(Serena's POV)Late on a Tuesday night, Marcus walked into my room like nothing had happened. Had he forgotten how I'd pushed him away? Our silent treatment lasted for a week. His cast was removed a few days ago and he can walk but only to be careful. It's getting closer to my freedom. But every time I glance at the calendar, it's saddening me for no reason.I am staying inside the house so much was messing with my line of thought. While Marcus has back his duty as a CEO. Everything seemed muddled and confusing and I began to worry for my own sanity. Any reminder of what my life used to be like was too painful and I'd rather do without it.An envelope was thrown onto my bed where I sat. I looked at Marcus in all his drunken glory and wrinkled my nose because of the strong stench of alcohol coming from him. I already warned him about drinking alcohol. But will he listen? Now that I declared to him I'm done with him? Pain hammered in my chest like a stung needle every time I kept reme
(Serena's POV)The cottage was ideal for two people who wanted to hide from the rest of the world and I fell in love with it immediately. It looked like something right out of a Disney fairytale with its wooden floors and walls. The structure itself was made of terracotta and the sloping roof was painted a homely red colour. The garden was full of orange blossoms and lavender, and keeping with the lavish Walton tradition, a Koi pond. There was a hammock in the garden too and that was where I spent most of my time, soaking up the sun. Marcus, on the other hand, spent hours and hours at their private beach, swimming and surfing on his own. He was one for water sports, that much I had figured out.His employees are already settled in their own cottage, while some was having fun near the beach.I was glad to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, especially after what had happened at the airport. Marcus might already know about Nico. He's giving me the silent treatment again.
(Serena's POV)Lying in bed as the fused warm light of dawn now creeps down the summit. My head was everywhere. I cannot sleep a wink last night, not even closing my eyes for a second. My mind is empty. My heart is in pain.-Your job is done. Thank you for everything-His voice keeps running through my head. Every time I closes my eyes, his no emotions pale blue eyes stared at me like I was just a mere stranger to him now.It pains me.But I deserved it.Did I?A knock on the door jolted me on my bed. "Housekeeping."It's Marcus's servant.I let her in to change the bed sheet and clean the whole room while I am gazing down the balcony where Marcus's employees are having fun on their own. This is not a team building. It seems like a vacation for his people. I smiled to know that he still care about his people even though he does not express it while at the company. Here I am again... Thinking about Marcus. Finally, I'll be leaving him. This is what I want, this is what I was hoping
(Marcus's POV)The freedom I experience while riding a bike, no matter where I am or where I am going, is something special. On a cycle path, I never feel compelled to take the same path twice. I have the freedom to travel where my will leads.I can travel whenever, wherever, and as swiftly as I like. My travels are entirely dependent upon me though but didn't have enough time to think about it, personally."Marcus, let's take a break please, I'm already exhausted," Cheska whined like a child. She likes working out in a gym but cannot handle cycling. What's wrong with her?I sigh just as my momentum in nature and the beach was shattered by this woman who keeps following my shadow wherever I go. "Then, you shouldn't come with us."She whined like a brat again but I ignores her as I am focus on sightseeing the relaxing view of pine trees and the coastal beach.I know what is her intention in visiting me here. She talks about her new project way back at the party, she wanted me to spons
(Serena's POV)As soon as I saw Marcus, I can not help but sob. I've been here for hours, scared that night may come. I was alone, injured, and scared. I'm not familiar with this place. What if a wild animal is roaming around the island every night? What if mysterious people will approach me? I don't know how to defend myself. I'm scared that on this island, monsters are wandering around freely. With just by having those thoughts, panic starts to awaken inside of me.But when Marcus stares at me like he misses me damn much. Those panic slowly vanishes into thin air. Because of Marcus's presence, not only gives me frustration but also soothes my worries in life. I slowly realize the importance of having someone at your side. I always appreciate Ryle's presence but it's always different when it comes to Marcus.Although I'm denying everything, I'm still thankful that Marcus's arrival in my life makes me overlook my difficulties.Admit it or not, it feels like I slowly returned to my
(Serena's POV)We headed back to the hotel using the electric vehicle cart of the resort. They said, that road is restricted and there is a signboard under the tree before entering the secluded area for tourists. Too clumsy for me not to notice such a sign board.I noticed Marcus's quietness. His head has been lowered since Nicole and others found us. Did I really hurt him?My eyes lowered down to his leg. I noticed his left hand keeps touching his leg.I called the driver, "Can we head straight to a hospital or clinic?""Yes ma'am."Not that I'm injured but I'm more worried about Marcus's leg. The cart stopped at the hospital near the hotel. Marcus carried me into the hospital. My gaze swiveled over the waiting room, as he was looking for a place for us to sit. A TV played quietly in one corner, a distraction that might help keep his mind off the pain in his leg and the pain I'm feeling in my ankle. The seats closest to it stood empty, sandwiched between two sweating and shivering
(Serena's POV)As soon as we arrived at the mansion, I headed to my room, while pushing myself in the wheelchair. We just arrived from our vacation, but I came home injured. Thankfully, Marcus's leg is doing fine as long as he won't use too much force to strain it again. And also, I remembered what he said on the island. That my job as his caregiver is done. He is not fully healed but he insisted for me to leave the house.I grab the huge backpack under my bed and slowly reach the closet to pack my remaining belongings. While I'm at it, the door opens.I first saw Marcus's confused countenance when I turned around, then my eyes lowered down to his hand, my luggage. Why did he bring it inside? I left my luggage downstairs on purpose so I wouldn't have any trouble carrying it down."Why--""What are you doing?" He suddenly asked. My brows raised. Does he have amnesia?"I'm packing," I said the obvious one."For what?" He entered my closet to drop the luggage inside."Marcus, you said it
(Serena's POV)Taking a peek through the window inside the mansion, my eyes widened at a man wearing a tuxedo who was leaning on the couch comfortably. It's Uncle Gergor, Marcus's uncle, Beside her, is a blonde woman in her late 20s, wearing a channel and full of expensive accessories. Although, I'm not familiar with her countenance.I was contemplating moving forward, to the living room. From the very beginning of my relationship with Marcus, he didn't appreciate my presence. Because I was born into a poor family. And that being said, I can't help with their business. I'm just a trophy to display and not an asset to help them widen their businesses. But Marcus fights for our relationship. Even if his Uncle threatened him, still Marcus protected me with all his might. However, I didn't know Uncle's reaction to our divorce. He must had throw an expensive party for celebrating his victory. Because he did really win in our fight. Marcus let me go. Marcus took the first action to break h
