I pace the distance of the room, unable to accept this to be my fate. I should find a way out of this. I halt, gazing at the moon mark on my wrist. My throat tightens. Could this mark be what is sealing the chip in me? My fingers hover over it. What if I can dig it out? And finally be able to tell Alpha Evander that I am not this maiden of Eclipse. I drag in a shaky breath. But my claws aren't responding anymore. The door bursts open. I turn towards the door, my hands dropping to my sides. A young lady steps in, blonde like Alpha Evander, same amber eyes. No doubt related to him. Her eyes remain on me as she steps closer, majestically. “I’m Ann,” she says calmly. “Alpha Evander’s sister.” Before I can respond, she closes the distance between us and takes my hand. I stiffen as she lifts my hand to her lips and presses a light kiss against my knuckles. That's weird. Is that the custom of the members of the Moondrift Pack? “It is an honour to finally meet you.” she says, smiling. My brows pull together, “an honour?” I repeat. She moves past me and I feel her presence behind me. “It’s not every day you meet the saviour of your people.” My head snaps toward her, my brows knitting together. “I understand how you feel,” she says, folding her hands behind her back. “And I can promise you… you’ll be treated like a queen in your short time here.” My heart stutters. Short time? “I don’t understand,” I say, my voice tightening. “Are you planning to ship me off somewhere else?” She raises an eyebrow. “Do you not know why you’re here?” she asks, the disbelief now clear in her tone. “Did your parents not tell you?” Now, I must thread carefully. So Kenna's parents are aware of this transaction and they have approved of it. Kenna must have been aware of her parents' involvement for her to plan an escape with my husband. My husband! But if I'm going to have anything close to clarity over this, I must act unaware. Slowly, I shake my head, hoping my cover doesn't get blown. At least, till I find a way to get this chip out of me. She takes a step back, eyes widening slightly. “Oh, goddess…” she murmurs. “They were supposed to prepare you for this.” My patience snaps. “Well, they didn’t,” I say, staring into her eyes. “So are you going to tell me or not?” Her expression changes like I have triggered her. She steps forward and lifts up my chin. “What a sharp tongue you have there,” she says, glaring into my eyes. “Abusing your privilege already...” I yank her hand away from my chin. I was told to pretend to be Kenna Starclaw, not tolerate rude manners. “If you’re not going to say what needs to be said,” I snap, “then you might as well leave.” There is a moment of silence as she smiles. She takes a slow step back. “Well,” she says calmly, “I don’t see any reason to play nice anymore.” A chill runs down my spine, like I'm already expecting the worst from her. “You’re going to die after all.” My heart drops. “What..?” She steps closer, folding her arms across her chest. “Yes,” she says quietly. “That’s the part your dear parents couldn’t tell you.” My heart begins to pound. Did the Cindersteel Creed really send me here to die in place of my husband's fated mate? She moves beside me, her lips brushing near my ear. And then she whispers, “your own parents sold you to die.” She pauses as my heart rate increases. “So whether you marry my brother or not…” she continues softly, “It doesn’t quite change anything.” I throw my gaze at her, eyes wide in shock. The Cindersteel Creed also didn't mention anything about marriage. A knock cuts through the moment and she walks to the door like she didn't just drop a bomb shell on me. Opening the door, a maid bows. “The High Priestess is here to examine the Maiden of the Eclipse.” the maid announces. My blood runs cold. But on a second thought, a High Priestess should be able to tell that I'm not this Maiden of Eclipse. So whether I am found out or not, I'm likely to die. My better option should be the high Priestess revealing the truth. Hopefully, I will be sent back home. “Take me to her.” I say to the maid. Ann smiles but I ignore her, following the lead of the maid. ***** The doors ahead are already open. I walk in, Ann fastening her pace behind me. Alpha Evander stands near the center of the chamber and the High Priestess stands beside him, draped in flowing ash robes, her silver-streaked hair cascading down her back, symbols etched on her arms. I halt a few paces from them, my feet trembling beneath me. As much as I hope she can tell that I'm not this Kenna Starclaw, I'm actually scared of the outcome. “Come forward child…” she says I take a deep breath and match forward. Alpha Evander stares at me with so much uncertainty in his eyes. It only begs the question, why does he even want Kenna dead? Of what use is the maiden of eclipse’s death to him? I stop in front of her, my pulse hammering against my ribs. She begins circling me slowly. Then her hand lifts, pressing against my wrist, right over the moon mark. A sharp sting shoots up my arm and I flinch. Her eyes narrow slightly, then she moves her hand to my chest, right above my heart. My breath catches. “Well?” Evander’s voice cuts in, his impatience so obvious. “Is she really the Maiden of the Eclipse?” The High Priestess doesn’t answer immediately. Yet, my heart begins pounding. She lifts up my chin, staring into my eyes. Her grip tightens slightly and surprisingly, her expression changes.Seraphina His mouth latches onto me fully, sucking gently at first, then with more hunger, his tongue flicking and circling that swollen, sensitive bud. I can’t stop the sounds spilling from me, moans, whimpers, broken pleas that don’t even sound like my voice anymore. The wet heat of his tongue, the gentle scrape of his teeth, the way he groans against my flesh as if he’s savoring me… it’s too much.My hips buck against his face shamelessly, chasing more, needing more.Pleasure coils tighter and tighter inside me, my fingers fisting tighter in his hair, pulling him closer as my back arches off the wall. “Evander…oh Goddess, please… don't stop.” The words dissolve into a cry as he sucks harder, his tongue working faster. The orgasm rips through me even more violently than the first, tearing a loud, shuddering moan from my throat. My whole body convulses, waves of ecstasy crashing over me again and again until I’m trembling, gasping, nearly sobbing from the intensity.Gosh!! I am
