VALERIE
My lips parted yet no words came forth. I was short of words, I was confused. I wanted to speak up for my defense, but I couldn't; it felt like Alpha Jonas's words had paralyzed me. “So, you are his Luna, after all,” Killian said, a mischievous smirk dancing at the corner of his little plump lips. Lucian remained unmoved as he glared coldly at me. “Why did you say you weren't?” He muttered in the iciest voice that I've ever heard. The hoarseness was somehow gone, its absence added fear instead of relief to my soul. “I… I,…” I stammered and glared at Alpha Jonas, hoping he would have a change of heart and tell them who his real Luna was. But the useless devil did nothing of such, instead he pursed his lips in anger and shook his finger accusingly at me. “You lied to them? You told them you weren't the Luna. How shameless can you be, Valerie?” He snapped, calling me by my name. My eyes batted in shock, I was petrified in wonder that I was dumbstruck. The two men stared from me to Alpha Jonas who kept insisting that I betrayed him and the Pack. “Alpha," he said, looking at the two men. “You can take her. I won't bother you about my mate for a day," he added and my eyes widened. “But–" “You still want to deny it?" He snapped, cutting me off as he glared murderously at me. I smacked my lips together and glanced over at Killian and Lucian. The two men were cold and unreadable, which made it hard to decipher what was going on in their minds. “What a dishonest and selfish Luna you have, Jonas," Killian chuckled and saw a satisfied smirk tug on Alpha Jonas's face. “I wish the Moon goddess never gave me this girl as a mate," he spat and a sparkle formed in their eyes. “I wonder what is so good about that goddess; she does nothing good," Lucian groused, and Killian nodded in support. My heart tightened at their words. That's blasphemy, how can they be left alive in the wolf kingdom? “Yes, you're right," Alpha Jonas quickly replied, and I threw him a glare, which he returned immediately. “We'll take her in exchange for your Pack," Lucian said and glanced over to Killian. I guess they mind-linked and decided to take me away. A large grin broke out on Alpha Jonas's face and he bowed his head to the ground, the way my stepfather did when he met Alpha Jonas. Killian walked towards me and I felt my heart freeze. I cringed back and hugged my body tighter, shaking my head as my teeth chattered. “Little Val, look up," his soft soothing voice made me peek at his face. He flashed a warm smile and I felt my heart melt. "Are you cold?" He muttered and I couldn't help but nod. The way he talked, looked at me, and even the chilling feeling his touch gave me made me think over the idea of leaving this wretched place with them. He might heed my request and let me go. He pulled off his thick dark jacket and wrapped it around me. It was huger than I thought and it helped in covering up my nudity. “Thank you," I muttered and he nodded, stretching his small plump lips into an enchanting smile. My heart leaped and I hid my face to prevent him from seeing my flushed face. “Get on with it quick!" Lucian groused, scowling at us in disgust. It seems like he wasn't any different from Alpha Jonas. But then I wondered, who was the Alpha between the both of them. I thought it was Lucian but when Killian didn't respond quickly to his order, I knew something was off about them. Thinking of Alpha Jonas's equal respect for both of them backed up my first thought. Who was the Alpha? My eyes darted from one to another but lingered longer on Killian's face. I wondered what I should call him. Killian? Or Alpha Killian? I sighed at the thought and glanced disdainfully at Alpha Jonas before getting up and holding the jacket tightly. I began to walk to the door but stopped and looked at him again, but my eyes flickered to Lucian's face, and I found his eyes staring keenly at my ass. My body heated up and my belly fluttered. I tugged on the edge of the jacket, pulling it down. He snapped his cold eyes at my face, knowing fully well that he had been caught. I was grateful that it was long enough to cover my bare ass. “Thank you for your mercy and kindness, Alphas!" Alpha Jonas bellowed and bowed his head to the ground again. Alphas? Both of them were Alphas. I snickered at him, chuckling, mockingly. Killian raised his brows, and Lucian snapped his head in my direction; Alpha Jonas tilted his head, glaring murderously at me. “It seems like you were a bad Alpha to your mate," Lucian said and raised his hand, stopping Alpha Jonas from defending himself. “Let's go," Killian said and held my hand, leading me out of the room. Everything happened so fast but I knew I saw him crank his head backwards and nod towards Alpha Lucian. I heard the slicing of a knife on some flesh and a loud howl; a thud followed after that, and then silence. Killian's hold on my wrist tightened and his pace quickened. My heart thumped loudly and my wolf, Jade, screamed that something was wrong in there. “Wait," I