THE BEGINNING – (THE ISLAND)

Dimitri was just 10 years old when her whole fantasy turned into a stuffy space, and it got even stuffier as she grew older.

She was the only child of her parents, so her trainings were both masculine and feminine.

Her parents, ‘the Saws’ were the pillars of the island, and they had held every single corner of the island so firmly that no Evil could arise either from within or beyond.

The island was a sanctuary for humans, but in little Dimitri’s head it was just a home. No child her age or below knew what was beyond the waters that surrounded them.

“Dimitri Saw!” Aileen, her mother called out.

“Mom,” Dimitri jerked up from bed immediately, she had been caught sleeping again.

“It is time for your training and you ran off to sleep again? Do you know how much you need to train to be perfect?” Aileen lectured her as she always did.

She always wished she had another child so Dimitri wouldn’t feel burdened, but she was not blessed with another, so she had to protect the only one she had. And how else can one protect their child if not teaching her how to protect herself?

“I am so tired and sleepy.” Dimitri mumbled as she rubbed her eyes with a sulky look on her face.

She barely gets enough sleep, she didn’t even know why she has to go through such intense trainings when it always drains her.

“The time is fast coming, so you have to be prepared.” Aileen pulled her up, off from the bed.

“Time? Prepared for what, mom?” Dimitri was clueless about the whole statement.

“Quiet! Wash your face quickly and rush down to the training square before your father notices your absence.” Aileen told her daughter, but Dimitri remained on a spot unmoving.

“Did you not hear me just now, young lady?” She held herself back from sounding stern.

Dimitri pouted sadly, holding back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes. The last time she had enough sleep was on the night before her 10th birthday.

“Can I not just sleep for today?” She pleaded. She was really feeling sleepy and tired still.

“You go to the training square at once young lady. After that, you come and learn your stitches. You are a Saw and the heir to the Island.” Aileen reminded her as she always does in moments like this.

Dimitri’s heart ached as she felt like crying, she always heard the same words over and over again.

‘You are a Saw and heir to the Island’

Doesn’t Saws or Heirs sleep? She wished they did.

“Yes, mom,” she replied sadly and went ahead to wash her face then headed to the training square.

Aileen watched her daughter leave, “One day, you will understand that all I do, I do for your safety.” She said under her breath.

She sighed out and went ahead to the kitchen to prepare their food.

"Dimitri!" Festus called out to her.

Dimitri paid no attention to him; she kept walking head on towards the training square.

"You always ignore me," Festus frowned while watching her figure from a little distance.

Dimitri paused in her steps. She turned back to look at him with a scowl on her face."I don't ignore you, you are always on a bad timing."

He just always looks for her at a bad time. Just like now, she wasn't in the mood to talk.

Festus face lightened up when he heard her reply him, he knew she would stop, she always did.

"We are best friends anyway so it should be a good thing, right?" He smiled as he got closer to where she was standing.

Dimitri rolled her eyes as she kept on walking.

Festus was persistent, "But it is true though. I mean, it's like your mind calls out to me when you are having a bad time and I just appear and make it go away like an—" he got cut short when Moko's voice sounded above their heads like a drum.

"You are late!" Moko scolded.

Dimitri felt her chest tighten. She was always scared of her father. "I apologise father," she replied immediately and went to the front circle where she always positioned herself.

Festus was usually a blabber mouth, but he always stood like a soldier awaiting command in situations like this any time he was around Moko.

He became still till Dimitri nudged him.

The training square was alarge open field where soldiers and most interested children came to learn combat.

It was a large square with medium sized circles sketched in the middle to accommodate a lot of people.

"What are you doing there?" Moko lashed at Dimitri.

Dimitri looked up at him. "I ... I..." she could not find her words, she never did. Not when she was up against her father.

"Go for your laps now!" Moko thundered like he was addressing a soldier.

Dimitri had done the morning laps very early in the morning already but her little heart almost burst out in fear; she couldn't say so.

"Ye ... yes, father," she did not wait to be told twice, she took to her heels instantly.

Festus was about to join her, but Moko halted him.

"Attention, soldier! Were you asked to leave the grounds?"

"No, sir." Festus shivered and went back to his circle.

If he looked in a little distance he could see Dimitri's figure jogging, with her violet hair blessed with coloured strands of silver flowing with the wind, she was always eye catching.

He knew she was already tearing up by now, she always cried when her father raised his voice at her.

The only reason he joined the combat training was because he wanted to accompany her.Asides him, she was the youngest person in the training square, the rest were 16 years and above but she was still tasked to train harder.

He really felt sorry for his best friend.

"Boy!" Moko commanded Festus’ attention back to the training grounds.

"If you prefer to be elsewhere then leave, but make sure you don't ever come back to the square," he looked down at Festus.

Festus had to gulp down hard to avoid peeing in his pants.

Moko was a handsome, tall and well-built chocolate skinned man. He was a disciplinarian, but Festus just saw him as a big bully.

"Yes, sir," he whispered out in fear.

"Speak up, boy!" Moko thundered.

"Yes, sir!" Festus said more audibly.

Moko left him to continue his commands.