Seraphina A trembling breath escapes me instantly, my body stupidly reacting in ways I never knew about, my hips twitching slightly toward his touch. This feels nothing like before. No man has ever touched me this way before. Not even my actual husband, Raze.Evander watches my face carefully as his fingers move again and another helpless sound slips from my throat, heat flooding between my legs embarrassingly fast. His thumb brushes gently against a sensitive spot and my entire body jerks. I grab his wrist to be certain he doesn't pull his hand away. His breathing roughens slightly, then suddenly he pulls his hand away completely, despite my grip.I stare at him in shock. “Why did you stop?”He takes a deep breath. “Just lie down and open your legs. I’ll fuck you and let my wolf reach yours.”Disappointment hits me so fast it surprises even me. “But…” I hesitate. “I liked what you were doing.”The silence afterward is deafening. I immediately realize what I just admitted and my face
Seraphina I should make up my mind right now. The only way to be strong enough to get out of here and go back home is by healing my wolf and the faster means of healing my wolf is bonding with another alpha.Despite my decision, my fingers tremble slightly against the silk belt of my nightrobe as I stand frozen near the edge of this massive bedroom. The room is dim except for the golden lamp near the bed, casting shadows against the dark walls. My throat tightens as I watch him, standing near his wardrobe wearing nothing but a black robe loosely tied around his waist, exposing part of his chest every time he moves. My eyes betray me instantly, drifting there again. Goddess! His chest is broad and so firm and the hairs in there kinda makes something strange flutter low inside my stomach.I don't know but this is strange. I shouldn't be feeling this way towards a man I barely know. Damn it! Why am I even still staring at his chest hair?I quickly look away, only for my gaze to drift r
Seraphina I stand still, my spine straight, my hands tightening slightly around the folds of my gown. I don't know what to do, should I run?I take a deep breath as she approaches, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. Her gaze drifts over me then she halts, staring at my face through the veil. Her hand lifts to touch my veil. Instinctively, I catch her wrist before her fingers can brush the fabric. For a moment, neither of us moves. Then I lift my chin slightly, meeting her gaze through the thin veil that separates us.She stares directly into my eyes, my heart pounding. Her lips curve. “You must be a fool to think I do not know that you are not my daughter.”The words hit like a blade. So she is aware all along, I'm guessing the father is as well. They both know their daughter is safe and won't die, they probably also know where she is. With my husband! My grip loosens instantly, letting go of her hand as I step back, still in shock.“Don’t ruin this for us,” she co
Seraphina Instantly, the man beside the door steps forward, offering his arm.If he is really Kenna's father, would he not notice that I'm not her?I have to keep my face hidden beneath this veil, not letting him get a glimpse of my face. I'm guessing the Cindersteel Creed didn't think this part through or were they expecting that I also pretend in front of her parents?Damn it!The moment I heal and get my wolf, I'm getting out of this cruel predicament.I place my hand in his and we begin to walk, the door opening wider. The entire hall rises. I mean the ten invited guests. To my surprise, they pull out their cameras and begin taking shots. They weren't even guests, they were media personalities, to spread the word that Kenna Starclaw is marrying Alpha Evander! My heart begins beating fast. Raze must not know that I'm one replacing Kenna. He mustn't know that I survived.Quickly, I face the floor as we move forward. The man says nothing to me which is quite surprising. Does he have
Seraphina My silk wedding dress cascades down my body, hugging every curve of mine. My hair falls in soft waves over my shoulders, my veil pinned just enough to look effortlessly bridal. It's my wedding day again.“Hold still, my lady,” the same maid I had attacked yesterday murmurs behind me, her fingers tugging the corset tighter.I can't pinpoint exactly why Ann had to send her in particular.Regardless, my gaze is locked on the mirror. I keep staring at my reddened lips, it is the same colour of lipstick I had chosen on my last wedding.Quite the irony. I thought it was going to be the best day of my life. I was so happy to marry Raze. I still remember how I kept smiling, glancing at him to smile back but he never did. Now, barely ten days later, I am here, putting on a wedding dress again. All to marry a total stranger and die afterwards, if I must add.A shaky breath escapes me as she pulls the laces again, the sudden pressure dragging me out of my thoughts.“Done,” she says s