whispered, and Killian looked down at me, and my heart skipped a beat. The warmth in his mesmerizing ocean-blue eyes was gone. It was replaced by coldness, the same coldness dancing around Lucian's eyes. “What?" He snapped and a shiver rushed down my spine. His voice was still soft but no longer assiduous and soothing like before. “Alpha Jonas…" “You mean your mate?" He groused, darkness dancing around his eyes. I gulped hard, finding it hard to breathe. “Is he dead?" I managed to sputter out. He scoffed, narrowing his eyes at me. “Why? I thought you never cared about him?" He muttered and my heart twitched. Of course, I don't care about him but I never wished for him to die, did I? I parted my lips to reply but Lucian's sudden presence shut me up. He stopped walking and stared at me, then at Killian, whose eyes were fixed on him too. “He must be dumb to think that we'll have mercy on him," Killian said in an icy voice, and my eyes widened in dismay. I scanned Lucian's shirt which was covered with fresh blood that must have belonged to Alpha Jonas. They killed him, they heartlessly killed him! “Mercy?" Lucian scoffed and walked into our midst. Killian looked at me, his eyes full of hostility. “Now you have understood what has happened to your mate, right?" His venom-filled voice muttered, and I shuddered, unable to speak. The both of them leaned closer at the same time, and I found my numb feet desperately moving back. “You are going to pay for the rest of his sins," Lucian muttered and my heart constricted. “As our sex slave," Killian added and grinned sinisterly. My belly knotted and my pupils dilated. Sex slave? The same thing that I'd been running from. I burst into silent tears as Killian shoved me forward. I kept crying silently till we stepped out of the tunnel and into a large field. My belly knotted and I felt puke rise in my throat as I stared horrified at the dead bodies littered around the field. The soft green grasses were now mixed with blood that greased the beautiful field and made it a horrifying sight. I clasped my hand against my mouth, trying to stop the puke that threatened to pour from my mouth. I needed to get away from them, I wanted to disappear, I wanted to… I dropped to the ground and opened my mouth, letting the puke out. Their comfortable footsteps stopped and they looked at me. “Get up, you're wasting time!" Lucian snapped in his terrifying voice. I gasped out and looked around the field, tears gathering up in my eyes. Did they kill these people all by themselves? Did they come all alone and slaughter all these innocent werewolves? It dawned on me that these men, whom I thought were saviors, were worse than Alpha Jonas. I raised my head, peering at them with rheumy eyes. “Please, I need to urinate, please," I pleaded. The both of them glanced at each other and sighed. “Go over there and do it quickly! Meet us at the garage as fast as possible!" Lucian spat in his hoarse voice and began to trudge off. “Don't keep us waiting, little Val," Killian whistled and joined Lucian. I scowled at their receding figures then spun around and walked far off to the end of the field. Just like my pack, I was sure there'd be a way out through the field. Just like I predicted, I got to a high wall that possibly led out of the Pack. I ran back to the piles of bodies as fast as possible and dragged off two bodies, panting heavily. By the time I reached the wall, my body was covered in perspiration. I dropped the body on the other and stepped on it, making it easier to climb over the wall. I bit my lips, trying hard not to glance at the bodies I was standing on. I swung my feet over the fence and cautiously went over to the other side. I took a deep breath, shut my eyes, and slipped off. Pain shot through my body when I hit the hard ground. I stuck my fist into my mouth to prevent me from screaming out in pain. A tear slipped out of my eyes as I staggered to my feet and limped forward. I didn't care about the pain throbbing all over my body. All I could see at the moment was the uncertain future that awaited me from this place.VALERIE The silence that fell in the hall made me fear that I had said something wrong. “Hail the Luna!” A shout broke from one of the elders, and the guests chanted after him, filling the hall with a loud ovation. I sighed in relief and smiled when the elder smiled and bowed to me. I reached for the seal and grabbed it, then raised it for everyone to behold. The chants got louder, and the music began to play. I grinned widely and rushed towards Arlene and Adriana. I didn’t hesitate to pull them into my arms, and they didn’t hesitate to return the hug. I pulled away and stroked their hair, tears lurking in my eyes. “I am sorry that I wasn’t there,” I whispered. “You were there. Thank you for taking revenge for my mother by ending Michelle,” Adriana muttered, and I chuckled, hoping the tears wouldn’t flow out. I looked up and saw Bianca, leaning on a pillar, her eyes fixed on me with tears in them. "Let's talk later, hmm?" I said to Adriana and Arlene before taking