Jolly and Jen walked towards Krisen’s room cautiously, neither of them wanted to be shouted at nor leave him be after what happened at the moon meal. “You knock,” Jolly urged Jen as she stepped to the side; away from the door. Jen pouted in grievance as she argued, “Why do I have to be the one to knock? You are the bravest between us two. You should knock.” She pulled Jolly forward to stand in front of the door as she replaced her in her position beside the door. She raised both her thumbs into the air as she stretched out an encouraging smile on her lips, “You can do this!” Jolly rolled her eyes, she breathed out heavily before raising her hand to knock on the door, but the door was pulled open from the inside before her knuckles could reach the door. Her eyes bulged as she saw Krisen standing in front of the open space with a light frown on his face. Jen stood frozen by the side as she pressed her body further into the wall; wishing she could immerse herself into it. Jolly b

Elena stood in front of the training ground with her arms folded in front of her chest; her face strained. Hera stood beside her with a puzzled expression, “What are you on about, Elena?” she turned her head towards her. “Nothing I can’t handle.” Elena responded grimly as her gaze remained focused on the entrance of the training ground. “It’s about that dirt, right? I heard she is an angel.” Hera sated with sheer disgust. “Does this mean she won’t face any punishments? It’s her fault that we have to train endlessly these past suns. I hate her.” Just as they were still speaking, Dimitri walked into the training grounds with Suban following behind with a blank look on his face. “Speaking of thedirt, here she comes.” Hera ridiculed as she glared daggers at Dimitri. “How does she make Suban follow her like a loyal dog, she is definitely doing something to make him so blind.” Dimitri watched as Elena walked towards her, she closed her eyes and let out a tired breath, “Goddess, I hav

The fog filled forest had darkened more than normal as the looming presence remained like a whisper in the air. Dimitri was even more certain that she wasn’t imagining things, “William, is that you?” she demanded into the air but no response was given. Her eyes roamed around, “I don’t know what you think you are trying to achieve by acting like a coward. You better show yourself this instant.” Her eyes burned with repulse as she thought about a million things to do to him when he finally shows up. A dangerous chill crawled through her skin when the faint moon light casted a shadow in front of her. Someone was standing behind her. She clenched her jaw hard as she calculated her steps and actions precisely, and with one swift turn, she launched her fist; aiming towards the figure. Her brows knotted in confusion as her eyes showed disbelief, “Suban?” she called out with uncertainty as she stopped her fist in time. Dimitri’s fist remained mid-air as she scanned through the figure

Krisen and Dimitri walked through the fog filled forest in silence with both their faces maintaining a blank expression. They looked like strangers who just happened to be walking on the same path. Dimitri glanced at Krisen from the corner of her eyes several times like she wanted to say something but she didn’t actually say it. Krisen let out a breath through his mouth, “What is it?” he demanded as he turned to face her; trapping her under his gaze. Dimitri stopped walking and also turned to meet his gaze squarely, “Nothing,” she responded blankly. A frown pulled down at the side of Krisen’s lips, “Are you going to speak out or not?” he took a step towards her as his gaze displayed a warning. Dimitri narrowed her eyes on him, “What is with you and always trying to intimidate me? If you know just who I am, you wouldn’t even dream of doing this.” She reprimanded; feeling vexed about his behaviour. Why can’t he speak without openly trying to force someone? “It seems yo

Suban was a panting mess by the time he reached the Wizard’s cave. He ran into the cave like he was expecting some kind of welcome. “I did what you asked, now give it back,” he demanded as his chest rose and fell trying to stabilize his breathing. The wizard snickered in a low tone as he watched Suban from the shadows. He had simply played a joke when he saw Suban wasn’t taking him seriously. Who knew he would actually make him feel so panicked. He looked at the amulet in his hand. He had picked it up after Suban left at that time and decided to keep it as a way to connect to him. These past moons, he was able to freely enter Suban’s dreams and torment him; making him particularly restless and paranoid. “Leave, you won’t gain anything by coming here and making so much noise.” The wizard informed nonchalantly as he enjoyed the look of torment on Suban’s face. Suban tightened his hand into a fist as he gritted his teeth against each other. “Show yourself,” he bellowed as his eye

  • Lycanthrope; Dimitri's Vengeance   Chapter 85 The Demon's Lair

The damp realization on the faces of Luna Carmen and Alpha Ronnie were unmatched as they walked into the cave. Their eyes roamed around it as they noticed the obvious changes. Unlike the edgy surfaces they had known the cave to have, it had stones that were finely curved and positioned in different corners. Even the aura was different. “I think this is their lair,” Krisen dropped as his narrowed eyes stuck on a stone seat fixated exactly in the middle of the cave, and a few meters in front of it was the deep hole that had been created when the seal broke. It was obvious that the seat was going to be for their leader. Luna Carmen closed her eyes as she took in a series of breaths to calm herself down and actually let their present reality sink in. “This is all your doing! Tell me.... did the demon drag you here again?” Alpha Ronnie barked out fiercely as his glared at Dimitri; his face was red and his eyes were dangerously flickering. Dimitri stood still; staring at the grou
