obviously don't know who I am. If they did, they wouldn't have bothered to save the life of the Alpha who attacked their vehicle and killed their men. Regardless, I am still curious as to why they even bothered to save me. “I still think we should have let her die,” The man on my right hand side says, looking anxious. “This is pointless..” My heart drops, my eyes wider in shock. “And what would we tell Alpha Evander when he comes for Kenna Starclaw?....” The lady asks. Kenna Starclaw? My husband's fated mate? The same one my men died for in pursuit of rescuing her from the Cindersteel Creed? None of this makes any sense to me. I push myself up slightly, and the sharp sting in my arm makes me flinch. My skin still burns where the bullets tore through. To worsen it, there’s a needle still lodged in my vein, connected to a tube that trails toward a blood bag. “We can't start pursuing Kenna, we don't have the time and the resources…… We've already lost a lot in her escape…. Besides, Alpha Evander doesn't know what she looks like, this dying girl we found is the solution to our problem.” The lady continues, not acknowledging me further. They all nod and that makes my heart shatter. I throw my gaze at the door, three figures are standing before it, their backs half-turned to me. I feel like screaming, like fighting my way out but I don't have the strength to. My whole body still aches. “All we ask from you is simple,” One of the men on my left hand side says. “Pretend to be Kenna Starclaw and do whatever Alpha Evander desires from you.” The one adjacent to him, completes his words. My heart begins to race. I should pretend to be Kenna Starclaw, my husband's mistress, the same lady my husband left me to die for. This is ridiculous.Evander I don't get it. How the hell did she get into my territory? My mind jumps straight to Raze. It's definitely him. Maybe he brought her here, maybe he is trying to hide her from her own people.Fuck! None of this makes any sense.“Was she with someone?” I ask.The girl shakes her head quickly, still bowed.I force a slow breath in, trying to steady the chaos in my chest. Gosh! Kenna is still missing. She could be in real trouble. I cannot afford this distraction right now. I must focus on finding Kenna.“Apart from her,” I continue, voice tighter, “who else came in here in the past thirty minutes?”She is still trembling. “It was only her… I think she is looking for you.”I freeze. “For me?”She nods.I study the raw fear in her eyes and wonder what could make her this terrified. “Calm down and tell me what you know.”She panics instantly. “I know nothing else, I swear!”I don’t believe her, her eyes are contradictory. Something about the way her gaze keeps darting sideways te
Seraphina I stand there for a moment, mind racing through every possible option. Running again will only get me more lost and begging is also useless. I guess I just have to be pragmatic right now.I force a slow breath in, then out, steadying the anger still burning under my skin. Then I force a smile, hoping she believes it.“I can pay you for the information.”Her eyes lift from the screen, studying me with open suspicion, as if testing whether the offer is real.“I’m serious,” I add. “A thousand dollars for the information.”Her gaze slides over me again, this time with clear disgust. The look makes my jaw tighten as she straightens slightly. “You really do seem like there is more to you. Do you have a card with you?”I shake my head. Her expression sours. “So how do you intend to pay?”“I will. Just give me your account details. Once I get there…”“Oh please.” She cuts me off, already reaching into the drawer beneath the counter and pulling out a sleek black device no larger th
Seraphina He turns his head and looks at me like he cannot make sense of anything I just said.“Please.” I say, hoping this time around I can convince him to forget about all this. But he ignores the word completely and presses harder on the accelerator, the engine snarling. My heart starts hammering against my ribs as we get closer to the mall again. I really don't know what to do anymore. The moment he parks, he is already out of the car, opening my door. I stay glued to the seat, arms locked across my chest, not wanting to get down.“Seriously?”“I’m not going in there with you. If you really want to give her the money, then go alone.”His jaw tightens. “Kenna, I’m trying to clear your debt. It’s insulting that you even stole it.”I fold my arms tighter. “What happened was a mistake, but I won’t let that define me. I won’t let her know that the thief who stole from her is Kenna Starclaw.”I wait, hoping the finality in my voice will make him drop it. Instead he scoffs, shakes his
Seraphina My heart slams against my ribs so hard I can barely breathe. I have not seen Cassie since the days before my wedding, only met her once and we connected. She seemed sweet and calm, well I thought the same of her brother, until he planned my death. Now I don't even know where she stands. As much as there is no certainty that she will recognize, I still can't take that risk. She is likely to update her brother about my whereabouts and most importantly, she might call me by my real name in front of Evander.Damn it! I can't let that happen. The moment she steps fully inside I duck behind the nearest rack, heart racing. Evander follows at once, brows drawn together in confusion. “What’s the problem?”I open my mouth but close it instantly, not knowing what to respond.“Kenna…”I swallow hard, thinking of what to say to make him take me out of here at once.“That lady who just walked in… I don’t want her to see me.”He peeks carefully through the hangers, then looks back at me
Seraphina As the car pulls away from the training grounds I keep glancing at his profile, wondering where he could possibly be taking me. He never once looks in my direction, his eyes staying locked on the road, hands steady on the wheel, as if I am not even sitting beside him. This is quite strange. For a few days now, he has been silent on me and now he expects me to trust him as he drives me to goddess knows where. The silence stretches until it begins to bother too much. I can't take it anymore.“Where are we going?”“Is it that hard to trust me?” he answers without glancing over.Realising how pointless it is to demand an answer, I turn my face to the window and begin watching the trees blur past us, the beauty of them doing nothing to quiet the uneasy flutter in my chest. After a while the car slows. To my surprise he stops in front of a large, gleaming mall. He steps out, walks around, and opens my door for me. I only stare at him as he gestures toward the entrance with a
Seraphina I drive every punch and kick harder than the last, sweat stinging my eyes, muscles burning. If pure exhaustion can force my wolf closer to the surface, then I will empty everything I have into this dummy until something finally answers. The need to heal, to survive long enough to take back what is mine, pushes me past the point of careful technique into raw, relentless force. Then, a shift in the air makes me glance sideways. To my astonishment, Evander is standing at the edge of the training ground, watching.I freeze mid-motion, chest heaving. I never expected to find him here, eyes fixed on me like he has never seen me before. He takes a single step forward. “Wow. That’s quite the skill you’ve got there.”I peel the gloves off my hands, voice flatter than I intend. “My father trained me well.”His expression changes, shocked perhaps, then a flicker of something sharper. This is when it dawns on me, I shouldn't have said that. Kenna’s father is not even a warrior and my
Seraphina.“I won't do it!” I say, shaking my head. They stare at each other, eyes wide in shock.“What makes you think you have a choice?” She asks, stopping right before me and staring into my eyes.“I will not stoop so low to take the identity of another…. I am the..” I cut, glancing at them.I
Seraphina My whole body trembles, my brows are furrowed. He suddenly looks different from the man I fell in love with three years ago. The man I grew up knowing to be the only person I can trust apart from my father. He takes a deep breath. “You don't have to make this difficult for me...” “I… I
Seraphina My husband hasn't smiled for the past four days, not even on our wedding night. For years now, I anticipated our wedding night, the day he would finally kiss me and make love to me. I've heard stories about the wedding night, all my maids made it known that it would be the best feeling
Seraphina His mouth latches onto me fully, sucking gently at first, then with more hunger, his tongue flicking and circling that swollen, sensitive bud. I can’t stop the sounds spilling from me, moans, whimpers, broken pleas that don’t even sound like my voice anymore. The wet heat of his tongue