VALERIE GARRETT The large oak doors pulled open, and I took slow, calculated steps into the hall, scanning the unsmiling faces of everyone through the veil that concealed my face. The rest of the light came on when I descended the stairs. My eyes searched for Adriana and Arlene, and I felt my heart warm up when I found them, standing among guests, their faces hardened and their eyes glaring with pure hatred.I guessed that they thought I was someone else. Someone who wasn’t Valerie Garrett. My eyes shifted towards Lucian and Killian, and my lips stretched into a smirk. Their eyes held happiness and impatience, despite sacrificing what they valued the most to save me from the lordess of destruction, they didn’t seem to care. The only thing that mattered to them was me. Perhaps, they deserved redemption after all. After staying with Tenebris and my mother, I realized that, truly, I had no regret whatsoever. The only regret I might have is losing the Luna Queen. Every moment that passed
LUCIAN The smile on my face fell and my eyes widened at the awful sight before me. "Salvador!" I growled, clenched my fist. I heard a gasp from Adriana and she whisked out of Salvador's arms, breathing heavily with widened eyes full of horror. "Brother!" She exclaimed in shock and looked up at Salvador, who stood beside her. My fist clenched and I looked at Salvador, directing a hateful glare at him. His gaze raised in my direction and he stared blankly at me with no emotion in his eyes. "I wasn't planning to hurt your sister," he mumbled calmly, showing no fear or remorse. I scoffed loudly and shifted my glare to Adriana. "Get the fuck out!" I snapped. She bowed and rushed out of the room with her head down in embarrassment. "Bastard!" I growled the moment the door behind me slammed shut.I rushed towards him and didn't think twice before hitting him on his face.Salvador staggered back, his hand wiping the blood that dripped from his nose. "You are misunderstanding it all
ADRIANA I couldn’t stop fidgeting in my seat despite the multiple warnings from the makeup artist. The anger burning in me seemed unquenchable, and the only way that I could calm myself down was by doing what I was doing, which in turn was frustrating the artist. Just when I thought I could deal with the anger of getting pushed by my brothers for Salvador, a soul-wrenching announcement later that night added fuel to the fire that was already burning in me.I wondered what made them want to quickly replace Valerie and my mother. Was this why they went on a mysterious journey no one, aside from Salvador, knew about?Knowing how crazy my brothers were for Valerie, I doubted if they were getting a new Luna on their own free will.“Hold on, my lady,” The makeup artist beside me said, and I jerked back to reality, then huffed loudly.I looked at my face in the mirror and huffed again, narrowing my eyes.“If you don’t like it, I can...”“I do not like it!” I snapped, and the woman flinched,
SALVADORThe moment I turned off the car’s ignition, the brat flew out of the car and rushed towards the garage’s exit.I scoffed and grabbed the wasted shirt on the backseat, then tied a scarf around my neck before heading out of the garage. I stepped out of the garage and dumped the gory shirt into a trash can. The people standing close by widened their eyes in horror and kept their eyes on me while whispering amongst themselves, but I didn't care.Despite how fast she walked, I still overtook her with just a few paces. She stopped walking and spun around, staring at me with surprise lurking around her eyes.“How did you get here so soon?” she asked. I looked at her and shrugged, that smirk that pisses her off stuck on my face.“Acting like you don’t know what I am,” I scoffed. She cursed under her breath and narrowed her eyes before heading up the stairs.I chuckled and trailed after her to Lucian and Killian Nox’s study. I found her standing like a confused child when I reached th
ADRIANA Salvador stepped out, slammed the door shut, and trudged towards the large man with the axe swinging in his left hand.Salvador muttered something to him and the man smirked evilly.“I was told by an insider that you lost the throne to one of your father’s illegitimate sons. It must be a shame, isn’t it?” the man said, and my jaw dropped.“You have no one to protect you now, your father has rejected you for choosing the wolves over your people,” the man added.Salvador slowly glanced back, his cold gaze that fell on me sent chills rushing through my veins. He turned and looked at the man, his hand gripping the axe.“Let’s end it then,” he muttered and took a step back. The sinister smirk on the man’s face fell, and he scoffed loudly, then turned towards the men behind him and nodded his head.My heart leaped as the men surrounding him rushed towards him with raised axes and loud grunts. Salvador grabbed the first man and flipped him around, sending his ass to one of the cars.
